Totally recomended tour in Xi'an! My guide, Michael, was superb! Nice guy, friendly, easy talk, very good English, and great guide. He continuously shared interesting facts about every place we visit, as well as suggestions of other things to do to make my stay in Xi'an more enjoyable. Food was also great, and Michael recommended some very traditional Xi'an dishes which were very tasty. Michael even dropped me off in a very nice area that evening as per my request, after we finished the tour, and gave me some tips about things to do, which ended up being one of the best moments I had in the city. 100% recommended!

My day tour of Xi’an was pleasant thanks to my guide, Michael. It was holiday but we had an early start to the day which was helpful in beating the crowd. I loved everything Xi’an and got to see the major landmarks (Terracotta Army, city wall and Muslim quarter) and tried very delicious food all in a day’s work. As a history buff, seeing the Terracotta Army was a dream come true for me. Michael was Passionate, Personal, Present and well Prepared! He was thoughtful of my needs as a solo traveller (taking pictures, going to restroom etc.). He impressed me with his knowledge about the overall historical development of Xi’an - from ancient to modern city. We booked 5 days with Lily and cannot praise them enough. From Beijing to Xi’an to Chengdu, Vivian, Cathy and Cheryl were amazing! Knowledgeable, willing to accommodate our specific requests and each found us great local places to eat. Having drivers who can meet you and help you negotiate getting in and out of train stations and airports made all the difference.

Michael was a knowledgeable and very friendly tour guide. A superb morning at terracotta museum followed by a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and an afternoon spent exploring the wall. I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough. Also a big shout out to the driver Mr Jie.

We had an amazing customized tour, our guide Jackie was very great. We were picked up at train station and he took us to halal restaurant for breakfast, the food was very delicious. Then we went to City wall of Xian, Big wild goose pagoda, muslim quarter to prayer there and had lunch, then continued the tour to The Terracota Warriors. Jackie had great knowledge about the history of the places we visited and abaout Xian city, he was very fun, kind and informative. He took us to local restaurant for dinner and helped us when check in at the airport at night. My father and my children really like him. I would highly recommend this tour to my friends and families. I would like to contact this tour again when I visit China on next trip. Thank you Jackie & Lily for wonderful trip.

We had such a wonderful time in Xi'an!!! We arrived on Wednesday and Lily set up a driver to pick us up from the train station in a spacious, air-conditioned minivan. Our driver was there waiting for us and took us straight to the car with no issues at all. The following day, Michael and the same driver picked us up from our hotel (Gran Melia - fabulous hotel in such a great, new part of town!) and they were early, which is always a plus. They drove us to the Terracota Army where we spent a couple hours in the morning. Michael was great with our family (3 kids ages 6, 9 and 11) and had a good idea of how much info to give the kids and how long to stay at each spot. He kept us moving along and everyone had a great time! After that, we went for a bike ride along the ancient city walls - - one of the best parts of our trip!!!! Michael arranged the bikes and helmets for us (don't know how we could've done it without him!) and he outfitted us with 1 tandem bike and 3 single bikes. We spent 2 hours riding and stopping for pictures and some cold drinks. It was WONDERFUL and we got lucky with a cooler day. Michael and our driver were waiting for us by the bike office so as soon as we were done, they got us right back into the air-conditioned van. Then we were driven to the Muslim Quarters which we all enjoyed SO MUCH! What a sight to see and lots of smells and tastes to experience. He was so patient with us as we searched for food our children would eat - hahah! We had a really nice time checking out that area and Michael was wonderful helping us get around, being our personal photographer :) and helping translate when our kids had questions or we stopped into the shops. It was really a terrific experience and one of our favorite days of the trip! Many thanks to Lily for arranging a wonderful day for us!!!

