Loved this city which was part of our Wendy Wu "Wonders of China " tour (September 2023). We flew from Beijing not knowing the treasures that lay ahead of us over the next two days. Our intrepid "family" of travellers was led by Addison, our wonderful national tour guide & native of Xian. On the first day of arrival, we visited the Muslim Quarters with its many stalls selling snacks & trinkets. The highlight of the day was the Tang Dynasty dancing show & the sampling of the traditional Shui Jiao dumplings. We met the cast afterwards in the foyer for a photoshoot. The following day we viewed the enigmatic ranks of the 7,000 soldiers, horses & chariots unearthed in three 'pits' towards the end of the last century. The Terracotta Warriors were built in life-sized form by thousands of workers & designed by Emperor Qin Shi Hyang to defend himself in the afterlife. The archaeological digs are still active & far from complete. Only one figure ( the kneeling archer) was unearthed in complete form. All the others were in small pieces & it was a mammoth task to recreate them all for display! We were the first group after Covid 19 to visit China 🇨🇳 & to celebrate this fact Wendy Wu arranged for us to dress in National costumes for a video that took place on the Xian ancient city walls dating back to the Ming Dynasty in the 14th Century . A wonderful time was had by all. Later that day, we had a tour of the city by night where the ancient Bell Tower & City Walls were emblazoned with dramatic lighting. I could have stayed longer in beautiful Xian & Addison made our visit a sheer delight with his energy & depth of knowledge. Addison is a marvellous ambassador for his town, his country & the Wendy Wu company that he so proudly represents.

I recently completed a China tour with Wendy Wu tours that included a trip to Xian. We caught a flight from Beijing and upon arrival visited the ancient walls followed by a traditional dumpling dinner. After dinner we were treated to a performance based on the history of the area and a night tour of the city. Finally after an action packed day we made it to our hotel where the room was opulent to say the least, a full size bathtub and comfortable bed made for a relaxing night stay. The next morning we headed to see some terracotta warriors being made and then off to see the real thing. I was rather emotional upon visiting the excavation site as it was a major tick off my bucket list. After lunch at the museum we caught the bullet train to Chengdu. My only regret on this tour of Xian is that it wasn’t longer, I feel this area has a lot more to offer that I would like to explore. Our amazing national tour guide Britney was a wealth of knowledge on the history of what is her home Provence. Britney is by far the best tour guide I have ever had and she made our trip interesting, fun and safe. I would highly recommend any of the Wendy Wu tours if this trip is the standard.

George was our tour guided for our amazing 25 day Grand Tour of China stattin on 18 October 2019. He was exceptionally well organised and the whole trip ran very smoothly. His knowledge of China is excellentt and the local guides he engaged for our tour were excellent. George acted very quickly when one of our group became ill and arranged for transfer and admission to hispital. George went abova and betond what we expeced of a tour guide, and stayed with our tour member and ensured he received expert medical attention. George also ensured that our great local guide in Shanghai stayed with the group and she went above and beyond what we expected of a local guide. The whole tour was amazing, we were very lucky to have had such a friendly group on our tour. We thoroughly recommend Wendy Wu Tours and believe we have made a lifelong friend of George. Our guide Penny, who accompanied us across China on our Wendy Wu ‘Wonders of China ‘ tour was fantastic. Very organised, helpful and informative. She gave us many insights into the culture of China and always made it obvious she enjoyed her job and being with us. A great sense of humour. Penny improved our trip by making adjustments to the tour as we went along that really worked when local conditions changed. She constantly checked and planned ahead. On the final day of our trip she gave each of us a very thoughtful traditional gift. Penny works very hard to make sure everyone has a great time.

