Stonehenge continues to baffle and inspire Archaeologists and Historians. The exact when, how, why, and who questions still challenge the top professionals. Perhaps this is part of the reason that over 1 million people visit this ancient site each year.
Your guide will explain all the main theories, including the folklore and King Arthur connections in a fun, relaxed and informative way.
Once you have enjoyed the World Heritage site at your leisure, it will be time to drive through an area of outstanding natural beauty as we make our way to another Heritage site, the ancient City of Bath. The journey takes one hour, but you won't notice as you will be busy enjoying the stunning views as we drive through rural England.

Stop At: Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House & Museum, 4 N Parade Passage, Bath BA1 1NX, UK
Sally Lunn's Tea Room is located in Bath's oldest house dating back to 1492. This is a perfect spot to take lunch and try the famous "Bath Bun" said to have been created by Sally Lunn in the late 1600's. If you are not hungry at this point there is a small Museum and Bun take away service.

Stop At: Bath Abbey, Bath BA1 1LT England
Included in the day trip is a walking tour of the historic centre of Bath including an optional visit to Bath Abbey. The Abbey is important as it was one of the last major Christian buildings built before Henry VIII split with the Catholic Church. Your guide will make sure you see all the key locations within the historic quarter of Bath.
Founded as a town by the Romans who viewed the natural hot springs as sacred, the settlement flourished and the Roman Baths became one of the most impressive buildings in Roman Britain. Neglected during the dark ages, the Baths had a renaissance in the 18th Century, and continued to be used until the late 1970's.
They say the Doctors of Bath specialised in certain diseases, and those were the diseases of the rich! Wealthy visitors would flock to the Pump Room to follow their Doctors orders for their various ailments that would be cured in the waters of Bath.
On your walk around the centre of Bath you will see the buildings that inspired Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, and where the Aristocracy spent their leisure time in the highly fashionable Bath Spa of the Georgian and Regency periods.
Bath is protected from development, so here you will see some of the best Georgian and Regency architecture in England. Plus you will also have time to explore the many shops and alleys in this beautiful city.

Another outstanding day with Richard! The tour is long as it takes some time to get to Bath, but his knowledge of the city is terrific! We got great pictures of the Royal Crescent and the Poultney Bridge (even with it blocked off for filming). He gives you plenty of time at The Baths and we all went to Sally Lund's Bun House for lunch! We felt like we saw a lot and left to Stonehenge. He knowledge of Stonehenge is also outstanding! We had plenty of time for pictures and to wander around the Stones. Back at our hotel before 6. Once again, Richard impressed us with his knowledge, friendliness, promptness. Will book again for our next UK trip!My sister, our good friend, and myself (all slightly older than middle-aged women) had booked a Jane Austen tour with Richard on a Thursday. My sister, our good friend, and myself (all slightly older than middle-aged women) had booked a Jane Austen tour with Richard on a Thursday. Luckily the tour was highly successful because we had also reserved the Stonehenge/Bath tour with him for the very next day. By the time he dropped us off at our hotel the first evening we already felt like Richard was family. When he picked us up Friday morning we visited in his (very clean) car like old friends (he is also a good driver). We arrived at Stonehenge just at opening time and this allowed us ample time to go through the interpretive center before going to the actual site. Being so early meant we practically had the place to ourselves and Richard obligingly took many photos of us. As we drove to Bath, Richard entertained us with interesting historical facts. Once in Bath he proved to be quite knowledgeable and, knowing we were interested in Jane Austen, was able to point out sites where she had lived. He walked us through Bath and we had lunch at Sally Lunn’s before visiting the Roman Baths. Again, he was very informative yet was always considerate of other visitors by keeping his voice down and not blocking the flow of traffic. We never, at any time, felt pressured to hurry and were able to take all the time we needed. I had been to Stonehenge and Bath once before on a large group bus tour. After spending three days (yes, we booked a third tour but that’s another review) with Richard, we are spoiled. I cannot imagine ever taking another bus tour again. Richard is simply the best.Richard is very knowledgable about everything! So interesting to talk to! And he makes everything easy - tickets all ready in advance, he stood in any lines and then whisked us in everywhere. And he tailors it to your interests. My husband and I had only one set activity during our trip to London and it was to visit Stonehenge. I was overwhelmed by the tour options but as I started to drill down, I realized that a large group coach tour was not for us. It's a 3 hour drive or so out of London, plus the same return. Comfort and ease are important to us, but possibly even more important is flexibility. My husband has MS and weather is always a factor for both of us, as is jet lag, etc. We wanted as much say in what we did as possible, even to the point of if we needed to cut the tour short to head back, we could do that. And so, we had the incredible luck to book Richard for a private tour to Bath and then Stonehenge. The tour includes wonderful communication beforehand to determine an agreeable itinerary. We were picked up at our AirBnB, fortunately it was within an area of London that would work. Richard's vehicle is comfortable with room in the back for extra coats and such. As soon as he held out his hand in greeting, I knew we had a congenial and warm guide to spend the day with. We were indeed jet lagged but Richard started some wonderful conversations about all kinds of topics to keep the long drive entertaining. As we entered Bath, we were given knowledge about the town, including some interesting truths about Jane Austen's life there. Any question we had, Richard had the answer. And it was just so much fun to walk around and banter while learning so much. We were given some time on our own and we ended up eating at his recommended spot and, of course, it was perfect. Next on to Stonehenge and it was INCREDIBLE. Richard timed out tour so we would arrive when the sun was just right for epic shadows and photos. I thought we would do Stonehenge in the morning and Richard recommended afternoon, of course he was so right. A bonus is that our tour was in mid-January so there were no crowds. Yes, it's COLD!!! But on this day, crisp and clear and we could take all the time we wanted for photos and gift shop time. Again, Richard had so much information about Stonehenge and was clearly so delighted by this historical wonder, it rubbed of on us easily. It may be a bit of a splurge, but DO NOT hesitate to book any of Richard's tours if you find one you like. It will be something you remember always.Richard Chambers of Richard's Tours was great. He picked us up on time and provided us with great conversation for 10 hours. He showed us everything at Bath and Stonehenge, tolerated our 11 yo son. It was a great long day and we learned a lot and I can't imagine a better experience.
