We were picked up by our guide Lukas appropriately in a little red Skoda car and were driven around various post Russian occupation/ Communist relics of that era. We visited prefabricated housing apartments erected cheaply and quickly by the Russian (a reference to Lego Land was mentioned), an assembly park where a recently renovated and rejuvenated fountain was again in operation, a national cultural monument & military cemetery located on a hill overlooking Bratislava and across into Austria across the Danube River, the Slovakia/Austrian border and saw one of the bunkers installed as preparation to repel the Nazi WWII occupation. Lukas was very insightful and informative in regards to his perspective of the Post-Communist era. So pleased we elected to do this tour.We spent two nights in Bratislava en route Budapest from Prague. This was the perfect tour for our cathedral/castle weary brains. We spent two nights in Bratislava en route Budapest from Prague. This was the perfect tour for our cathedral/castle weary brains. Our guide Maroš was terrific, really gracious and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the communist and post communist era, and about the region. The sites we visited were a thoughtful combination that well illustrated how the city and the people moved through the changes in regimes. And we got really great snacks!!A fantastic tour. Braňo picked us up from the station in an 90’s red Skoda and gave us a great insight into the history of both Bratislava and Slovakia. Do not hesitate to book this. Thank you Braňo for a great experience!