Xian City with trip to Terracotta Army museum and City wall, highlights included visit to ceramics and lacquer factory. Chengdu City with visits to Panda sanctuary's Hebe was our great National escort who attended to all of the group needs inc accommodation coordination and she gave us so much of China's history. She was a wonderful guide and escort. Big thanks to Echo, Wendy and Penny who were great local guides for our tour group. These 4 women were all very helpful and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay. All guides spoke good English and they had great knowledge of the culture and attractions where we visited. The shows we went to at night were so entertaining. Our meals were excellent. Delicious local dishes with plenty of variety. Our bus drivers were professional and friendly Hotels were excellent. This was a short but action packed tour. It was perfectly suited to my tastes and the busy days I really enjoyed. Thank you again to Hebe and to Wendy Wu Tours

Visited Xian as part of the Wendy Wu Enchanting China Tour, the visit to the terracotta warriors was amazing and a highlight of the trip. There was a reasonable amount of time available to see each section of the Terracotta warrior complex. Our national guide Gary was also our local guide in Xian and his passion for his hometown and its many attractions was infectious with Xian becoming our favourite city of the whole trip. Gary was totally committed to ensuring our group had the very best experience possible. Throughout the trip his depth of knowledge, humour, enthusiasm and ability to deal with any request or challenge that arose ensured our journey through China was an experience of a lifetime.

My friend and I were met in Shanghai by "Addison" to begin our Wendy Wu tour. We travelled by plane to Xian. This is Addison's city and he was most informative and enthusiastic about Xian. We stayed there two days and saw and enjoyed quite a bit before leaving to travel to Beijing. There we also had another guide "Andy' who also knew his city. We had three very full days of sightseeing, shows and restaurants. I think we could not have had better guides as nothing was too much trouble and they were wonderful people. Wendy Wu is the way to go, we had no waiting in line anywhere....

One of the highlights of the tour. We had a comfortable amount of time to view all the various areas. Truly amazing. On an even bigger and more impressive scale than imagined. Fascinated to see how the warriors were made. Also good humour in various chances to have your photo taken as if a warrior! Wonderful shops for high quality souvenirs with very little pressure and super service. The Terracotta Warrior areas themselves were incredible. They do not disappoint. The scale is huge and one had an emotional as well as an intellectual response. Very good exhibition and displays. Jaw stopping and fascinating in that the areas of restoration are all on display. However be prepared for five or six deep around the railings. and having to fight and push for a place at the front. The separate building with the chariots etc was almost unbearable in that huge numbers were crammed into a small space and one couldn't get near the exhibits....again, H & S an issue. Think they should instigate controlling the numbers in in batches as can happen at other exhibitions. It was a very hot day and be prepared to have to walk from the main entrance to the warriors along a long, polished road...you need a hat and sunglasses although trees on either side! There is also a golf buggy type vehicle that can take you for travel to....but I don't think for return!! We found cool places to sit exterior at this time of year and had an adequate, although not exciting lunch on site apart from watching our noodles being created from scratch. All not to be missed. It will never be forgotten. Amanda our tour guide was calm, patient, good humoured, incredibly knowledgable and able to deal with any changes or demands made on her for this and every other part of our tour.

We joined this tour immediately after completing a Wendy Wu "Discover Japan" tour and this was just a part of our "China Experience Private Tour" which commenced in Shanghai for three nights, then Xian two nights and finished in Beijing three nights. Internal flights were a breeze thanks to our local guides assistance at the airports. All of the attractions visited on the tour were excellent and our local guides Dawn,Lee and Kevin all had a good knowledge of the history of the places visited. They were quick to point out potential safety issues such as trip hazards and their English was good. These tours were our first with Wendy Wu and we can only say that they were very well organised.

What can I say... best tour ever. Issac was very knowledgeable and answered every question about the area and its history. Issac spoke English perfectly and it was so easy to communicate. The driver was very safe and was always close by to pick us up. The warriors factory first was perfect because you could understand the complexity in making the incredible statues. The shopping there was fun and informative the factory let you look around and were not too pushy. The warriors pit was so impressive. Issac took us the the best places to get a photo. Issac knew the short cuts and how to see the best items. Everything was well explained It was well worth coming to Xi’an to see the site. Lunch was beyond expectations. The experience with the greeting and pretending to be the Emperor was fun. But the food was excellent. The traditional meal was local and was filling. The art museum was interesting. The layout and guide explains the history and progression of Chinese art over the different dynasties. The Xi’an city wall tour was amazing. The history was well explained by Issac once again. The view from the wall was cool. Overall this tour was the beat ever. Highly recommend and make sure you ask for Issac.

