Overview

This is a wonderful alternative to an airboat ride … quiet, peaceful and surreal. It is a leisurely paddle experience with a naturalist guide who throughout the tour will be interpreting and explaining what you are seeing. It is a great learning experience in a very unique part of the Everglades. The Everglades is a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. Throughout the forest are brackish "lakes" whose waters are a mix of "sweet" fresh water and salt water. They are refuges and nursery grounds for alligators, herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills,  otters, orchids and bromeliads and a gamut of fishes. Some lakes are host to colonies of roosting and breeding birds. Interconnecting these lakes are narrow, flowing tidal creeks. The mangrove forest grows to the very edge and over the tops of these creeks forming a canopy or a tunnel. The dense canopy regulates moisture and humidity allowing  to thrive.

Awesome tour through a beautiful area! We paddled through both cypress swamp and mangrove tunnels. The blooming bromeliads were incredible! The guide was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, and tailored the tour to our interests. Overall we had a great time!

We had a lovely time with Bill exploring the mangroves, etc by kayak. He was very knowledgeable about both flora and fauna. The double kayaks and equipment were excellent quality and well maintained. We highly recommend this tour.

Peaceful, educational kayak ride in Big Cyprèss mangrove. Quiet, low key guide providing the right amount of explanation and of space to the different guests. Three hours that went quickly at a slow pace in a serene environment.

Carter was an amazing tour guide. This tour was a thrilling experience. We heard an orchestra of gators and frogs on our tour. We saw baby gators, big gators, turtles and snakes but Carter made us feel safe and secure. This was an experience I will never forget.