We were picked up on the dot by Michael, who got us out to the Terracotta Warriors before the BIG crowds hit (and they were already swelling when we arrived). Mr Jia, the driver, drove like a gent, nothing like cowboy taxi rides I’ve had when O/S. Michael really knows everything you need: immensely detailed knowledge of Chinese history, of the stories and culture around the first emperor and the warriors. He was bright and cheery, calm and knowledgeable. He was really clever how he moved us around the exhibition, finding quiet spots to prep us for the next sections, knowing where best to stop and show us details we would absolutely have missed by ourselves. He loves the subject and really unpacks the details - especially where the individual warriors and the stunning bronze chariot/emperor’s carriage are displayed. After the warriors, he guided us away from the vast exit crowds and off to a great nearby restaurant (avoiding the on-site fast food). We gorged on delicious local noodle specialties and salads. We visited the Eastern Gate & walls. Alas it was way too hot to ride along the walls, but that would have been brilliant. Recommended if you get the chance! Nevertheless Michael gave us the context of the walls in Xi’an’s ancient and modern history, of the bell and drum towers. We wrapped up with a walk through the Muslim quarter. We were so stuffed from lunch that we didn’t want to eat anything, so Michael adapted the tour to take us through back streets and to a market that happened to be on our day. That was fascinating, getting a view of Xi’an street life. It also meant we felt confident to return to the Muslim quarter that night for dinner and to enjoy the promenading crowds. I was thrilled with this tour. It was worth every cent. Michael is a great guide and I really recommend him if you want a great tour.

We had a fantastic tour throughout Xi’An, and our brilliant guide was Michael. We were picked up at 8 at our hotel to get a bit of a head start on the crowds getting to the Terracotta Warriors. We were driven there, and then shown around all the open pits, with Michael giving us a history of the emperor and his family as we were walking. The terracotta warriors were incredible, so detailed and lifelike. We were then driven to a nearby restaurant with the most amazing long noodles! Everything was so delicious. We forgot to pay for lunch though which was a bit embarrassing but Michael was really helpful and organised a way for the money to get back to the restaurant. We were driven back into the city and visited the city wall. We were given a bit of a history lesson and told about the developments throughout the dynasties. It was a bit warm to go bike riding so we went for a stroll instead. Then, we went to the nearby Muslim quarter and explored a street market, before having a look around the street food. It was really incredible. Finally dropped back at the hotel for a rest. Really wonderful day, and we got to see so much of Xi’An!

Lily is an amazing host, welcoming, friendly and very easy going. It was a special day learning about the Terracota history, discovering farmers cave house, enjoying delicious spinach noodles and visiting the emperor tombs. I felt special in this private tour, pampered and learned a lot about Xi’an and China. I strongly recommend Lily.

The Xi'an Classic Day Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to China. Michael was a wonderful guide with excellent English and so friendly. Our driver was great too! Michael helped us order the best meal of our trip at a local restaurant. Without his informative guidance at the Terracotta Warriors we would have not known about the finer details of the warriors' history. We learnt so much from Michael and will never forget his kindness. We felt safe in his capable hands. We cannot recommend this tour to highly.

My experience with Tour Operator was really good. Very prompt and clear emails response from my first request. The tour itself was made with Cathy and she was good and open guide. She was also flexible as we add some more unplanned site as there was spare time until our train time. Overall I recommend this tour operator

This is a great tour for first timers to China or Xi'an. It is a private tour - driver, guide plus the two of us. The booking process is easy and Lily was communicative about the details well in advance. There was some issue locating us at our hotel and she was persistent in calling us to make sure that we had reached and were ready to go the next morning. We exchanged a couple of texts with our guide Cathy and she recommended an early start (8 AM) to get places before traffic nightmares and crowds! Our guide turned out to be Jackie (as Cathy was out with a cold) and he turned out to be a fun, informative and excellent guide. He had local knowledge but also supplemented information that would be more interesting to American tourists. We started at the Terracotta warriors site/museum and hands down this is a place you need to go BUT you will benefit from a small group and a knowledgeable guide like Jackie. So much history and information but he managed to keep it both interesting and easy to absorb :) Lunch was biang biang noodles - highlight of the day (we cover lunch). We went off to see the city wall followed by a guided walk through the Muslim Quarter and a calligraphy market ending at the Beilin Museum. With Jackie helping us out, we got to know rates for places to come later on our own, other attractions and timings, where/how to get discounts and even hand drawn maps with metro stations to guide us on other days!! He even wrote us instructions in Mandarin to show to people to process our requests! Best part - he followed up via email on the remaining two days to make sure we were ok and also to check on what we saw. Amazing experience and we would say that if possible request Jackie when you book this tour - he is worth it!!

