Definitely worth the money. You can easily spend a few hours here. Lots to see and read across all the buildings. Facts and history captured with audio and photography. Some on the pictures were quite graphic. Good fun exploring the Whaling boat. The whale skeletons were huge but the buildings they were displayed in were very dark and should have been lit up. We also had fun visiting the Wildlife and Flora parks which were included in your ticket. The Cafe do great coffee and perfect bacon /egg toasted sandwich a must try, great service. Beautiful view

We both really enjoyed the tour followed by a good look around at the exhibits, building and displays. The whole place has been well preserved and the added bonus was being able to climb all over the ship. What was really fascinating was that some on the tour could remember visiting the whaling station as children, when it was still functioning, their stories added a further dimension. Well worth the money and plenty to keep you occupied. The cafe was good too. This place will make you count your blessings that you were born when you were and did not have to contemplate whaling as a career ! I do not agree that the entry price is steep. There is a lot to do there and it is well organized. We spent time clambering over the whaling ship. I cannot imagine...
This place will make you count your blessings that you were born when you were and did not have to contemplate whaling as a career ! I do not agree that the entry price is steep. There is a lot to do there and it is well organized. We spent time clambering over the whaling ship. I cannot imagine what it would have felt like to be out on the sea looking for these huge creatures who could overturn your ship very easily. There are three films you can go and watch to inform you further. We need the money for the upkeep of such a part of the area's history. And it is such recent history. My friend is only 70 but remembers as a child coming down here and watching as the whale was brought ashore and sliced up - no health and safety in those days. Just go here with some imagination. It is wonderful. PS and the cafe also serves very good food !!A very well preserved and maintained important part of local history. A very well preserved and maintained important part of local history. It was a pleasure to join a tour and gain knowledge of the past workings of the station. Very well explained on all aspects of the past operations. The skeletons on display along with the use of whale bones in the building was a wow for us. Beautifully cared for. Well worth the small cost which we view as a donation to enable future generations to experience this important historical site. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, after the tour you can re visit the different parts and take your time to explore a little further. Cafe offers nice food and gift shop is also offering small mementos ion your visit. Highly recommend if you visit Albany. Very pretty location too.
