Miki has a personal touch and speaks excellent English. She is emphatic, caring and a very dynamic person with lots of experience in her work. She has this incredible talent of being able to anticipate your needs even before you thought of it. Bubbly and cheerful, Miki is one in a million! Thanks Miki for making my trip to Shanghai so memorable.

My group is here for business so we were thrilled to find an evening tour that we can take from Shanghai after the business day. Miki is the easiest guide, flexible, full of great information and created many experiences in one evening. My colleagues are STILL talking about how this was one of the top tours and best sites they have ever experienced. There is a 1+ hour ride out of the city in a comfortable AC vehicle - it is worth it to see rural China. We took over 100 pictures, had fun failing at creating the perfect dumpling, heard a sitar played with a local meal, tea tasting with Miki who is a tea expert and a wine tasting. There is a boat ride in the water town which is a similar experience to the gondolas in Venice. This was so beautiful and fun, everyone raved about Miki and we laughed many times. What a fantastic evening. Highest regards for this tour and Miki. Definitely book it.

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Communication was quick and easy. Miki is friendly, funny and full of information - it felt like having a good friend show us around. Perfectly paced tour, with time for strolling. Most incredibly, Miki managed to make the entire tour gluten free - snacks, dumplings, and dinner out. We were delighted with how this tour went, and cannot thank Miki enough. A truly wonderful day.

Fantastic tour by Miki, owner and our tour guide. I liken Xitang as a Chinese Venice. Miki treated us like royalty. She will cater the tour to your desire. We enjoyed a canal boat ride, walking tour, mini tea ceremony, exquisite cuisine, Chinese wine, shopping, Karaoke and surprise gifts. Miki tours does not disappoint.

I was in Shanghai for only a short period of time and wanted to see as much as I can in two nights. I signed up for a city/food tour which was enough for one night and Miki, tour guide/owner, also suggested a modified short version of the Xitang Water Village Tour. It was by far one of the best tours! It was culturally rich and it was nice to experience a town outside of central Shanghai. Miki and her other accompanied tour guides went out of their way to make sure we (group of 6) were comfortable and satisfied. The views of Xitang at night was absolutely stunning. The water town was thriving at night - filled with families and people of all ages. We had Chinese wine tasting, home made cooking, short boat ride with beer, stroll through alleys, and shopping. It was an unforgettable experience. I will definitely be back with my spouse and experience the entire tour (7hrs) since my version was shorten due to my schedule.

We booked this trip as 2 families (3 adults and 4 teenagers). So glad we did. It was a private tour with just our group in a large air conditioned mini bus that held 14 people. We were collected fro our hotel and dropped of at 2 different hotels as requested . Nothing was too much and the guide “ Mary” was kind, considerate, helpful and fun. We stopped at a shopping mail at our request to get an item. No problem at all. Mary gave us an education about Shanghai and the Chinese way of life. We discussed food and diet and fruit cake up in the chat. This led to the tour stopping at a Dragon Fruit farm and picking our own with the locals . This was not in the schedule and was a great experience. As we our friends showed interest in Dim Sum, at the Water Village we were taken to a small hotel and had a lesson how to make Dim Sum and all had a try. Again not on the schedule and of the cuff. Great fun again. We had a ride in a Chinese Wooden Boat (Chinese Gondola). We were collected at 2pm and did not get back to our hotel in Shanghai until around 11pm The Water town is an interesting place with an insight in to poorer China. Lovely photos and great fun. When it is dark there is a bar street that is something like you would get in Ibiza . The dinner is Mediocre at best but this does not distract from such an awesome experience At the end of the tour, when we arrived back at our hotel Mary gave us some personalised gifts . I will not spoil your experience and tell you. You will be amazed. Would definitely suggest the evening tour and highly recommend Miki Tours and would suggest requesting Mary.

