We didn't know anything about Bruges before this tour. Despite the vast difference between our (total lack of) knowledge and Koen's PhD-level expertise regarding Bruges, we had a fantastic time together. He was able to provide basic tourist-level info and also rich, historic context for all of the places he showed us. We have taken some great city tours, but we have never taken a tour from someone with as much local knowledge as Koen. The best part was that he didn't just talk at us, he encouraged us to ask questions and we ended up learning so much about this beautiful city!If you are looking to experience more than the superficial charms of Bruges, then a walking tour with Koen is a must. If you are looking to experience more than the superficial charms of Bruges, then a walking tour with Koen is a must. Koen was a fund of information about his home town, its history, its architecture and its central place in the medieval world. To top it all off, Koen recommended an excellent bar and restaurant for dinner that was vastly superior to the overpriced tourist traps. Highly recommended.Travelling with Koen is a perfect way to explore the city. Although I’m familiar with the history of the city. Koen, as a local historian and very passionate about his city, could surprise me with fun facts and interesting insights. Unique experience
