Our tour guide, Captain Ranulfo, picked us up from the hotel precisely on time. His vehicle was pristine, and very comfortable. His English was great and his knowledge of the cities and countryside was remarkable. He is passionate about history and his enthusiasm about the sites and artifacts kept us engaged and interested. He was a considerate and careful driver, answering all of our questions. The pyramids were impressive and the museum was very nice. The lunch we shared together after the site visits was authentic Mexican and delicious. We felt like we were being welcomed "home." My husband and I would highly recommend "Captain Ran" as a guide for this tour and for the Monarch Butterfly tour.Pablo was an awesome tour guide! Knowledgeable, well spoken, great sense of humour! This was my first time touring an ancient city in Mexico, and it exceeded my expectations. The site is a newer excavation, with more to come. I most enjoyed learning the history of trade in Mexico between the people of the different neighboring regions. I highly recommend joining Ulises for this tour. He was so easy to coordinate with, we departed on time, and his enthusiasm for both the route and sites we saw were unparalleled. We were joined by his colleague Jennifer, who too was a delight and will be leading groups soon. Our tour of the museum, the pyramids, the ball field, and the ancient city was led by Eric, who was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the land. Thank you for a fabulous day and the Spanish lessons, Ulises! This tour was everything I expected, and so much more. Our guide, Ran, was so passionate about his culture's history. This tour was everything I expected, and so much more. Our guide, Ran, was so passionate about his culture's history. He didn't just tell us facts, he was teaching us how to identify the difference between the artifacts, what they meant, symbolized, and the importance of those symbols to the culture. As soon as we got into the car, he was off! He talked about the landscape, how to see the hidden pyramids in the hillsides. I watched other tour guides breeze through the museum and archaeological sites, taking half the time Ran took. Every detail was important to him. Us understanding was equally important. We drove through the local town near by, and he stopped to let us buy a watermelon from one of the locals (soooo good!) And for lunch he took us to a hole in the wall restaurant, something we never would have found on our own. His food recommendations were spot on, so delicious! I felt like I was experiencing the real Mexico, instead of a tourist trap. On the way back to our hotel he pointed out different floral and fun facts about the state of Guerrero in general. This trip was hands down the best thing we have experienced in Mexico thus far. If you love archaeology, this tour is the one I would recommend.Xihuacan Archeological site is a developing jewel. From the ancient Mayan play court to the pyramid we climbed up, it was a great adventure. It is still being uncovered as there is so much more to see.
