Taking a bike tour was a nice way to discover the area from a different angle and be closer to nature. Most of the ride takes place under the trees, so the shade and air from the riding make it easier than expected in hot weather. Additionally, my guide Bunsom was very attentive and would stop whenever I needed. He was very friendly and would adapt the tour to my interests. The tour ended with a short ride on a gondola to see the sunset from the Angkor Thom moat. Beautiful sunsets are not guaranteed of course, but the food, the beer and Bunsom’s company was a nice way to end the day.Brilliant trip - cycling the back roads to Bayon temple - we literally had the whole place to ourselves! Brilliant trip - cycling the back roads to Bayon temple - we literally had the whole place to ourselves! Super oraganisation - collected from our hotel by tuk tuk at 1.30, met our wonderful guide Yuth, safety demo with our high quality mountain bikes and then we were off. Stopped en route for ice cold towels and fresh fruit. Finally arrived at the Dragon boat for our sunset ride, complete with beers, soft drinks and home made spring rolls. Spectacular sunset and all round brilliant half day tour. Please do this tour - it was a real highlight escaping the crowds at the temples - and the tour company support disadvantaged youth in the Siem Reap area - so it is a win win!!The bike ride was fantastic. The bike ride was fantastic. It didn’t feel like 20km at all. It went so smoothly and the guide was great and very accommodating. The gondola under sunset with beer and snacks at the end of it was perfect after the cycle through the jungle. They even gave me a birthday cake. I’d suggest booking earlier in the day. Sometimes if you book too late, the boat is already full, so booking earlier in the day will more likely be available. A great day though. Very safe, very fun, and after that cycle you’ll really enjoy the beer, snacks and boat ride. My sister & I decided to try the twilight bike tour – despite the fact that I haven’t ridden a bike in about 20 years. It was an absolutely amazing adventure!!! Given that Siem Reap was still recovering from COVID, we ended up with a private tour with our wonderful guide, Sotin, and his incredible assistant, Bunsom. They ensured that we were outfitted with appropriate bikes & gear (helmet, water), kept us safe on the roads (though we were a bit wobbly at first), and maintained a good pace that kept us on time for the sunset dragon boat ride while still accommodating our skill level (or lack thereof). Sotin’s knowledge of the temples & explanations (in perfect English) were spot-on and quite interesting. We were guided along paths that kept us away from the crowds, and we were actually the only people at the “temple” of one of the massive eastern gates where we had a rest, cold water, and some delicious fresh fruit. The dragon boat ride at the end allowed us to relax, have some hot snacks, and drink beers while we chatted with our guides. The sunset was stunning, and there were (unexpectedly) few mosquitoes despite the stillness of the lotus-choked water. By the time we returned to shore, our bikes were gone, and a tuk tuk was waiting for the trip home in the dark. Note: The tour was listed as novice on our hotel brochure, and though it was not difficult (even for us), some experience is definitely required. The TripAdvisor details suggest a moderate level of physical fitness, and I think this is a better description. We used city streets to reach the dirt "back road" to the wat. Siem Reap drivers are especially courteous & careful, and their patience and allowances made (even when we didn't have the right of way) kept us safe in the traffic. However, that back road turned into bumpy, sandy, narrow bike paths, sometimes eroded along steeper hills (we walked these – there were only 2). Again, not especially hard, but not exactly novice either. Not appropriate for small children but a great family outing for older kids. The entire ride was about 25km (15 miles). Though the tour does not visit the famous Angkor Wat temple, the lesser-known Angkor Bayon is stunningly beautiful & less crowded. As the bike tour traverses the Angkor Archaeological Park, an entrance ticket (not included in the tour price) must be purchased prior. Such a ticket is required for all tourists, can easily be purchased online, and a single-day or multi-day pass can be bought so plan ahead – if you will be going through Angkor on multiple days, you will save a significant amount of money with a multi-day pass. There are checkpoints at which these tickets must be shown. I just showed a screenshot on my phone. Overall, a highly recommended experience!!!
