Overview
It is situated less than 300 kilometres from Dar es Salaam, which makes it a very popular park due to its accessibility. The Mikumi flood plain dominates the park, where lion is commonly seen as are packs of wild dog, a rarity elsewhere in Africa.
Leopard, Giraffe, elephant, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, eland, crocodiles, monitor lizard and python are some of the many inhabitants of Mikumi.

What to expect
Day 1: Dar es salaam/Zanzibar to Mikumi
Stop At: Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
Early breakfast you will be picked from your hotel in Zanzibar at 05:00am to the aiport to catch your flight to Dar es salaam. On arrival you will be received by our driver/guide to Mikumi by 4x4. Arrival in the Park after 4 hours depending on the traffic on the highway, lunch at Morongoro Town then drive into Mikumi National Park. Game drive till late in the evening dinner and overnight

Stop At: Mikumi National Park, Tanzania
After early breakfast, sunrise game drive in Mikumi National Park, Then with picnic lunch game drive till afternoon then drive back to Dar es Salaam airport departure at 1730hrs arrival Zanzibar at 1800 Hours, Transfer back to your hotel and overnight

We had such an amazing experience on this trip! We really enjoyed the private car with fridge and rooftop and we saw so many animals in the national park. Our tour guide Gaston was a real highlight, so knowledgeable, polite, friendly and really wanted to ensure we had the best time and maximised our time driving inside the park. Finding the most unique places to stop for lunch. Our flights got changed by the airline a month before arriving and so we had to move everything including this safari forward by a day and this was easily altered by the company without complaint. The value of this trip was outstanding which included private vehicle, park passes, accommodation and food. The visit to see the local people was certainly unique and interesting. We were also lucky to be the only people at the hotel (Tan Swiss) and had the pool to ourselves! The evening meal there was amazing, huge portions. We felt safe at all times even though the national park has no boundary so at any point animals can be seen everywhere in the local area but there were security on site! We had a night either side in Dar Es and followed this trip with a 6 night stay on Zanzibar and found it to be the perfect length between safari and island time. Nous avons pris l'option avec départ avion de zanzibar via Dar el Salam A/R, pour 2 jours dans le parc Mikumi. A l'arrivée à Dar el Salam, notre chauffeur était là qui nous attendait. Le transfert est assez long (5h) , une pause déjeuner est prévue sur la route , arrivée au parc, notre chauffeur (NICO) était là , très sympa , pro , toujours à la recherche du meilleur spot de vue (vus éléphants, lions, girafes, buffles, lycaons, hyppos, crocos, etc...), le soir nous sommes restes dans un petits lodge (douche, wc , confort ok). Restaurant sur place pour diner ,et petit dèj le matin. Départ à 7h45 pour visite du parc , et retour par la route à 11h30 , arrivée à l'aéroport à 19h pour prendre notre avion. Merci à notre chauffeur qui a roulé prudemment dans des km de queues de camions , qui a su rusé et prendre des raccourcis! Sylver sky travel est une agence qui tient les promesses , merci à LODRICK avec qui j'ai organisé les transferts et billets avions, par WhatsApp. Seul bémol , si je devais le refaire , prendre l'option avec atterrissage direct dans le parc , plus rapide et moins fatigant Super séjour de 2 jours!Merci beaucoup à Ibrahim, notre guide/nouvel ami qui nous a pris en charge de l’aéroport jusqu’au parc, nous a expliqué toute la vie des animaux dans la savane et a pu nous en faire voir un maximum en un minimum de temps ! Expérience parfaite au parc Mikumi notre guide Ibra a été super ! On a pu voir tous les animaux de la savane ! Deux jours c’est suffisant… en partant de Zanzibar il faut savoir que c’est un long voyage : 1 demi h de vol mais ensuite c’est 7 h de route le premier jour et 7 h le lendemain ( sur une route très dangereuse) Je vous conseille de prendre un avion pour arriver directement dans le parc ! A great experience for the whole family. The staff were wonderful and 2 days is probably just right for a young family. There was a lot of driving involved from Dar Es Salaam to the park and a flight may have been better. If my maths is correct, we saw 4 of the big 5, with many highlights including seeing Lionesses feed in the morning - we also saw a Zebra crossing the road (pun intended!!!). The hotel and food was also more than adequate - definitely a great family safari experience!
