What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1: Visit Reykjavík

Stop At: Keflavík International Airport, 235, Iceland
We offer a complimentary shuttle service from either International Keflavík Airport or hotel accommodation from Keflavík town to our office located just a five-minute drive from the airport.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Sun Voyager, Saebraut, Reykjavik 101 Iceland
The famous Sun Voyager sculpture has been created by Jón Gunnar Árnason, who, through his piece, wanted to convey a message of hope and freedom. The statue is placed right by the sea with majestic mountains in the background. It is for sure something not to miss!
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre, Austurbakki 2, Reykjavik 101 Iceland
Harpa, the music and conference hall whose architecture was also inspired by Icelandic nature.
Note that to enter Harpa to visit the building only, admission is free; however, you need to pay a small parking fee which is not included in the tour price.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Hallgrimskirkja, Hallgrimstorgi 1, Reykjavik 101 Iceland
Hallgrimskirkja church is located close to downtown Reykjavik and the famous Rainbow Street. Should you like to have a 360° panoramic view of the whole city, we recommend going to the very top of the church.
Note that the entrance to the church is free; however, you need to pay an admission fee if you wish to walk up to the church´s tower, which is not included in the tour price.

If you are interested and have some time left on your arrival day, we recommend you visit FlyOver Iceland, where you can see Icelandic landmarks from bird view.
Note that this is only our recommendation, the admission fee is not included in the tour price. Booking for admission to FlyOver Iceland needs to be made by you on the supplier´s website.
If you choose to come here, it will take you 1 hour and 30 minutes, including the driving time from Hallgrímskirkja.

Day 2: Snæfellsnes Peninsula and Kirkjufell

Stop At: Gerduberg basalt columns, Gerduberg Road 54, 311 Iceland
The first stop of the day is The Gerðuberg cliff, which is partially composed of 14 meters high basalt columns. The peculiar detail about the columns is that they are geometrically symmetric. Do not miss this!
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Budakirkja, Gardsbrun 6, Budir Iceland
Start exploring the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula with a short stop at Búðir church. The latter is among the three black churches in Iceland, making it an extremely sough spot by photographers. A little further, you find the Búdir hotel. It does happen that every once and a while, seals are spotted in the sea.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Arnarstapi, Iceland
Arnastapi is worth a small stop as the area is renowned for its beauty. The beach is fascinating because erosion carved an arch right in the stone, called Gatklettur, or simply a hole in the cliff.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Vatnshellir Cave, Snaefellsbaer Iceland
At 2 pm, you explore an 8000-year-old lava tube located 32 meters under the ground! This is genuinely a fantastic lava formation where robust flows created an anti-chamber accessible by spiral stairs. Equipped with a helmet and headlight, you descend deep under the surface.

Stop At: Djúpalónssandur beach, Unnamed Road Iceland, 356, Iceland
Djúpalónssandur is a black pebble beach where sailors were selected right on the spot long ago t. Men's strength was tested by lifting big rocks (23 to 155 kg) and heavy drifted wood logs and carrying or throwing them as far as possible. Today, we can still see the stones and many records on the shore and the remainder of the rusty shipwreck. The site is kept untouched to connect with history through.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Saxholl Crater, Route 574, Snaefellsbaer Iceland
You might like to end the day with a visit to the genuine Saxhóll volcanic crater. Led by wooden steps along the way, you reach the 100 meters (about 328.08 ft) deep crater after a nice and leisurely walk. You have a fantastic view of the sea, the lava fields, and on a bright day, Reykjavík is on the horizon!

Stop At: Kirkjufellsfoss, Grundarfjorour Iceland
However, the next waterfall you see (Kirkjufellsfoss) is among Iceland's most visited and photographed ones, along with the famous mountain Kirkjufell. The latter one formed 5 to 10 million years ago, and its multi-layered tip provides a unique and majestic look.