Our lovely English speaking tour guide Mary arrived promptly to meet us at our hotel. We hopped into an air conditioned mini van and made our 2hr drive to Xitang. Mary was super organized, there was plenty of bottled water in the van, she offered my teenage children WiFi as well as a portable mobile phone charger. She was great! As we made our way out of Shanghai city, Mary spoke about the history of Shanghai. Places to see and eat during our stay in Shanghai city. We made a stop at a dragon fruit farm and there my children did dragon fruit picking. That was interesting. We took enough for us to eat later on the trip. Mary was very knowledgeable and informative about Xitang. Xitang was absolutely gorgeous, a small charming town which reminded us of Venice. Our boat ride along the canal was fantastic. We walked through the cobble stone town and then stopped at a bar. There we had Chinese beer (I’m not a beer drinker but I really enjoyed it - it was light and refreshing!) We snacked on the dragon fruit with some chips and even got on the karaoke machine. But before that, the manager of the bar serenaded us with a couple of Chinese classics. Mary also sang a song for us. They were both fantastic! From there we had a short walk to our restaurant and ate some local cuisine. We left Mary in charge of ordering and nothing was left behind. My teenage children ate everything. We left Xitang around 9pm and got back to our hotel just after 10.30pm. It was a very memorable evening thanks to our very knowledgeable, helpful and fun tour guide Mary.

We lived for 6 years in Shanghai. Back visiting we decided to have one day where someone else did all the organizing and we just followed along. We had seen all the usual water towns but had not heard of Xitang so we booked the evening tour (also a good idea in summer because it's so hot!). Miki tours were great. They were quick to respond, payment was easy (Paypal), and just a few days before our tour, they let me change from Saturday to Sunday which was awesome. Zoe, our guide, showed up at our hard to find apartment on time with a huge brand new luxury Mercedes bus to take our family of five to Xitang. Xitang is the nicest water town I've visited - it's not as crowded as the others as it's a bit further out. Especially after dark, it's really nice to wander around and take a boat trip. It's really nicely lit up. Zoe bought us some nice gifts and we had lots of food and beer at dinner. We never felt rushed, we could go at our own pace. Zoe was knowledgeable on the history of Xitang and the Pearl River Delta in general. Overall a fantastic trip. We'll be planning another trip next time we are back in china.

The Sunset Tour was an experience I will always remember thanks to the passion and personal touch Miki puts in to making her guests have a great time. I totally recommend Miki Tours. We were lucky enough to have Miki the owner of her tour company. Starting with a huge and luxurious bus for the 6 of us arriving early. On the drive out from Shanghai city, Miki was so informative about the history of Shanghai and other parts of China. I want to write all the things we did throughout the day but that would spoil it, as there was one enjoyable moment after another. You are well fed, well watered and well looked after all day & night. Xitang Village is unique and loved walking through the alleys of shops, bars and other businesses but also enjoying an amazing meal at a personally selected restaurant by Miki. Food was delicious. We continued to walk thru the village, getting lessons about the area before ending up at Miki's Bar and she surprised us once more!! It was a fantastic day, so organised, so passionate and Miki is such an impressive woman. Could not rate her and the tour more highly.

I booked only an afternoon trip to Xitang so i didn't expect too much because i have been to Zhujiajiao few years ago. I just wanted to see different kind of water village. But beyond my expectatiion, Mary, our guide, organized the trip perfectly. Our trip started at 2:30 pm in the middle of the city. She was kind enough to come up to 5th floor of the Corso como to pick us up! On the way to Xitang, she gave us compact explanation of Shanghai. At Miki's sister's beautiful tea house, we had the delicious chicken soup and home made dumplings. We all loved to be there!!! Xitang was quite different from Zhujiajiao. The atomosphere was lively. We looked around the town and took hundreds of pictures. Mary was also a great photographer. Then She took us to a bar where she sang a song playing guitar. She was multi-talented! It was beautiful to see the Xitang in red lights . We had dinner afterwards and headedback to our Hotel. Miki tour is so well organized and Mary's enthusiasm was contagious. It was a impressive tour. We all cherished the time there!