This was just part of a fantastically organised tour taking in Shanghai, the Three Gorges, Chengdu pandas, Xian and Beijing and the Great Wall. Everything was faultlessly organised. Brilliant main tour guide Alex for whom nothing was too much trouble, day or night. Backed up by local guides wherever we went but Alex was the linchpin that held us all together. Diverse group of 8 Brits and 21 Australians and we all got on fantastically well. China was a surprise. Much more developed than I anticipated. Too many highlights to list everything but the pandas and the Great Wall were the standouts. Fully catered for 13 days. Breakfast lunch and dinner tailored to western tastes and it was sufficiently authentically Chinese to be different and delicious. We did everything together as a group and I hope that any other travellers will be as lucky with their parties. You do need to be reasonably fit as it is pretty much full on every day. Don't hesitate just go and, if you are lucky, you will get Alex to guide you round. You will not regret it.

Michelle, our National Guide, was also our Local Guide in Xian and she was brilliant! She was able to tell us lots of really interesting facts and figures and really made the whole tour of China exceptional. The whole tour was really great and certainly lived up to all of our hopes, we must admit we were a little worried about going to China and what we might encounter BUT the Wendy Wu tour surpassed all of our expectations, and we would not hesitate to go back to China if the opportunity presented itself and hopefully we would get to go with Michelle again.

What an amazing place to visit. We were taken there by our National Guide Jay and a local guide. Jay who works for Wendy Wu Tours was a wonderful guide and we can't thank him enough for making it one of the best Tours we have ever been on. He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and with a great sense of humour. The Terracotta Warriors, museum visit and miniature Warrior-making were one of the many fantastic sites on our tour. Everything ran like clockwork and we would recommend Wendy Wu Tours without hesitation for the wonderful experience of China. Howard & Pat Jones

We had the most wonderful tour of China, with 3 nights in Beijing, 2 Nights in Xian and 1 night in Shanghai. The itinerary was set by Wendy Wu Tours for the most important features of each city, and our guide was Helen Liao for the whole trip. A very good combination, as a good itinerary is no good without a good tour guide. Helen was very knowledgeable in all things Chinese , and made us feel at home with a very informative commentary and add hock jokes throughout the trip. The coaches were very comfortable and air conditioned for maximum ease while travelling. The coach drivers and other supporting staff were very helpful to Wendy to make her job easier. What did we see: Great Wall of China, where I could not resist to climb the maximum distance along the wall possible; The Jade Museum, with some master pieces of work of Art; Tiananmen Square, the size of which is mind boggling ; the Forbidden City , a UNESCO world heritage site, the Temple of Heaven, Terracotta Warriors, Xian Art Ceramics and Lacquer Exhibition Center and Ancient City Walls . We (Helen Liao's Group) were very lucky to witness the 15 years of Wendu WU Celebrations at the Ancient City Walls. The show was breathtaking, and we did not need to go to the movies , as the performing stars (Chinese Actors and Actresses) were right in front of us in person. It was a great show and we will not forget it Did not meet Wendy Wu in person, though she may have been very busy with other guests. FANTASTIC 5* SHOW. The Hotel accommodation was excellent in all the three cities, making our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Again I would say the Hotels were definitely 5*s. The food for the group was excellent, except for us vegetarians, the choice was rather limited. But Helen went to great extents to ensure we did not go hungry. All our transfers were handled with great Expertise by Helen , and we are very thankful for that. Would we go again with Wendu WU Tours; DEFINITELY YES Yours Sincerely, Mr Dalpat Lad & Mrs Jaymati Lad