Day 3: Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls

Stop At: Súgandisey Island Lighthouse, 37JG+4PF, 340 Stykkishólmur, Iceland
Today promises to be an eventful day. The first stop of the day is Stykkishólmur a charming fishing village renowned for fresh and succulent fish dishes. Make sure to visit Súgandisey Island and its lighthouse before going to your next stop. The harbor connects with the island by road, and you can walk up the mount from which the view is spectacular.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Hraunfossar Lava Waterfall, Borgarfjörður, Hraunfossar Iceland
During this day you will be able to see a few picturesque waterfalls. The first of them is Hraunfoss. The waterfall is composed of trickling rivulets coming through the vegetation on a large portion of the riverbed.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Barnafoss, Mooruvallavegur Möðruvellir 5, Reykholt, Borgarbyggd Iceland
Nearby Hraunfoss is located Barnafoss or children waterfall. Barnafoss is a powerful gust of water that emerges through a lava opening.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring, Road 50, Reykholt Iceland
You stop at Deildartunguhver, Europe's largest hot spring located in Reykjadalur or the "valley of smoke. "From a safe distance, you see massive bubbles formation in the 97°C water and feel the generated heat on your face.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Krauma, Deildartunguhver West Region Iceland, Reykholt 320 Iceland
You finish the day in the geothermal waters of the Krauma Spa! Adjacent to Deildartunguhver, the facility has four pools fed with a constant and natural geothermal water flow. The site does not use chemicals to maintain the water's quality and provides what is needed.

Day 4: Golden Circle

Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland
You start the Golden Circle exploration with a visit to Þingvellir national park. Þingvellir is not only a geological marvel where Oxara waterfall and Silfra Fissure were born out of the continental drift splitting the earth's crust at various locations, but it is also an important historical and political site. The park is UNESCO World Heritage.
Note that entrance to the park is free; however, there is a parking fee you have to pay, which is not included in the tour price.
Duration: 50 minutes

Stop At: Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths, Hverabraut 1, Laugarvatn 840 Iceland
At 11:30 AM you soak in the deliciously warm waters of Fontana Bath, from which you have a panoramic view of the lake.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Geysir, Geysir, South Region
You next visit Geysir, where the geyser Strokkur shoots its warm water column up to 15 meters in the air. The geothermal area also has many fumaroles, mud pots, and openings where you can witness boiling water coming through the earth's crust.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Gullfoss Waterfall, Blaskogabyggd Iceland
Gullfoss waterfall is an impressive chute 32 meters high. It falls dramatically into a deep crevasse covering the entire surrounding with water spray. It is common to see many rainbows when the droplets catch the sunlight.

If you are interested, we recommend you visit the Fridheimar Restaurant and Farm, famous for horse breeding, horse show activities, and tomato farm. The latter entirely run with geothermal energy and uses biological pest control products. Fridheimar is open for visits and has a restaurant where you can taste their tomatoes' specialties.

If you choose to come here, it will take you 1 hour and 30 minutes, including the driving time from Gullfoss Waterfall.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Kerid Crater, Route 35, Selfoss Iceland
You next visit Kerið volcanic crater. The crater is approximately 3000 years old and is covered with vivid colored grounds in the summer. The crater is a lovely site in its winter coat, particularly when its inner lake catches the sunlight on frosty days.
Note that to walk up to the crater, there is a small admission fee to pay, which is not included in the tour price.

Stop At: Seljalandsfoss, Hvolsvollur 861 Iceland
Many beautiful waterfalls are on the program today! The first one is Seljalandsfoss, a 60 meters high waterfall behind which you can walk. It is a very picturesque site and is therefore widely photographed and featured. 
Note that entrance to the waterfall area is free; however, there is a parking fee you must pay, which is not included in the tour price.
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

Stop At: Skogafoss, Skogar Iceland
Skógafoss is an impressive waterfall fed by the melting waters from Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull glaciers. This robust chute provides a unique experience where loud sounds, water spray, and rainbows surround you as the light reflects on the droplets. Be ready to be amazed!

