Learned so much about the island. Running of the cows was an added bonus. LOL! Great tour and amazing host!

We had the best guide and we thoroughly enjoyed his tour. He took us places with his jeep that cars wouldn’t be able to go. He was fun and very friendly.

My husband and I booked this excursion in September 2023. From start to finish it was a blast. Pickup was easy, our guide Carolina was very knowledgeable and friendly, and this was an efficient way to do a full trip around the island. Travelling in a 4x4 Jeep the entire time, this trip includes a stop at Mount Brazil, next to an active military base in a historic site, overlooking the city of Angra do Heroismo. We drove in the countryside to various viewpoints, through the old American Air Force Base, and through a nature preserve that features solely species endemic to the Azores. We stopped for lunch to enjoy some local wine, a homemade traditional stew with a variety of breads and cheeses, and some moonshine at the end. Lastly, we stopped at the Materramenta winery for a tour and tasting experience. This tour was an amazing experience and we recommend it to anyone who wants to get an overview of all of Terceira. Note that we did find the title slightly misleading, as it gives off a “booze cruise” kind of vibe, but it is a small group tour touching on many different aspects of life on Terceira.

You've already seen numerous pictures of beautiful Terciera. This trip is a great way to experience the real thing. So here's a picture of a "Terceira Traffic Jam". :) Carolina was a wonder guide. Riding with her felt like a friend showing us her wonderful island and culture (and the food and drinks were good too).

We cannot say enough good things about this tour and Pro Island Tours! Antonio was an amazing guide who took us places we never would have seen on other tours. We saw breathtaking views, natural pools, beautiful sea views, historical buildings, and had a fantastic lunch! Antonio made us feel right at home and we loved the tour so much we took a second tour with him the next day. We also attend a running of the bulls in his village. We will be back!

We have been to the island many times but young Antonio shared some unknown deep wood locations. The whole team was very professional and served us a great lunch with caramel Anish made by Antonio Sr. Highly recommend!!!!

This was a stunning trip. We had reviewed previous comments but in reality this surpassed all expectations. Antonio took such care of us. He's extremely knowledgeable, funny and adores his beautiful surroundings. The pride he has in Terceira is evident during every second of this tour. It was such a memorable experience for us and we'll be recommending this to anyone who is lucky enough to visit Terceira.

I don’t even know where to begin, other than to say this was one of the best, most memorable experiences I’ve ever had ANYWHERE. Our guide was extraordinary, so knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. I can’t think of a better way to get oriented to the island and see all of the amazing places you can visit. The food was incredible, the wine was incredible, and I am 1000% doing this again when I come back (and I am coming back!). Can’t thank you enough for a great memory for me and my mom.

All I can I can say is Wow! What an incredible day we had! If you only could do one tour while in Terceira, THIS IS IT. We saw this island through a local’s eye and were able to experience the beauty of Terceira. Antonio was accommodating and made us feel like family. The food and drinks spectacular and the salad dressing prepared by Antonio, game changing! Thank you for an incredible day!

What a great tour! Antonio was fun, informative and very patient with a group of older women. He personally prepared lunch for us and it was exceptional. He even provided honey from his hives and homemade moonshine… after all-We are from Tennessee. The tour was great and I would highly recommend it.

This is an amazing tour to take! It takes you to many of the highlights of the island in a 4 wheel drive Defender! Fun!! You’ll take roads that cars and buses will not. The lunch is homemade and incredibly delicious! Our guides , Rui and Antonio were so knowledgeable and personable. We’d do it all over again!!! Book tours with Pro Island tours ! You won’t regret it

Rui was a great guide- very knowledgeable about the island. The lunch was amazing and very traditional. Very cool spot. The moonshine was awesome. The only downside was my bf had to sit in the way back alone because I’d get carsick being back there.

We had a lovely day with Rui, (Roy). He picked us up at our hotel promptly. It was immediately easy to chat with this knowledgeable guide. He asked us what we wanted to see. Since we were near the end of our Terceira trip, we asked him to take us to more remote places. He did not let us down! He drove us to off-road locations no rental Corso could ever climb. From peeks to forests - Ocean to pastures, we covered it all. We asked countless questions to which he provided informative answers. And, the food… oh my. It was the BEST meal we had on the island. The Pro island group thought of everything. A beautiful table, a wood fire oven, a gorgeous view and good conversation were the perfect pieces to this scenic puzzle. Book it and be happy!

We had a wonderful full day exploring the island with Rui (Roy) from Antonio’s group. He was informed about history, culture, geology, environmental science and politics. He tolerated endless questions and topic shifts. He was a perfect ambassador for the island and the people of Terceira, with such evident pride for his home. And the sampling of local food and spirits was a plus!

You must book these amazing tours with Antonio and his amazing staff. We also did several other of his tours and plan to go back. Professional, fun and creative for sure !!! I would give 10 stars!!!!!

We had a great day tour and wonderful lunch. Antonio was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. Interesting conversations as well about life in Terceira. The lunch was incredible and a lot of fun to talk with the tour guides. Would certainly recommend to any travelers to Terceira.

The island of Terceira is beautiful! The tour was an all day excursion to see all of the main attractions on the island. Because of covid we didn’t get a winery tour but we did sample some wine and moonshine at the tour operators’ (Antonio) home. He really knows the island and showed us a few places off the beaten track.

Our guide Antonio tailor made our experience since we had participated in two tour already, one of which was with him. We saw the sulfur fields, the oldest church, the ruts in the lava road that are centuries old. His meal and moonshine tastings were so much fun, and our visit to Adelaide Simas for more wine and moonshine plus tasty jams was perfect. He’s a great host for people visiting the island, so personable and fun. He’s the best!
