My guide, Claudia, was very fun to spend time with. She was energetic and enthusiastic to guide me through the Metro and to so many important landmarks in the city. Her knowledge was invaluable and it was easy to understand her English while she explained history and tradition. She made this a great way to get oriented in CDMX!We signed on for a 3 hour walking tour of Roma and La Condesa with Mariana. We signed on for a 3 hour walking tour of Roma and La Condesa with Mariana. We answered the survey indicating our interest in culture and history, perhaps food. Mariana was kind enough but the tour was not a tour…just a walk and a complete waste of time and money. She led us around having nearly nothing to say and couldn’t answer most of our questions. We questioned her about many things to try to get her to talk. The very few things she pointed out (say perhaps 5 in 3 hours) evaded her…e.g. there’s a statute…who is it?…why is it significant? Etc? Mariana was a dry well. We could have wandered the neighborhoods on our own and learned as much. Moreover Mariana was over 30 mins late and we ultimately needed an uber bc we ended a 45 min walk to our hotel and had a meeting to get to. Honestly we were working way too hard to find some redeeming value in the experience. I was glad when it was over. Mariana needs to relate her personal experience, and/or learn and relate some basic facts about history, culture, food or anything interesting about Mexico, Mexico City, Roma/La Condessa. She grew up in the area and her family still lives there…she should have plenty to say. Perhaps she’s simply not cut out for this assignment.Lando contacted me to suggest and create an itinerary for our walk during the time we had scheduled. Lando contacted me to suggest and create an itinerary for our walk during the time we had scheduled. We started from the lobby of our hotel in Polanco, visited Chapultepec park and Castle; it was the highlight of our day. We continued through Reforma viewing all the relevant sites. We also had the experience of riding on the double-decker bus. We finished our tour at the Centro Histórico and Zocalo. All through the walk, Lando was giving us important information regarding the sites and Mexico's History. I highly recommend the Tour and Lando as your guide. There are several options for the length of your tour, just remember that it's a walking tour and to bring your hat, sunscreen and keep well hydrated. We selected the 4-Hour option.
