He took us to so many lovely places and we really enjoyed the restaurant he took us to for lunch. His English was outstanding and he had a great sense of humor too.This could not have been better! We met Fermin and decided together where to go on our 80% chance of rain day. We wanted to go to places we would not drive ourselves, so up to the rim of Sete Cidades we went. This could not have been better! We met Fermin and decided together where to go on our 80% chance of rain day. We wanted to go to places we would not drive ourselves, so up to the rim of Sete Cidades we went. It started foggy ( no rain) and magically cleared while we were on top. Along the way there he took us off road to many interesting view points. During the course of the day we covered all of the Western end. He was fun to be with and knowledgeable and took us to a great lunch place. I recommend the 8 hour tour without hesitation. Yours will be different because it is exactly what you want to do. We were picked up right at the cruise terminal by Telmo. Let me first start by saying how amazing Telmo was. The nine island chain archipelago is home to some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. I like it better than Hawaii. As good as the views and experiences were Telmo's passion for his homeland and wonderful stories, history, and facts truly made the day an adventure we will never forget.Delfim was our tour guide for the half-day tour we’d booked, and we immediately bonded as he opened his comfortable van for the 4 of us. Delfim was our tour guide for the half-day tour we’d booked, and we immediately bonded as he opened his comfortable van for the 4 of us. He was flexible enough to respond to our impulse to make this a full-day tour, and we embarked on a day full of information and fun. He is fascinated by the geology of Sao Miguel, and taught us how to read the rocks as we visited the rocky coastline on the way to Furnas. He gave us a perfect mixture of guidance and space as we explored Terre Nostre, the hot springs, and the tea plantation. He organized our wonderful lunch in Furnas (cooked in the fumaroles) and it was like family eating together. We recommend him highly, and wish we could still be there in Sao Miguel.Exactly on time (9 AM) our guide Telmo was at the meeting point and welcomed us to the island. As our ship had to leave at 4PM we had to shorten the 8 hour trip so we discussed the options with Telmo. Exactly on time (9 AM) our guide Telmo was at the meeting point and welcomed us to the island. As our ship had to leave at 4PM we had to shorten the 8 hour trip so we discussed the options with Telmo. We concluded to let hem decide what the best places to go for and that was probably one of our best deciosns that day. Telmo took us first along the coast, visited several very nice places and had a coffee with special cake in I believe Vila Franca, which we enjoyed very much. We continued towards Furnas which was very interesting as well and continued towards the North coast. Via Pico da Pedra we continued our journey and had some amazing stops. Telmo really took us to his 'own' secret places with some stunning views. Also we experienced an offroad path passing a water stream. Finally he took us perfect on time to the port entry in Ponta Delgada. An excellent guide and an amazing trip; real value for money!
