We had a great time doing this glacier climb. Our guide was great and took his time explaining everything. We were not hurried and the climb was completed at the pace of the slowest person. Our guide pointed out points of interest and was fun to be with.

The views, the weather, the hospitality, the hike and specially the tour guide Kari Timsson! He was so great, so much fun and so handsome. Ask for him if you take any of the tours, he can do it all! Highly recommend it!

If you have the opportunity to make this experience - don't hesitate!!! We did the 4 hour tour visiting an ice cave and walking the glacier with our guide Ben. It was incredible. Ben took care of everyone and adjusted the pace so that everyone could keep up. He has also given interesting information and background information on glaciers. We can only recommend the hike to everyone and many thanks to our guide Ben.We booked and paid about a month in advance, directly on their website, which was clear and simple. We booked and paid about a month in advance, directly on their website, which was clear and simple. Our group was only 6 people (3 sets of couples), which was nice, but for whatever reason, maybe they didn't have enough bookings or not enough staff, our 5-hour tour was grouped with 4 people who booked 3 hour tours. This was not really communicated to us at all until the guide said "we will come back to this parking lot at 1pm" and I realized something was not right. Especially because the other people didn't bring much with them. One couple didn't even have any water. I had to ask the guide what was going on. It turned out our guide was a freelancer who was called in last minute. The company bus/van had broken down, which was fine because everyone had cars and we could drive ourselves to the location of the start (which is not actually the park, that's just the meeting point). But the guide had intentionally left equipment on the glacier from a previous tour and we had to wait for him for quite a while to retrieve them, which was wasted time. Our guide was perfectly nice, capable, knowledgeable about glaciers, and had a great sense of humor. But we did not receive communications about what to expect during the tour. It's not entirely his fault because he was essentially a substitute. I do appreciate that he was transparent about this. Ultimately our tour did not end until about 2:30 or 3pm so the other 2 couples probably paid less than we did. And one of them actually missed a boat tour that day because of this. I don't think we had the typical or the full Icelandic Mountain Guide experience. The glacier was incredible but even with a small group, there was a lot of waiting around and not a lot of action. We are active people and that aspect of the tour was slightly disappointing so it felt like we overpaid for a less-than typical experience.
