We had a great time on our sailing trip. Our captain and crew were so much fun and relayed so much history and geological information to us. All of this despite the lack of wind, making it more of an extended cruise. But any day on the water is a good day. I would definitely go again.

What an incredible way to see Skagway and the fjord! Capt. Brendan and Chef Ciara were so kind and fun to hang out with. They taught us the basics of sailing and let us pull in some lines and steer the boat. We didn't have a ton of wind, but it was nice to be out on the water and get up close to the waterfalls. Highly recommend stopping in to Skagway Brewing before to bring some crowlers on board, though they provided great snacks and other drink options. They even sent us back into town after with some amazing recommendations off the beaten path. Really made the trip complete for us! I loved the small group aspect -- it turned out to be just our group of 4 which made the experience so much more personal! They were also great at taking photos for us so we'll have great memories to reflect on. They are a newer company, and only recently started doing day trips -- they have a bright future ahead!Brendan and Ciara were great. We got lucky and it was just them and the two of us. They have a nice cabin to keep us warm when we were cold, and beanbags and blankets on deck when we wanted to be outside. We saw some eagles and a seal. They have a nice cabin to keep us warm when we were cold, and beanbags and blankets on deck when we wanted to be outside. We saw some eagles and a seal. It was great to spend most of the time under sail. No engines, no humming motor. Just the wind flapping on the sails. My partner and I spent a week in Skagway. My partner and I spent a week in Skagway. Skagway itself is a beautiful town, but it gets busy during the high season. We were looking for a way to experience the solitude of Alaska, so we booked the sailing trip with Captain Brendan. It was absolutely the best experience we had during the entire week. We boarded the sail boat from a conveniently located dock. Captain Brendan briefed us about safety, and we were underway. We first went to a beautiful waterfall, which we could see up close. Around the waterfall was so much wildlife: seals, otters, eagles. We then sailed to Dyea, on the south side of the Chilkoot Pass. The town of Skagway disappeared, and all we could see were wonderful glacier-covered mountains. We were being propelled by wind, and it was such a peaceful experience. Captain Brendan told us about the history of the area, and the gold rush. He was also so knowledgeable about the local geology, animals and plants. We felt so lucky to escape the crowds and experience Alaska the way we had imagined it.Brendan and Sierra were excellent hosts! Our time on Hopscotch made a truly excellent day in Skagway. Brendan and Sierra were excellent hosts! Our time on Hopscotch made a truly excellent day in Skagway. On a cruise ship we did most of our crossing at night, so it was a relaxing privilege to see the Fjord during the day. Our clear skies meant we saw seals, eagles, and clear views of the short autumn season! Our hosts were knowledgeable and definitely made us comfortable with a mixed level of experience on sailboats. 10/10 would recommend their single day excursions and I wish we had time to take their multi-day charter! This was an amazing trip and a must. The views were beautiful and the crew was awesome. Highly recommend. Thank you Northwest Adventures for making our trip memorable.
