Private Guide Meet In Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Overview
We created this activity to make learning about volcanoes budget and family-friendly. There is so much to learn in the Park and so much to see it would be difficult to know how to prioritize if you are on your own. Ride along in our Mercedes van and see video footage of past eruptions. This tour is customized to your and your group's interests. There are easy hikes and more difficult hikes, there is a lot to see and do if you have a little help with your options.
Give you and your family an exciting experience you will remember and get more out of the National Park than you would if you were on your own!

What to expect
On the afternoon of 9/10/23 Kilauea resumed erupting after a 3-month pause. We don't know how long this eruption may last and we can not control if you will or will not see lava. We want everyone to see lava. With this tour we meet you in the Park, or leave the driving to us and book our Kona Volcano with a pickup on the west side of the island. We made the 5 AM start a different tour because lava changes.
In this action-packed 3 1/2 hours we drive for only about 50-55 minutes, we have many stops and show you the best of the Park.
This Park is a World UNESCO Heritage site. Get the most out of your visit to this treasure. On this tour, you will learn about Hawaii's volcanoes, walk through lava fields, see video footage of eruptions, learn about native plants and birds. We do a minimum 1-mile walk on a paved path, we are happy to recommend trails after the tour.
You will see steam vents, lava tube, lava trees, fissure cracks, pit craters, caldera. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the size of Oahu and has some amazing and unique scenery.
**Dress code: Closed-toe shoes and it can be COLD sometimes. Dress in layers. Please ensure children are not COLD, and dress accordingly.**

We visited Hawaii for the first time with another couple, and we went to the big island specifically to visit Volcano National Park. We had some hesitation in paying for a guide, since we figured we could read all about it and find the lava flow, etc. however, we would do it all over again. Robert is a very knowledgeable guide who shared a lot of information with us that we would not have gotten on our own. He was great to keep in contact with us about what time we should arrive, and the importance of that as it was getting daylight earlier each day, and he wanted to make sure we had a good period of darkness to view the lava. We arrived right on time, he drove us to the area where we took a short hike to the lava, and we were treated to amazing views. As he drove us to other areas in the park, he was careful to avoid rainy places that he noted in the distance, so we could enjoy our tour without rain (stay on the big island for a week and you will understand our appreciation). Not only is Robert enthusiastic in sharing his volcano knowledge, he is also well versed in the flora and fauna of the area. We asked lots of questions, and our 4 tour was over too quickly. At his suggestion we then ate breakfast at the Lava House, which ended up being the perfect thing to do after our tour.Fabulous experience with Rob. Very knowledgable, friendly and thorough. I would recommend him highly.

We took the 6 hour Volcano National Parks tour with Jodi in mid-April. It was an absolutely spectacular experience for our family. First we got to see the lava flowing from the volcano. After that, Jodi showed us all around the park giving us information about the landscape, the birds and flowers, and the history of the area. My kids say this was the highlight of their trip to the Big Island. We would highly recommend taking a tour with Big Island VIP.
