What to expect
We will start our tour from Rovaniemi and drive to our location hidden in the forest. During the trip, we will take a break in a wooden shelter and prepare some sausages over an open fire. We will be surrounded by all of the most astonishing features of Lappish nature. Moving on skiis in these snowy landscapes gives us unforgettable opportunities for photography! The tour is always guided by a professional photographer who will share his knowledge of landscape and nature photography.

It is my first time to try skiing, the tour guide Uhoney is talkative and patients to teach us the basic skill on skiing, and then the exciting backcountry skiing adventure begin. We skiing in the forest and take many nice photos. And then we skiing in the frozen lake. The view is fantastic. We are sweating from begining, and get a bit cold when the body get wet. a camp fire is ready for us to keep warm and barbecue the sausage. We have fun and excited during the tour. The activity maybe costs a bit more than with other companies, but its because these guys are professionals. From entering the office to returning everything went smooth and without any complications. They know we are tourists, so they provide all the equipment that is necessary in these extreme conditions (boots, overalls, gloves, warm hats, backpacks, hot beverages and bbq food for the break), and they even take photos of you. What I really liked is that they are not wasteful and that they really take care of the nature. I did the Backcountry Skiing Adventure with Markus and the Korouoma Frozen Waterfalls Expedition with Juho. Both were outstanding. Juho took us to various locations in the canyon to see the different falls. He also pointed out interesting features in the forest along the way and explained how such features were formed. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, and made it a wonderful day. Markus was fantastic on the skiing trip. He took us to a beautiful forest area by a river. He was really good explaining how to do the skiing and helped us to practice before we really got going on the trail. He gave lots of information about cross country skiing and the challenges in different conditions. He was very attentive to safety. There were lots of lovely locations for photographing. I was totally satisfied with both tours and would absolutely go with Beyond Arctic again. Highly recommended!Guide Juhani was great! Guide Juhani was great! His enthusiasm about the nature, the (sun) light and his love for Lapland worked for us quite well. He took very amazing pictures. We loved doing an active activity, like backcountry skiing tour. As a family of four, we have (down hill) skiing experience, but never went cross-country skiing and also never through deep fresh snow. We were happy to a longer route, but you can determine your own speed or length of the tour, depending on your experience and wishes. If we go back to Lapland, this activity 'backcountry skiing advanture' will be #1 in our list of things we want to do.We had Maiju as a guide and she was amazing!