Very good private tour with driver and guide. Just myself and husband. Calm afternoon boat ride at Jinze followed by dumplings and tea in a private home. Then excellent walking tour around Xitang as the light faded, the coloured lights came on and the town came alive. Live music everywhere (sometimes too much!) and souvenir shops plus small restaurants galore. Probably less touristy than other water towns during the day.

Ive been working and living in Shanghai for a few years now so it was wonderful to take this tour and dig beyond the central city. Even as a Shanghai veteran, the water villages totally surprised me, and Miki was the perfect host.

We were picked up from the Hilton hotel and driven to Jinze, the first water town of the day.
The boatman greeted us for a 30 minute ride on the canal. We came around a corner and saw the completely undisturbed water town. We were the only ones there and felt completely at peace, not to mention a little bit spoiled! More spoiling was to come after the boat ride as we were invited into Mikis tea house. Mikis sister Nancy had just cooked a chicken soup for 3 hours - it was tender, delicate and completely delicious! We also tried chrysanthemum and Longjing teas, as well as handmade dumplings.

We arrived to the second part of the tour around 6pm. We loved how Xitang is totally different from Jinze. From quiet Jinze to bustling Xitang - such a contrast and both completely fascinating!

We wandered through the alleys by the canals, checking out all the bars, restaurants and little shops along the way. We visited a wine store where Miki invited us to taste their homemade wines. There were dozens of flavors all made of different Chinese herbs. They had a fun range of bottles too so you could choose your favorite wine of which we found many! and match it with a bottle to take home. I couldnt believe it when the shop owner gave me the wine I liked most as a gift, because we were Mikis client! That was just another special touch that made this so much more than just a tour.

To finish up, we went to Mikis friends bar. Miki totally surprised us by jumping up and singing like a professional! Amazing.

We not only had an incredible day but by the end of it, we also felt that wed made a great new friend. A five star day through and through. Thank you Miki, we will see you again!

Mary was our guide. Picked us up promptly from our hotel. She is one of the best guide I have ever encountered. She is knowledgeable, friendly and always accommodating to our requests. Although the tour is pretty long, from 230pm till about 10pm, there was never a dull moment. I shall not mention any spoilers here, just book this tour and enjoy :) A word of advice, don't eat too much for lunch. There is plenty to eat during the tour.

What an incredible day out with Miki Tours! We started by visiting her sister at a traditional and very cool! teahouse. Her sister made us delicious dumplings and chicken soup - so good for the soul! The water town that the teahouse was in Jinze? is completely tourist-free and super local. It really gave us a feel for the real life in China.
I've been to a few water towns around Shanghai but Xitang is my new favourite! Amazing atmosphere, stunning views and a great local feel. We ate some delicious snacks along the way and also tried several different flavours of a delicious Chinese wine. It was particularly fun doing the sunset tour - the sunset was great and the village really came alive when it was dark - very atmospheric!
Our guide, Miki was caring, informative, entertaining and extremely sweet. I recommend this tour to anyone - you're in for a treat!

