In the morning hours your licensed driver guide will pick you up at your accommodation. As you drive through Zagreb, you will get plenty of interesting information about the city and historical overview of Croatia itself. Your guide will also explain the itinerary.

While you enjoy your ride and feast your eyes on some beautiful scenery, your driver guide will not just shut up and drive. Prepare yourself for loads of interesting and fun stories about Croatian life and culture. One of them will be about the Marian Shrine in Marija Bistrica.

Once we reach Varaždin, you will already have an insight about once a capital of Croatia. Varaždin, a baroque gem will definitely sweep you of your feet while you discover it's numerous palaces, churches and medieval streets on your private walking tour. After the walking tour, you will enjoy your free time and try some of the local specialities.

After your free time we will continue our tour to Trakošćan Castle but before that we will have a short walk in one of the most beautiful cemeteries in this part of Europe.

Stop At: Trakoscan Castle (Dvor Trakoscan), Trakoscan 42254 Croatia
A walking tour of the castle will take us back to chivalry times. Trakošćan, a 13th-century castle is full of paintings, weapons, artifacts and interesting stories about its previous owners. After visiting the castle, explore the picturesque lake that surrounds it.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Our day will end with our return to Zagreb in the late afternoon.

We really enjoyed going out of Zagreb for a different experience. The beautiful small old town of Varazdin was picture perfect with interesting history, vintage buildings, castle, and shops. It was like something out of an 1800s story book. It was nice driving through the countryside and small towns to Trakoscan Castle which was also picture perfect in a very nice wooded setting. Our driver Karlo was the best--very friendly, flexible and full of history and other relative local information. We were very pleased we had chosen this trip.This was just one of five one-day tours I did with Bespoke as a birthday gift to myself. This was my favorite tour! This was just one of five one-day tours I did with Bespoke as a birthday gift to myself. This was my favorite tour! I loved the city of Varaždin and its old town area. One will want to spend at least a weekend there after this tour. The Varaždin Cemetery and its park-like design is beautiful. Trakošćan Castle and its grounds are amazing. Roaming the many, many rooms as Karlo told the stories of each and the castle owners' history was so fascinating. Karlo is not only extremely knowledgeable of all things Croatia, but also, he is a very kind, patient man who will tailor the tour to your personal needs, including any physical limitations. One can tell immediately that Karlo loves Croatia, his home country, and never stops being awed by it's beauty. Karlo is also a great photographer and willingly takes photos of his guests upon request. He is great at setting up the perfect shot.Another great trip run by Karlo.
