What to expect
Itinerary
Day 1: Paperwork, basic theory, confined water practice
Stop At: Diving Koh Tao, 24, Mae Haad, Tambon Ko Tao, Amphoe Ko Pha-ngan, Chang Wat Surat Thani 84280, Thailand
You will start with reading 5 chapters of the PADI Open Water Diver manual, which can be supplemented by watching 5 parts of the training video. After that you will need to complete 5 knowledge reviews, 4 tests and a final exam related to the 5 chapters you studied.
After each theoretical block you will work together with your instructor on any unclear or difficult parts of the theory.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Koh Nang Yuan, Koh Tao Thailand
First practical application will be conducted in shallow water on the first day by learning basic diving skills, equipment assembling, buddy procedures, atc. Common place for confined session is a bay, called Japanese Garden at Koh Nang Yuan Island. Sendy aria with maximum depth is 1.5 - 2 meters among coral reefs and tropical fish.

Day 2: Open Water dives

Continue with theory, going through knowledge reviews and quizzes
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Koh Nang Yuan, Koh Tao Thailand
On the second day from 10AM to 3 PM - 2 dives in open water (max depth is 12 meters). You are going to repeat your skills in open water.
Duration: 5 hours

Day 3: Open water dives 3&4
Stop At: Diving Koh Tao, 24, Mae Haad, Tambon Ko Tao, Amphoe Ko Pha-ngan, Chang Wat Surat Thani 84280, Thailand
On the third day at 8 AM continues theory and final written exam.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Koh Nang Yuan, Koh Tao Thailand
From 9AM to 2 PM - 2 dives in open water (max depth is 18 meters), you'll master your diving skills and we finish with certification procedures.
Duration: 4 hours

Brilliant! The whole experience with Scuba Birds was top notch! The communication beforehand was clear and concise and they sent all the information over beforehand allowing us to complete the theory side of our course before we arrived. Once in Kho Tao the diving was also great. David made us feel safe and comfortable throughout and we felt like we learnt loads across the three days! Would definitely recommend for PADI courses! Open Water Diver course is a gate way to a new world! This was my first ever experience diving and I got absolutely hooked after this course. Scuba Birds team was super helpful in patiently explaining the details of diving, gave the gear, an awesome teacher Kray Farrow and an opportinity to explore the underworld. I am extremely grateful for the experience I had and the know-how Kray gave us. He shared his passion of diving with us and made as us fall in live with diving. He is a great teacher, making everything ease to learn and overcome the fears of the first-time divers. Also, could not skip unmentioned - he’s got a great sense of humor and is overall fun to be around - which is extremely important in such a three day journey. Highly recommended!SofieW183

I would highly recommend doing your PADI divers course at scuba birds. I did the 3 days Open water course and loved it. My instructor Kray was really helpful, skilled and patient. He was great at spotting if you were nervous with any of the tasks and really patient while helping you. I also did a fun dive afterwards, which I would recommend as you are so much more relaxed and have more time to see everything. My instructor was Nelly, she was so skilled and we saw both multiple rays and pufferfish and a lot more. I had the best time!!JillAtTheBeach

My husband, myself, and our two teenage daughters took the 3-day PADI open water certification. Dmitry from Scuba Birds was efficient and clear in communication & very helpful once we arrived in Ko Tao. Kray Farrow was our instructor and I was extremely pleased with his calm, patient teaching - especially when helping our teens who had never gone diving before. On an instructional level, Kray was clear, helpful, calm (which helped ME stay calm), & knowledgeable of his craft. He was also fun, which definitely kept my kids’ attention. And prior to dives, he always gave us an idea of the things we might see, and pointed things out along the way. The best part - our whole family is now certified!!! We look forward to more dives! I highly recommend both Scuba Birds & Kray as an instructor!erikavelle
