Our guide Ronald was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history and culture of Penang during the tour. We had the chance to eat at places and try foods we never would have on our own, and the food was great!

Our family of four, two children aged 12 and 14, completed a tour with Ron last night. The tour advertises as a 'food tour', so we were expecting more exploration of local foods, good hawker stalls etc, but we only visited three food locations, and no hawker stalls. We could likely have done that on our own. With that said, however, Ron was such a wonderful guide. He is a retired teacher who did a great job of sharing the rich history in way that was not overwhelming. The entire family learned a lot about this great city, so at the end of the tour we were quite happy with our experience. If I could offer the operator some advice, I would suggest more food on the food tour, but otherwise, it was a lovely experience. We had a great experience exploring Georgetown with Mark and KL's Chinatown with Pauline. We had a great experience exploring Georgetown with Mark and KL's Chinatown with Pauline. A good food tour isn't just about the food (though that was great), but about everything that goes with it. These two showed us around their hometowns like we were visiting friends and gave us real insight into Malaysian culture. On top of that, they gave us loads of recommendations for places to visit for the rest of our stay.I have recently travelled on this tour, which was part food tour and part history tour. I have recently travelled on this tour, which was part food tour and part history tour. Our tour started late as we had two travellers who were not provided clear details on the meeting time and meeting point. Once started we headed to the first stop which was vegetarian indian, which was quite nice. The following tour or so was filled with a walking tour of Georgetown, with several stops and lots of stories told. We had two street style food stops which i didnt enjoy. We ended the tour with the cocktail bar, which was a nice way to end. I would recommend a general fitness level for this tour - including the right footwear. It would be great if the food choices were improved!Booked 4 hour food tour for two $218 AUD. Rang operator day before and on day to confirm booking and no answer. Booked 4 hour food tour for two $218 AUD. Rang operator day before and on day to confirm booking and no answer. At 16:30 Ron turned up at an old church to our relief. Walked to a vegetarian Indian restaurant and shared some bread with 3 dips and shared a different bread with some chip peas. Cost RM $12 about $4 AUD. Walked street and spoke about Chinese buildings. Stopped at a Indian hawker and shared some curry chicken and bread. Cost RM $5 about $2 AUD. Then walked to the popular Chulia St and had a small plate each of Char Koay Teow shared a small plate oyster omelette and had a Malay coffee each. Cost RM $22 about $8 AUD. So in total tasted 5 small dishes and had a coffee RM $39 about $14 AUD. For a $218 AUD outlay what a ripoff. Food is cheap and everywhere in Georgetown. Never tried popular dishes like Assam laska, Rojak, Cendol, Nasi Lemak, Curry Mee, prawn fritter, or visit Chew Jetty which you would expect on a food tour. Dropped off at a bar for a rum cocktail - yuck at 19:45. So 4 hour food tour was actually under 3 and a half hours. Got better advice from hotel staff and locals. VERY DISAPPOINTED AVOID.Mark is an excellent host providing us with a fun and informative tour around Georgetown visiting lots of interesting places and sampling various foods along the way. Mark is an excellent host providing us with a fun and informative tour around Georgetown visiting lots of interesting places and sampling various foods along the way. The food was plentiful and tasty and Mark took time to explain what we were eating. We certainly appreciated trying foods we wouldn't normally have attempted to order and it was all delicious. Mark also went above and beyond and gave us recommendations for restaurants in Georgetown and also the next stop along our trip. Thanks Mark we had a great time. Sharon and Richard.