We are a family of 5 from US and booked this tour way in advance with Lily Tours. Lily was great to work with while booking and was able to answer all our questions and accommodated additional requests for the tour. Michael Chang was our guide on this tour. Michael was very knowledgeable about Xi'an and the tour itself. He is SUPER nice and a very professional guide. He was very good in camera too which was very important for us. The lunch he brought us too in the Terracotta area was excellent! The Biang-biang noodles of Xi'an was the highlight:) Michael waited patiently for us as we took our time biking all of the 14 kms of the City Wall. We so enjoyed our time on Xi’an made even more special by Lily. This tour goes without saying how good it was. Lily arranged our train station transfers and additional tour to Grottoes in Luoyang. She works very hard to ensure anywhere you go in China you’ll be happy. Highly recommend.

We visited Xian and on the tour saw the Terracotta warriors and the city wall. Our guide was Jackie. He was great helped us see everything and explained everything in great detail. Would highly recommend him for tours in this area. He was also flexible in that the hotel we originally booked we found out didn't exist (thanks hotels.com). But we booked one on the fly when we got there, and he was accommodating of the last minute changes to the pickup location.

I greatly enjoyed this tour. My guide, Cathy, was friendly and knowledgable. Lily was accessible and answered all of my questions before and after the tour. While I went primarily to see the Terracotta Warriors, I was very impressed by the other parts of Xian that we visited. I wish I had stayed in Xian longer. We booked a last minute tour to see the terracotta warriors with Lily’s tours and that was just the best decision we did! We were met by our guide Jackie at 9am sharp in the hotel lobby, and we were off on our Xi’an adventure. Jackie is very friendly, and very knowledgeable about the history of ancient China. Fluent in English, he explained to us the various excavation sites, and pointed out the finer points. We went to a local noodle restaurant; the black pepper beef and the “3 in 1” noodles were simply delicious! The Han Yan Ling mausoleum was also very interesting, made all the more by Jackie. Thanks so much to Jackie and Lily’s tours for making our day simply perfect!

We would highly recommend Cathy and Lily's tours to our friends and others. I found this tour on TripAdvisor and the price was reasonable compared to other tours. Cathy, our sweet and knowledgeable tour guide, sent me a text to say when she'd pick us up at the hotel. I was taking my college age daughter and friend to see the Terracotta Warriors. We began our drive to the Terracotta Warriors around 9:30 am. We rode in a comfortable mini van that had water and snacks for us. Cathy shared information about the warriors and the history of the Dynasty's. When we arrived Cathy bought our tickets and walked us to the exhibit. Amazing to see and Cathy shared all kinds of interesting facts about the warriors. She was also helpful with taking our group pictures and took great pictures with our cameras. Cathy gave us plenty of time to wander around and explore exhibits. After we were done we stopped at the markets outside the museum and she had us try the local persimmon fruit...so sweet and delicious! Next we went to a local and best noodle restaurant in the area. Cathy ordered for us and we had noodles, chicken, and veggies...really good food. Our next stop was the Xi'an City Wall. We wandered around and had fun. Cathy, once again, shared great information about the Wall and we moved onto the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. We wrapped up the tour walking through the Muslim market and tried a sweet dessert that Cathy bought for us to try. Cathy has great command of the English language and was so kind. When I bring my husband and son I will definitely book with Lily's Private Tour!

We were picked up promptly at our hotel by our guide Cathy and Mr. Fung, the driver in a comfortable van which was stocked with water. Our first stop was the Terracotta Warriors site. Cathy was very knowledgeable about the history and the ongoing excavation. We never felt hurried and were able to enjoy all aspects of the site. We then went to the Han Yang Ling Mausoleum and also to see a typical farmer's home. Cathy was great- friendly and very excited to share her knowledge of what we were seeing. We stopped at a great local restaurant for lunch. We never felt like we were being pressured to shop and buy something as some tours are said to do. We would not have learned half as much as we did if we had tried to do it on our own or with a large group. We would highly recommend Cathy and Lily's tours!