Before leaving for Asia we went on Trip Advisor to check out the top 10 things to do in Shanghai. We were going to be traveling with another couple so sent them a list of our top 3 choices, with Miki Tours being our first choice. Together we decided to book with Miki Tours. Prior to leaving the U.S. we had communicated with Miki Tours and received the most gracious and PROMPT response. Our tour was supposed to begin at a hotel in Shanghai, however we were on a cruise ship, so our traveling companions contacted Miki Tours to see if there was a way that we could be picked up at the Cruise Terminal. They were completely accommodating and we had exchanged phone numbers and tested it through WhatsApp which worked beautifully. Also, texting worked well! While on board ship, we met another couple that was interested in doing the tour as well so we contacted them to see if it would work to add 2 others. Again, they accommodated our request! When we arrived in Shanghai our precious guide, Zoe Zhao, was there with a sign with our names on it. She picked us up promptly at 10:00am and we knew immediately we were in for a treat. Smart, chic, totally knowledgeable, and shared stories with the 6 of us on our 1 1/2 hour drive to the water village country side. The water village is like a place where time has stood still (yet with some modern conveniences like running water, toilets and electricity). The area itself is doing basically the same thing that has been done for the last 600 years!!! They are artisans and fishermen and everywhere you looked there was a "Kodak" moment! The gentleman that put us on his small river boat that he paddled standing up with a single oar in the rear of the boat and the stories he shared made for a personal and memorable time. It was quiet, peaceful and your cares just drifted away. We reached our destination and got off the boat, profusely thanking this kind gentleman! Miki has a sister that lives in the village and we were going there for lunch. We were the only ones there and were treated to a 12 course lunch where every course was better than the last!! Thinking we could not even move we were so full we were not done yet! We went upstairs to a tea room and Zoe explained and performed a tea ceremony. There is such symbolism with every aspect - even down to the temperature of the water, and the fresh young tea leaves made for the most delicious tasting tea ever (Lipton - eat your heart out!!) If that weren't enough, we then got back into the Mercedes Van and drove to an area that is famous for their strawberries and had a strawberry picking experience - eating more than we picked, of course. They were SO red, SO ripe and SO delicious it makes my mouth water just remembering! Not done yet!! We drove again in the comfort of the van to Xitang Water Village. It was amazing and much more 'commercial' than our 'private' water village experience. There were interesting shops and artisans still doing their crafts. Zoe showed us where Tom Cruise was running on the roof tops in Mission Impossible 3. So much fun to be able to be in the exact place where the movie had been filmed. We went to a friend of Miki's restaurant right on the canal and have never had better pot stickers and buns. Everything we did was relaxed, comfortable, professional, entertaining, amazingly interesting and memory making. The 6 of us concurred that as much as we have traveled and as many tours that we have been on, this was, without a doubt, the BEST TOUR EVER. Zoe was at our disposal every step of the way and you could tell that her MAIN PURPOSE was to make SURE we had enjoyed ourselves. We hope Miki realizes what a gem she has in Zoe and her attentiveness to detail and eagerness to make sure we were getting the BEST experience. She was always ready to show us the BEST spots for picture taking and was willing to capture the moments of us and with multiple cameras!! She gave of herself far beyond our expectations. It's a shame that there are only 5 stars to rate this company. We would prefer to give them a SOLID 10! THANK YOU, ZOE and MIKI, for your amazing tour company. We wish you ALL LIFE'S BLESSINGS and SUCCESSES. With gratitude, Carol and Bob Shimp

This was an amazing trip from beginnng to end. We would rate it as one of the best excursions we have ever done. Our tour guide Mary was exceptional. Highly recommend doing the Sunset Tour. We enjoyed the peace and serenity of the non tourist water town we went to first. Then the lights and colour of Xitang was such a contrast to say nothing of the food and experiences we had. First class all the way.

Jinze boat riding to Mikis teahouse and romantic Xitang water village, a very unique experience!

We booked the Xitang Sunset Tour based on the excellent reviews.
The tour started with the water town of Jinze. Traditional and undeveloped water town , A gondola boat brought us to Mikis teahouse, where Nancy Mikis sister prepared authentic home made dumplings and other food for us the chicken soup was really great!.
After Jinze, we went to Xitang water village ,Also a traditional 2000 year historical water town. Once the night comes, a complete change occurs. You realize all of a sudden that there are plenty of restaurants and bars, and also dancings . Chinas young people, with plenty of energy, dance with so much enthusiasm!
Traditional China and modern life in the same little town! A very living ancient water village !!! Amazing!!!
The tour ended in a little bar in Xitang. We had a big surprise: all of a sudden, a singer went on the stage: it was Miki herself!!!Not only is Miki an excellent tour guide, she sings and performs like a professional!

