Story tellers did a nice job of explaining controversial topics in a seemingly accurate and fair way. The avenue of oaks is worth the visit.

Entering the plantation under the moss covered oak trees was truly spectacular and impressive. We arrived just in time to hear the story of the Gullah slaves and Jackie was amazing. Her knowledge of the Gullahs, the Low Country and "The big house" made the visit special. We enjoyed the gorgeous garden area before the house tour and then took the tractor wagon tour. The wagon tour was quite bumpy so be aware of that if you have any medical issues. It was interesting to see how much of the plantation is still being farmed. Highly recommend visiting this plantation. The plantation is gorgeous but the staff make the visit. The tour off the main house was superb, the wagon ride equally as good. The plantation is gorgeous but the staff make the visit. The tour off the main house was superb, the wagon ride equally as good. Definitely do not miss the Gulla presentation, the lady that presented it made it fun and educational. The slave quarters were very well done, it would have been nice to have a tour guide through them and expand on the history though. It was very moving nonetheless and we both felt it was a heavy albeit absolutely necessary part of the entire experience. This was our first plantation visit so we have no other experience to base it against but we both agreed that we had a fantastic time!Tractor tour of the property and crops was very interesting. House tour was too limited. Cabin info was excellent.

This was our second plantation visit during our stay in Charleston having previously visited Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. I found this experience to be more in keeping with a true plantation while Magnolia Gardens was a more park like experience. Grounds here were immaculate and of course the Oak Covered drive into the plantation was amazing. The house tour was informative, the gardens were well maintained and beautiful. The Gullah presentation really set this tour apart. Veronica was an impassioned speaker and singer and her presentation was heartfelt. I can't give her a higher recommendation. The living quarters presentation was only so so. Video within each structure just didn't give the personal feel that the rest of the tour provided. We took the time to walk the back grounds near the swamp and had a god nature viewing experience though we did not see alligators which we were warned about. I was ok with that. We also stopped in at the little deli and gift shop and had a light lunch. Pricing was quite fair for a captured location. All in all, this tour met or exceeded all my expectations for a very reasonable price and I would highly recommend a visit.I highly recommend to everyone! The history is so interesting and the plantation itself is amazing. Highly recommend. Lots to do there.
