What to expect
In the heart of Provence, Avignon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful jewels in the south of France, with its exceptional historical center, its renowned theatre festival and, of course, its delicious Provençal cuisine: aromatic herbs, tomatoes, olive oil, a good glass of Côte du Rhône and sun-ripened fruit.
Let our local food expert walk you through the historic streets of this magnificent "City of the Popes", stopping at its delicious shops, tasting Rhône Valley wine and local specialties.
Sample Menu
• Tapenade and Oil Tasting - Traditional and emblematic recipes of Provençal cuisine, made from olives, tomatoes and anchovies.
• Fougasse - a flat, savoury bread, rich of flavours
• Savoury Waffle - The specialty of a local restaurant, topped with delicious cheese and seasonal ingredients. Ad a glass of red wine, of course!
• Cake - A slice of homemade cake, with meringue, raspberries, blueberries... so many choices!

We had a delightful visit to Avignon made all the better with Renie , our tour guide. We were only in the city for two days and Renie helped us get a good sense of the city and its treasures. We tasted new foods in a number of local eateries and in some of the established shops selling locally sourced produce from the region. The tour gave us the confidence to return to some of these establishments after and make purchases so we could take with us a taste of Provence.René was a remarkable guide, great knowledge of culture and history, she made it such a fun day. The food stops were good quality and not rushed, we had time to ask questions and the suppliers were friendly and welcoming. A good insight into the city.
