A Fun Day Out Discovering Kamakura
Overview
I would be delighted to show you around this ancient city that was Japan's de facto capital from 1185–1333 and which saw the emergence of the shogunate, the flowering of samurai culture, and the rise of Zen Buddhism. I'll explain the history and culture of the Kamakura Period while we visit the temples and shrines on our tour, and also talk about various aspects of Japanese life, both traditional and contemporary. As a bonus, I’ll take souvenir photos of you on the tour. The tour lasts approximately 4 hours. You may select a starting time on the booking form. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, I strongly recommend you visit Kamakura. There’s a lot to discover in this beautiful and historic city!

Our visit to Kamakura was the highlight of our vacation. The tour guide, Virgil, guided us through the different sites we visited with the precision to expose us to the most interesting locations. His explanations of the historical aspects of the sites gave depth to the tour that couldn't have been found on our own. He was a caring guide who lead us in an unhurried way that gave us time to enjoy each site and took photos with our cameras along the way. His knowledge of the sites, the culture, the language and his clearly spoken English made the day exceptionally enjoyable and insightful. What an excellent opportunity to learn about Japanese history and immerse yourself in Japanese culture. What an excellent opportunity to learn about Japanese history and immerse yourself in Japanese culture. I was in Japan for business and had a day to spend on my own and took this opportunity to learn about Kamakura from Peter. What an amazing experience. Peter was very helpful in sharing all his knowledge on the history and culture, which made the experience so much more meaningful. Highly recommended. Peter was excellent and will most likely go for another tour if I get a chance to go back there as there are many more temples there. It is truly a magical place.
