Dugan shares a lot of great history about Portland. The pace was relaxed and pleasant and I enjoyed the small group. It was obvious how well informed and excited about about Portland history Dugan is. I highly recommend this tour if you love history

Great easy walk with plenty of stops. Dugan has a deep knowledge of history that he shares with enthusiasm. I also enjoyed the friendliness of the people of Portland during the walk. If we are back in the area we will take another of his tours.

We had an amazing 'Portland Hidden History Tour' with Dugan, so glad we took the time during our visit to do this. Who knew Portland had so much hidden history? Dugan was enthusiastic and passionate, exactly what you want with a tour guide, and happily answered all of our questions. Next trip to Portland we're signing up for the African-American tour... or the Women's tour... or, maybe both. Even if you don't think you are into tours, do it. Dugan's tour allowed us to get a lay of the land, some history, and the opportunity to engage in fun, thought provoking conversations. This was a great walking tour. We got a good feel for this part of the city, learned a lot of interesting history with food for thought that is relevant in today's world. And it was very fun! Dugan has so much to share and is super kind, insightful, thoughtful, and fun.

We had a great time on the Hidden Histories Tour! Dougan has great energy; it is clear that he is passionate about history, and the whole experience was very warm and friendly. Even though we live in Portland, we learned a ton about the political, social, economic, and architectural history of the city. These topics were woven together with narrative coherence that made the tour engaging and easy to follow. We particularly liked the amount of Black and Women's history included, specifically the narratives that women and people of color exercising agency. We would definitely take out-of-town (or in-town) friends on this tour, and look forward to taking Dougan’s other tours! After spending a few days exploring Portland for the first time, this tour offered historical insight and perspective to the important and interesting sights in the Old Port, Downtown, and Commercial Street Areas. After spending a few days exploring Portland for the first time, this tour offered historical insight and perspective to the important and interesting sights in the Old Port, Downtown, and Commercial Street Areas. Dugan is very knowledgeable on the history and personalities, including the contributions of Women, African Americans and Asian Americans. He was quite gracious in answering all our questions and even made helpful recommendations for dinner, snacks, and gelato. Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning more about this historic port city.
