We have used Tom's services twice and each time has been fantastic. His knowledge of the area is unmatched and he was able to bring the story of the Obersalzberg during the Third Reich alive. Regardless of whether you are an expert or know nothing, Tom will make this experience worthwhile and memorable. I have been coming to Berchtesgaden since 1989 and there is no other tour guide I know of with the expertise Tom brings. I cannot recommend him highly enough.I spent half a day with Tom exploring Berchtesgaden and Obersalzberg and the experience was second to none. To say that Tom is an expert in the Third Reich’s presence in the area is a vast understatement and his laid back delivery makes for a relaxing but insightful experience. His years of rese...
I spent half a day with Tom exploring Berchtesgaden and Obersalzberg and the experience was second to none. To say that Tom is an expert in the Third Reich’s presence in the area is a vast understatement and his laid back delivery makes for a relaxing but insightful experience. His years of research and personal relationships with people with lived experiences shone through. Standing in the snow in the wooded site of Hitler’s Befghof staring across at the view he would looked at himself whilst making some of the most important decisions of the 30s/40s had to be the highlight of the trip. I hope to return, again engaging Tom’s expertise to share the experience with friends and family. For someone with even the slightest inkling of interest in 20th century history, I couldn’t recommend it enough. Well done Tom.Tom was just an outstanding tour guide! I’m an amateur history buff and thought I knew a lot about the area and topic but Tom blew me away! He knew things I never heard of and showed us areas we wouldn’t see on a regular tour. Tom was just an outstanding tour guide! I’m an amateur history buff and thought I knew a lot about the area and topic but Tom blew me away! He knew things I never heard of and showed us areas we wouldn’t see on a regular tour. He not only knew the history he actually lives in the area in former WW2 housing and his personal connection with former inhabitants, wartime visitors and documents/pictures blew me away! A definite must for those wanting to learn more than they thought they knew about the history of the place! Thanks Tom for a once in a lifetime experience!
