Overview

Beginning at the Trail Tour Center on Race Street, this brewing history and architecture tour walks the western portion of the Brewery District, marveling at the many remaining 19th and early 20th century structures, while sharing stories of those who built or doomed these brewing empires during beer’s industrial revolution.

Tours include a visit into the vast subterranean lager cellars of the historic (non-operating) Jackson Brewery, as well as outdoor visitation to the Sohn/Mohawk Brewery, several Christian Moerlein sites, and the location of the Bellevue Incline. The Jackson Brewery cellars were excavated from the hillside under the brewery, so we enter from street level and there are no stairs to climb going in or out, making these cellars very accessible and the total walking distance for this tour is less than half a mile.

At the tour conclusion, we stop in at a neighborhood taproom for a pint of local beer, included with each ticket, but soft drinks are also available.

Inclusions

  • Visit into a historic pre-Prohibition brewery lagering cellar.
  • Discount on merchandise in the Brewing Heritage Trail store.
  • Alcoholic Beverages - This tour concludes at a local taproom for a beer or soft drink, which is included with the tour.

Aaron, who is also director, did an awesome job of providing a very informative and interesting tour. He took us on areas of town that we have never seen. It is a bit off the beaten path but is also very interesting. This is definitely worth a visit.

We’ll take Prof. Mike’s Beer History class any day! I knew nothing about beer. I knew nothing about Cincinnati. You really can’t learn about one without the other... and their story is fascinating! It really should be the first stop on your next trip to Cin-City!

A fun way to learn more about the city. I had no idea Cincinnati had such a strong German / beer community

Lisa was outstanding! We are lifelong Cincinnatians and learned several interesting facts, saw our city in a new way and introduced us to a fantastic new place called Northern Row! If you are new to Cincinnati or have been here all your life get some family members together and check this out!
