What to expect
This exciting combination of land and water tour offers the delight of riding an ATV through the forest with a diversity of ecosystems and some snorkeling. Upon arrival at the beach, the astonishing ocean view invites you for a quick to swim.
This tour will take you to Playa Minas , where you can snorkel for an hour and observe the most exotic fish of all sizes, colors and shapes.
This trip can also be extended and go to other beaches like Playa Piratas and PUERTO VIEJO , before returning.

Since we went at the end of the tourist season, we were the only people on our tour. This meant we got our own ATVs. Hotel pickup was early. Unfortunately since the weather was a little bit stormy, the waves were too choppy and we didn't get to do the snorkel portion. They informed us the day before, we did receive a partial refund and they took us on an extended drive. Our guide was friendly and made sure we know how to drive and be safe. Checked in with us throughout the tour. Would recommend.
Enjoy a nice private ATV tour along the famous beaches and through local dirt roads. The ATV were in great condition and easy to learn and ride. The tour guide was friendly and took us to beautiful beaches where we saw monkeys in the nearby trees which was a surprise.

This was the perfect adventure for me and my daughters. They are both in their 20s and I’m in my early 60s. I was looking for a tour adventure that we could share together.... One that would provide a little excitement as well as wildlife along the way. Prior to booking I sent a couple emails in to ask some questions that I had. Carlos returned the emails right away and answered all my questions. I booked and was so grateful that I did. The tour starts with Carlos explaining how to operate the ATV vehicles which we had never done before. They are very easy to operate and such a joy to ride. Carlos was very careful to make this a safe trip and he made sure that we not only knew how to operate the ATVs but along the way he guided us in the intricacies of navigating the back roads and small trails that take your pills and through some small streams. We got to see three or four beaches total and we snorkeled at Playa Minyas. Carlos grew up in the area, so he knew everything about each stop we made. He showed us where turtle nests used to be, stopped to show us howler monkeys, and told us local history. If you’re interested in seeing some very beautiful beaches and having some fun on an ATV while you’re doing that this is a great group tour to go on. And Carlos is a fantastic tour operator. We had a great ATV/snorkel excursion with Pininos Adventures. Carlos picked us up at our resort, fitted us with helmets and ATVs, where we went on a journey through neighborhoods and jungles and ended up at a secluded beach. We went snorkeling for about 45 minutes and finished the journey back through the jungle. Carlos was awesome and happy to accommodate your needs. We were able to take in the local scenery and learn a bit more about the culture of the area. It was just a buddy and me, so I like to think we took the more adventurous path (which it was!), but Carlos mentioned they have different trails for different comfort levels. We saw Howler Monkeys and swam with a few colorful fish. The tides can be a bit rough so there is no guarantee to the clarity of the water, but the beach were beautiful in and of itself.My friend and I stayed at the JW Marriott and were looking for an excursion around the area with a mix of rain forest and beach. My friend and I stayed at the JW Marriott and were looking for an excursion around the area with a mix of rain forest and beach. Our time with Pininos Adventures was exactly what we were looking for. Carlos picked us up from our hotel and was an awesome guide. By the end of our time, Carlos was more of a friend than a tour guide. The ATV part of the excursion was so much fun and we were able to see some beautiful parts of Costa Rica (rivers/streams, hillsides, forests) and even stumbled across two families of monkeys. Carlos then took us to a private and beautiful beach to snorkel. Our excursion was our favorite part of the trip! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an action packed day during their stay in or around Tamarindo.
