A great ethical rescue center. The animals are treated well and you get to go inside some of the enclosures. Great info about each animal. Kind and caring staff. We even got close to meerkats! It's not a large place, but it's so worth a visit. One hour walk was plenty of time.

The tour with Mzimi was amazing. His warmth and love for the animals is heartwarming. And he is a great teller, love to hear his stories and care for the animals.

One of the highlights of our visit to S Africa. Our guide Boniwe was so informative and passionate about the education of people towards the preservation of the wild animals and the rehabilitation of those injured and brought to the sanctuary. I have learned so much about the animals and to be so close up to the lions in particular was incredible. Please visit and support this non profit organisation, you won’t regret it.

If you are interested in conservation of these beautiful animal then this one hour walking tour is definitely the thing for you. It’s not a zoo and these are rescued beautiful cats. You even get to walk around with the Corvallis but no touching. This Cats have come from zoos. Private homes etc and the lions rescued from a trophy hunting farm. Well worth the visit and support the cause also.

This was absolutely incredible. The team are so passionate and enthusiastic about rehabilitating and protecting the animals. They are so knowledgeable and it was incredibly heart warming and interesting. You get to go into some of the enclosures to look at the animals in their natural habitats. It was so worth the trip, I would recommend it to anyone. Your visit helps fund such a worthy cause.

Tenikwa is an incredible experience. It is magical to be so close to the rehabilitated and happy cats. We are so glad that we had the opportunity to visit this amazing center and we are in awe of the wonderful work that is being done here. Our guide Boniwa was wonderful and made our experience both informative and meaningful. She interwove her knowledge of the cats and wildlife with snippets of cultural wisdom that we really enjoyed. We had the best day ever!

We stayed overnight here in the Lion Lodge and had a date night meal. First and foremost this particular part of our experience was brilliant. Staying so close to the lions you can feel the reverberations when they start roaring at 0400. Not for the faint of heart! The cabin was rustic comfort with all that we needed for our stay! Hot shower and comfortable bed. Beautiful petals on the bed! Our extremely attentive staff were Davidson and his lovely wife who cooked and served our dinner and breakfast. These two are golden! They really looked after us and made our whole stay! Thankyou so much. We then booked a wild cat experience that was with Boniwa that exceeded our expectations- getting so close to the cheetahs and her knowing where to find the leopard in the morning heat. The tour was so informative and whilst it’s always sad to see wild animals captive you understood why they were there and the efforts the park go to ensuring where possible that those animals that can be are rehabilitated and returned to the wild. Loved e dry minute and the entire team there are so helpful and knowledgeable! Even had to get a jump start when our battery went flat from the wonderful maintenance team! Thanks guys! Must visit!

This would have been enjoyable except the 2 of us were put with a big group of noisy people who laughed and talked loudly all the way round. The guide should have asked them for quiet and respect for the animals. Ruined for us.

We spent one night here and would happily have stayed for more. Tenikwa has a special feel to it and we loved our time there. The staff were warm and welcoming and very accommodating and helpful. In particular the manager, Keri, made the experience unforgettable. Spending time with the cats in their own environment with someone who is so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and the ethos of the sanctuary was very memorable. Thank you to all. We will be back

We came just in time for a guided tour so make sure you plan your arrival to that. You can’t walk around on your own. Our guide was amazing. She knew the animals very well and could answer all our questions. She had worked there for over 4 years. We met all animals and got to enter the areas for some of the cats. All in all a great experience!

We went to Birds of Eden and what a lovely experience. Thete is a winding wooden walkway with railings to make it easy to walk the 2.5km to the end. Plan to walk slow to see all the birds. We went late afternoon with feeding time and saw a lot of birds. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Midway is also a cafe for a quick drink or snack but plan to be early as they close at 16h00.

Absolutely loved my time at Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre! Our guide, Boniwe, is a total star – super knowledgeable and has such a genuine bond with the animals. These creatures are as well-kept and as healthy as they can possibly be. Plus, the centre is doing its thing as a non-profit, focused on rescuing animals. Both the animal spaces and our areas are so clean and inviting. When you take a tour here, you're backing their awesome rescue mission. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area. It's all about good vibes and supporting a fab cause!

So many of these "sanctuary's" exist in South Africa and are a glorified zoo with miserable uncared for animals. This is not. The work Tenikwa does in rehabilitation and education & awareness in conservation of wild animals is incredible and like nothing I've witnessed before. These animals are loved and cared for by the locals. They have been saved and their lives turned around. Please visit and support when next in the area. My kids and I loved it and learnt so much. Such an incredible experience

I applaud Tenikwa for caring for, and where possible releasing injured animals. Boniwe was an excellent guide- very warm and friendly. Would have been nice to see examples of the enrichment program to see how the cats are still able to be active.

Keen to have an experience of wildlife and help support a wildlife welfare project, we visited this place off the beaten track. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our guide on the tour knowledgeable and personable. His connection with the leopard, servals, wild cat and lions was particularly strong and they clearly responded well to him. The animals are in beautiful condition and very content. A very worthwhile experience in support of an excellent project.

The rescue part was great, a bit disappointing that that part was only for local animals and the big cats were those bred in captivity and for the purpose of being in captivity, which was not clear to us from the start and some of the people on our trip were not too happy about that.

Really nice tour seeing all the rescued animals. I believe they really do good at this place so visiting is also supporting their efforts to help rescued animals. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the place and that made the tour even more interesting. There are a couple of lions, cheetahs, and other cool cats, birds and other animals. Worth a visit and value for money.

Great conservation project which allows you to see lions, cheetahs, etc up close in the company of an experienced guide.