Day 5: Ice Cave Tour and Diamond Beach

Stop At: Fjadrargljufur Canyon, Route 206 3.5KM off The Ring Road, Kirkjubaejarklaustur Iceland
Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon is among the must-see sites on the south coast. With its curved and dramatic shape, frigid river, and the odd sheep here and there, grazing grass is worth the detour! This site was the prod Justin Bieber's music video production site in 2015.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Diamond Beach, 781, Iceland
Be ready to have an outer-world experience today! The Diamond beach is a beautiful black beach where thousands of ice blocks from the glacier lie around. They are of numerous sizes and shapes and glitter in the sunlight just as diamonds do!

Stop At: Local Guide - Glacier Hikes, Þjóðvegur, 785, Iceland
Today you will experience an Ice Cave Tour, offered and organized by the supplier: Local Guide of Vatnajökull.
The Ice Cave Tour is a half-day tour that allows you to experience a stunning blue ice cave in Vatnajökull. Start your journey by driving a super jeep into the glacial valley before hiking to the mouth of the crystal blue, naturally occurring cave. The cave is reforming by melting every summer, which always makes it a unique experience.
Duration: 3 hours 40 minutes

Day 6: Reynisfjara - Black Sand Beach

Stop At: Dyrholaey, Vik Iceland
Dyrhólaey or Doorhill Island remains what used to be an island thousands of years ago. The promenade is a 120 meters rock formation that has a gaping hole in the middle where ships used to sail through. Today, Dyrhólaey is a top-rated site in Iceland and is home to many bird species.
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

Stop At: Reynisfjara Beach, Route 215, Vik Iceland
Next, you visit the Reynisfjara beach and its well-renowned cliff Reynisfjall. The basalt columns of the cliff wall provide a unique atmosphere to the site. You may like to sit on some of them and gaze at the three basalt rock formations which proudly stand out of the mighty Atlantic Sea. Rumor has it that they are the remains of trolls who wanted to reach the shore but got caught by daylight.
Duration: 50 minutes

Stop At: Lava Show, Vikurbraut 5, Vik 870 Iceland
At 1.30 pm, you go to the Icelandic Lava Show, where you witness and experience safely real running hot lava flowing from a mimic volcanic eruption.

If you are interested in history and want to know what life was like in Iceland hundreds of years ago, we recommend you visit the Skógar Museum. The collection of 15, 000 artifacts is exhibited in three museums and six buildings and is part of Iceland's cultural heritage.
Note that this is only our recommendation, the admission fee is not included in the tour price. If you choose to come here, it will take you 1 hour and 30 minutes, including the driving time from the Icelandic Lava Show.

Day 7: Departure

Stop At: Kleifarvatn Lake, Road 42 Iceland
Start your day by visiting Reykjanesbær peninsula's largest lake, Kleifarvatn. It is also among Iceland's deepest depths at almost 100 meters. The water comes from the porous lava ground around it and is home to many fishes, particularly anglers! The lake reflects Iceland's beauty in its simplicity, with lava ground covered in many places by thousand years' old moss.

If you have some time before your departure flight, we recommend you take a relaxing bath at the famous Blue Lagoon, one of the 25 world wonders.
Note that this is only our recommendation, the admission to the Blue Lagoon is not included in the tour price. Booking for admission needs to be made by you on Blue Lagoon´s website.
If you choose to come here, it will take you around 2 hours and 30 minutes, including the driving time from Kleifarvatn Lake.
Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes

Stop At: Gunnuhver Hot Springs, East of Reykjanes Lighthouse GPS Points N63 49' 11.500 W22 41' 14.623, Grindavik Iceland
You spend some time visiting this geothermal area, which features steam vents, hot mud pools, and an incredible landscape shaped by the minerals in the ground. You see vibrant hues on steaming surfaces with the Reykjanes lighthouse in the background. This is undoubtedly a place not to miss!
Duration: 50 minutes

Stop At: Bridge Between Continents, Road 425 Iceland
You start today's itinerary by visiting the Reykjanes peninsula. The first stop is the famous Bridge between continents, where you can stand between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: CampEasy Iceland, Selvík, 230 Keflavík, Iceland
After arriving at our office, get some warm drinks, check on the souvenirs or share your memories from your trip with us! Our shuttle service can bring you to the airport or your hotel accommodation in Keflavik if requested.
