Stop At: Alajuela Province, La Fortuna, Costa Rica
The day will start with an early pick up, right after breakfast so you can have the right energy for the amazing day that awaits you!
We will drive for about 20 minutes to the beautiful River of Penas Blancas, close from La Fortuna where our journey will begin...
Once at the river, after the guide's talk and the safety life jackets and helmets are on you will seat on a raft that can fit up to 5-6 people and your assigned guide, this will be a peaceful ride flowing down the river, slowly overlooking and experiencing what is like to be in the middle of the rainforest.
Pay attention to the sounds and the fabulous animals that the guide will point out for you to see, among others, there will be monkeys, sloths, iguanas, toucans, birds and much more!
A refreshing snack with tropical juices and fruits will be provided in the middle of the river at a nice clear, it can't get any more natural than this!

This is an opportunity that you cannot miss, when visiting the Arenal area you must visit La Fortuna Waterfall! This outstanding natural fall is what you need to do so you can say you have experienced the rainforest of Costa Rica!
Once at the park, there are main facilities so you can put on your swimming suit and get started with the 500 steps hike down for about 20 minutes. Take your time, breath in the fresh air and enjoy the views of this amazing canyon, pay attention to the birds near you and lookout for little animals to see!
At the bottom you will presence the magnificent natural waterfall that lies right in front of you... what are you waiting for? Jump in to the water and swim! Go explore the surroundings, take pictures and relax!
When is time to go get ready to hike back up for about 25 minutes, change your clothes and after a short drive the most delicious lunch awaits you!

The Arenal Volcano is the main feature of this unique destination and hike around it is a great experience!
You will start with a hike through the rainforest that was formed around the base of the volcano and will continue to pass through the different areas as you get closer until you reach the old lava trails.
This is not strenuous hike, it will be slow paced so you can see as much wildlife and learn as much about it as possible, but not just that, take some time to overlook the fantastic views that it gives you by being up there, the lake, the forests, the sunset... will be an extraordinary experience!

- Please bring tennis or hiking shoes (watershoes for safari float), a bottle of water, raincoat, comfortable clothes, repellent, swimming suit and camera.

- A minimum of 2 people per booking is required

- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Travellers must bring face masks, however if they do not have it available, we have a kit for each traveller that contains face mask and gloves if necessary. Groups and families of 5 travellers or more go private.

A wonderful and exciting day. Everyone at Rain Forest Explorers is so nice and so accommodating. Hansel was THE BEST tour guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about Costa Rica. He focused on our seeing and learning all about Costa Rican nature and making sure our experience the very best it could be. (Love that he steered our tour group around a trail of leaf cutter ants so we could learn about them, not step on them or deter them from their mission.) We saw so much wildlife on the float - sloth, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, jesus lizards, kingfishers, egrets, owls, and more. Maybe the highlight of our trip. The waterfall was beautiful, though the climb back up was tiring. The vocano hike was very relaxing. Our guide, Ansel, was outstanding - very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions patiently and fully, and a good sense of humor. Mainor was quiet, but kept us safe on the road. Lunch was served by the owners at their rancho, and it was delicious and filling. Outstanding, highly recommended!Bdl3000

Our family spent 2 days touring with Rain Forest Explorers. Our favorite activities were the safari float, Mistico hanging bridges, the waterfall and the volcano hike. Even after reading all the great reviews on trip advisor, they still exceeded our expectations! We were picked up on time each morning from our hotel by our amazing guide, Hansel Our daily schedule was arranged perfectly to arrive at each tour spot BEFORE the other day trips / large tour companies. We avoided the crowds and were fortunate to see LOTS of animals at each location while it was still quiet. Between the safari float and hanging bridges we saw 5 troops of monkeys, many sloths, bats, frogs, snakes, squirrels, coati, many species of beautiful birds, toucans, and owls. Hansel set up his telescope for each sighting so we could have an amazing close up view of the animals. He even took pics from our phone through the telescope that came out great. Hansel is extremely knowledgable about local plants, trees and animals. He knew the different birds and monkeys by sound and did an excellent job of spotting them. Hansel was the best tour guide we have ever had. He was very knowledgable, personable and friendly. He taught us a lot about Costa Rica and helped us work on our Spanish. He also took family pics for us in the most beautiful spots that are the best vacation pics we have. Rainforest Explorers is a family owned tour company providing first class service on amazing tours! They treat you like family, including preparing a homemade authentic Costa Rican lunch for you that was the best meal we had in Costa Rica. So glad we had it twice! Antonio arrived as planned at 7:05, and was overflowing with enthusiasm the second he stepped off the van to greet us! He introduced himself to each of my kids, and I knew we had chosen a great venue to explore the Arenal area. We got to see several monkey's, vultures, sloths, iguanas, and toucans. Between the float trip and the waterfall was a tasty snack including cheese slices, fried plantains, and a native cake that I can best describe as similar to a lemon bar? The waterfall was spectacular! The lunch that followed was phenomenal! They offered chicken, steak, or a vegetarian option. My kids, two who are regularly picky, scarfed it up. Our stomachs were full, but it wasn't complete until an ice-cream dessert was served. After the volcano hike, we came back to exquisitely sliced pineapple and watermelon prepared by our driver. When all was done, my daughter's comment was "I learned more science in 10 hours than have in 2 years of jr. high school!" We all had an outstanding time!!
