Yes, there is a winery in Costa Rica and we thoroghly enjoyed our expereince there. The tour was very informative as to how they are raising grapes in Costa Rica and also utilizing the Golden Berry (Uchuva) to make liqour & other items such as dried Uchuva and jams. The wine tasting was great and included wines from vineyards in California and Israel that are also owned by the same individual! HIghly recommend this tour and tasting!

This wine tour and tasting exceeded expectations. The story of how the vineyard came to be is amazing. The tour gives in depth explanations of the process getting from plant to wine culminating with the tastings and pairings. Plus, the area is breath taking and the tasting room gorgeous.

I had no idea that there was a winery in Costa Rica. I had no idea that anyone had made a liqueur from golden berries. The Copey Estate Winery educated me on both counts in a glorious way. The tour of the facilities and the vineyards is highly educational for many reasons. The most obvious one was a demonstration of how one can grow wine grapes in such an unusual environment, especially when the seasons are not as well-defined as other more typical wine-growing regions. How they are able to not only grow but harvest grapes year-round is a stroke of genius. All that on top of the uchuva liqueur that they produce and I was sold. The tasting itself covers the full estate, including the liqueur both at room temperature and chilled, but especially wines from Copey and the other estate locations in California and Israel. All of the wines and spirits are notably excellent, but the best of the lot was the Syrah from the Copey vineyards themselves. The food pairings are inspired choices, both pairing well with the drinks and reflecting local heritage. If you are anywhere near the San Jose area in Costa Rica, this trip is easily worth your time and effort.

This is an amazing tour! Love all the little surprises and the knowledge behind it! You would never expect to taste such a high quality from a small country which is not known because of its wine. Golden rush is a must

This is an AMAZING place to visit, it's the first and only place in Costa Rica that makes wine and liquor from Golden Berry. The staff is amazing and the final wine tasting is the best! 100% recommended. You do need good sneakers and be prepared for any kind of weather.

Absolutely the most incredible experience. The winery is in a very rural are up on the mountains. If renting a car, get a pickup truck…. But gorgeous views. The story of perseverance is wonderful and Nela was a great tour guide. The Costa Rican Syrah is incredible. I’ve never had CR wine but I’m sold! The 9am tour is perfect around this time of year since there’s afternoon rains in September. This tour is a must MUST do if you find the time in Costa Rica.

Living in Costa RIca for several years and happening to find this "American, Napa Valley experience" in the ONLY Central American Winery was like a child receiving all they ask for on their Christmas list! WOW!! This experience delivered everything and MORE! For anyone who has an interest in wines, I recommend taking the effort to visit Copey Estate Winery. You will definitely will find the experience to be rewarding! The history, tour and tastings give you an understanding to the very complex and struggles that growing grapes to produce quality wines that face Copey Estate Winery. They have done nothing short of a miracle in their efforts and the reward is about to provide them a reward. They are relatively young in production but offer some wines that are truly wonderful. This is an experience that we will enjoy over and over again! BRAVO!!
