Holger provided us with a knowledgeable and fascinating overview of German/Russian/Allied history in the 20th century and how this was played out in different locations in and around Potsdam. Holger is a 'Potsdamer' and therefore was able to share his own experience and how it felt when Germany was still divided. This brought what we saw even more to life. Potsdam itself is beautiful. Our walk and visit to Cecilienhof took us to many interesting stops on the way, which we would not have found, if we had not taken the tour. Our highlight was the Glienicker Brücke. It sat in beautiful sunlight. However, the bridge itself and its surroundings nevertheless triggered images of film-noir spy exchanges. We will consider another tour with Holger when we are next in Berlin.Mr. Holger met me, my wife, and daughter at the train station and he gave us a fascinating, fact filled tour of Potsdam during Soviet times showing us "the forbidden city" and the site of the Conference dividing Germany after the war. Mr. Holger met me, my wife, and daughter at the train station and he gave us a fascinating, fact filled tour of Potsdam during Soviet times showing us "the forbidden city" and the site of the Conference dividing Germany after the war. He was very well informed about its history having lived in Potsdam during Soviet times. He also carried pictures of what it was like right after the war. Although Cecilienhof was closed the day we toured, he walked around the building letting us see in the windows where Truman, Churchill, and Stalin stayed. He was a lively guide and we would like to do his other tours because it was an intellectual experience as well as a first hand tour. It ended at the Bridge of Spies. We highly recommend it!We enjoyed the informative tour from our tour guide Holger as he walked us through the town center, city square to see the town that was rebuilt after WWII. We enjoyed the informative tour from our tour guide Holger as he walked us through the town center, city square to see the town that was rebuilt after WWII. We also visited the castle where Potsdam conference was held where US, Soviet and UK leaders decided on dropping the atomic bomb in Japan in 1945. Our visit ended at the Bridge of Spies which was featured in a movie by Tom Hanks! It was a very well presented tour and we had a wonderful time!We (three old friends - German, American, and Russian) thoroughly enjoyed a fascinating kayak through 20th century history stopping to see from the water and learn the significance of various landmarks along the lake near Potsdam. We (three old friends - German, American, and Russian) thoroughly enjoyed a fascinating kayak through 20th century history stopping to see from the water and learn the significance of various landmarks along the lake near Potsdam. We learned fascinating details about the Potsdam Conference and the ensuing Cold War, all while paddling these waters infused with recent history. Holger is an excellent guide, knowledgeable, friendly and understated. He said he'd "try" doing the tour in English and his English was near-perfect, perfectly spiced with a nice local accent. Holger told us about the Potsdam Conference attendees - temporary inhabitants of the mansions along the lake (Churchill, Truman, Stalin and their entourage), their interactions and behavior while there in the summer of 1945. We learned the history of exchanges on the Bridge of Spies while gently bobbing up and down on wakes from passing boats in the shadow below Glienicke Bridge. Holger has lots of global and local knowledge, having grown up in this lake region and having obviously read many historical sources. He's well organized with photographs and other factual information in a folder that he opens for display at key points. He's passionate about this history that forcibly marked his early life. I greatly enjoyed Holger's program as well as the conversation we had while paddling between points of interest. For me, having spent my formative years in the old Soviet Union, this was an unforgettable experience that i would recommend to anyone interested in history and kayaking. We had a lovely kayak tour along the historic shoreline in Potsdam. Holger is well organised, very nice, and provides the right level of detail. It was a fascinating, informative tour. I recommend this company highly.
