Tania was an amazing tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the artifacts in the Egyptian Museum and the pyramids of Giza. She also helped me bargain at the bazaar. I do have one caveat…I told her I wanted a cartouche and she not only took to to get one she hustled the hell out of me. She sent me to a place yo get a silver one where I was charged 9 times the cost of a cartouche ( I found out later from different Egyptian people that I was severely over charged) the only reason I’m not too mad is because I’m Cairo it’s very difficult for this not to happen to you. Everyone there is hustling. Now that I know, the best thing I can do is warn others. If there are specific things you want try and find out from you hotel or hostel receptionists before you go out to shop.We had a great time touring around the pyramids, local stores, bazaar and the museum with Fatma. From the night before this was excellent. Text asking if we could leave 30 mins earlier at 7:30 to help skip traffic. Hell yes and we are off. Essam was always there whenever we needed the car, he would just pop up. Mimo was an Egyptologist who made every part of the day interesting. I may not recall it all but that’s just me. Pyramids are simply stunning and Mimo guided spot to spot to see everything and get best pics. Sphinx there guarding the pyramids. The panoramic view is breathtaking. Then a camel ride. Coolest part was riding thru the desert looking at the pyramids. After this we were shown Egyptian essential oils and how papaya paper was made. Both worth a stop and interesting to see. Products available to buy but no hard sell or pushy sales. Try the tea too! Traditional lunch of mixed grill with a view of the pyramids. Final stop Egyptian Museum where again Mimo guided us through the highlights. Fantastic tour hosted by two wonderful people. Would highly recommend the day!