We highly recommend this lovely guide Miki and her company Miki Tours .

I was surprised by and delighted with the tour put together be the irrepressible Miki Wei. Miki proved to be highly educated and thoroughly professional, plus her English is fluent. Our first stop was Jinze water village, a peaceful town without any tourists except my wife, Wang Zhi Hui, and I. We were met there by a boat and were rowed by a jovial fellow to Miki’s riverside tea house, a short jaunt of some 20-25 minutes. There are many ancient arched bridges in Jinze, some over 700 years old, which, together with older traditional buildings and the flowing river, present a poetic scene like a Chinese ink-and-wash painting. We enjoyed watching local life along the riverside and fishermen’s boats. Miki’s tea house is a gem featuring antiques and an out-of-doors patio on the second floor. Miki’s sister, Nancy, welcomed us warmly, and then served us home-cooked chicken soup with two types of delicious dumplings. (Expats take note: Like many Westerners I am allergic to MSG, but Miki told us they never use MSG.) Nancy’s cooking was excellent; so, too, were the three types of tea she served us. After Jinze we carried on via private car to Xitang water village. It is a stunning contrast to an undeveloped water village like Jinze. Xitang is highly commercial but quite lovely when lit with red lanterns at night. Miki guided us through alleys and byways off the beaten path, as well as on the narrow, major brick roads. We spent hours wandering around as Miki’s cheerful voice gave us a complete history or introduced us to her friends and favorite venues. (Expats take note: No nasty bullhorns on any of Miki’s tours.) We saw that Xitang has something for everyone. There are bars, bistros, and eateries of all types; there are booming discos and small, quiet coffee shops where acoustic music is played. There is shopping for every purpose and taste from elegant clothing to local specialties to tourists’ trinkets. Yet I wish there were a pub where I could find a Guinness or a Bass. As an expat in China for many years, I have done many local tours. This was the best by far; I doubt any local tourism agency could top it. Many thanks to Miki and her team for a memorable experience. I recommend Miki Wei and her company, Miki Tours, in the highest terms, without condition or qualification. Ned Boudreau

Our day with Zoe of Miki Tours was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip. We were on a cruise and took many of the ship sponsored tours in various places throughout Japan and China. Every tour from the cruise ship was average at best. Friends we met on the cruise had previously booked the Xitang Water Village Sunset Tour, and asked us to join them. We were thrilled to try something more exciting than the mediocre excursions was were experiencing. Lucky for us, Miki Tours was able to accommodate the group of four to a group of six. We were picked up at the cruise port at the exact time that was scheduled. From that moment until we returned in the evening, everything was dealt with in a professional manner. Our guide, Zoe, was the added bonus because she provided us with a wealth of information about local culture, customs and history. Our first stop was the Jinze Watertown, rarely visited by tourists. We were treated with a gondola ride and authentic lunch cooked by Miki's sister in a home in the town. The day continued to surprise and delight us with a stop to pick strawberries from a local farmer and finally Xitang Watertown in the evening. We give Miki Tours an A+ from start to finish. If you want to try something out of the ordinary, go on this tour!

This is absolutely the best tour we have ever been on and we recommend it completely. Miki Tours is a 5* winner on Trip Advisor. Arranging the tour by Whatsapp and email made it easy to coordinate with Miki and we arranged for a private Shipside pickup/dropoff instead of needing to tak a taxi to the hotel. Our guide, Zoe, was delightful, knowledge and charming. Our first stop was a beautiful water village outside of Shanghai. Not only was it very picturesque with lovely glimps of rural life in China, the biggest and best surprise came at the end of our gondola ride. We visited a beautifully furnished traditional house where we were served a fabuous meal by Miki's sister. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The was the first of several delightful adventures on this tour. I won't spoil the surprises by telling any more. I hope you enjoy this tour as much as we did.
