Saw more wildlife on this adventure than at any other time. Kevin, our guide, was wonderful and full of knowledge and fun. The fresh fruit stop was a good break. Will be back and try a different run.

Our tour guide Jairo started us off. He was very kind and offered great insights for the rides. Our raft guide Momo was also great. He was very funny and made the trip extremely fun for my family. Fresh fruit was offered as snacks and the lunch trip was also really amazing. Highly recommend as an exposition, regardless of rafting experience. The guides were great and made everyone feel completely safe, even through the most thrilling sections

I booked this for our family a d everyone was a little nervous beforehand, this was our first time rafting. Our guides picked us up from our hotel in la Fortuna and took us to the Balsa river which was about a 30-40 minute drive. Our driver Jonathan was the strong but silent type, our guide Sivianny was absolutely amazing in many respects; he was the perfect instructor, he kept us safe but was also lots of fun, plus he looked like a movie star (sat next to me at least). Half way through he expertly carved us some fresh pineapple and watermelon that we ate on the boat while moored up briefly. That moment will live in the memory for a while. We saw baby sloths, birds and cows on the way around. But the best part was the rafting which was so much fun, we would love to try again during the wet season when the waters are a bit faster. We had a cold beer when we got back to the van and then some lunch at a local restaurant which was also very nice. Overall a fantastic trip, highly recommended

The Whitewater Rafting Rio Balsa experience by Wave Expeditions was well above excellent. Our group of split into two rafts. The rapids were sufficiently challenging for our group ranging in age from 10 to 61, yet safely navigable under the skill and care of our guides, Kervin and Cris. Kervin and Cris were experienced, responsible, and provided us with the security to feel safe at all times. They also brought energy that made the rafting experience fun and thrilling. The rafting experience itself was exhilarating. The first half of the rafting experience, in particular, truly challenged our endurance, yet we felt secure at all times under Kervin's and Cris' watchful navigation through the rapids. There were opportunities to swim in the river and, as an added bonus, Kervin fabulously shared his knowledge of the trees and wildlife that we saw along the river banks. This made the entire experience both exciting and interesting. The lunch provided at the conclusion of the experience was delicious. The live demonstration of sugar cane juice extraction with audience participation following lunch was an unexpected and delightful experience. I would highly recommend this experience if you have 3 or 4 days in the Arenal region.

Our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 teenagers) visited Costa Rica over spring break in March 2024 for one full week. We began in La Fortuna and our first activity was white water rafting. By far, this activity was everyone's favorite! Totally AWESOME!! The transport was on time, safe and the helpful driver made sure we knew what was happening from start to finish. No waiting around at all so we were active the whole time. The rafting was incredible! Fun! Laughter abounded! Our guide was a young man named Mo Mo. Mo Mo, who was full of life, made our rafting trip completely memorable. Half way through the trip, we pulled over for fresh watermelon and pineapple and the timing was perfect. Book this trip. It will be your FAVORITE MEMORY.

These guys were really super from beginning to end. They picked us up in a bus and Gustavo was very informative about what we would be doing on the trip. He explained in both English and Spanish. Our rafting guide was Yudd and he was fun, fun, fun. He purposefully had us do maneuvers that would cause some us to fall out of the boat. Of course, he did it in areas that were safe. He had us high five with our paddles and shout out, "Pura Vida," each time we completed a rapid area. He had us do "the bull ride" on the front of the boat and our kids absolutely loved it. We were paddling forward(adalante) and backwards, which would rotate our raft in a cirlce. He was teaching us Spanish words all along the way. Yudd pointed out different animals and birds throughout the ride. We had watermelon and pineapple half way and beers and drinks for the kids at the end. They treated us to a delicious lunch. If you go, try to get Yudd. He really made the rafting event stellar for our family.

On time with attentive skilled staff. Felt safe the entire time on this quite thrilling white water adventure. Gustavo did a great job.

Our guide Christopher was very good and entertaining and made sure we went through the various rapids safely but with lots of great dips and waves. We had so much fun

These guys know what they're doing. Excellent activity. So well organized and executed, so efficient and effective. Best class Ii-III river rafting I've done. Our river guide Andy was terrific, I would raft with him as guide, anywhere. So much fun, so personable, so competent. Highly highly recommended.

River rafting with guide Kerwin was a perfect blend of class 2/3 rapids and river and area knowledge. Jairo, our guide on the bus, also did a phenomenal job of prepping us for what to expect and educating us on the area. Between the stop on the river and the lunch- the food and snacks were outstanding. Would highly recommend this trip!

This was our first rafting adventure with our 8 and 10 year olds. The 8yr old thought the trip was very exciting and very wet. Our 10yr old says he at a half of a pineapple since it was so delicious! All the guides were great- Andy and Jairo- Thanks!

This was so much fun! We had 3 first timers in our group of 6 and 3 who had rafted "a couple of times" Danny made sure everyone felt safe, understood the commands, and had fun. After being together a while, he could tell we were an adventurous group so spiced up the rafting with 360's and riding on the front. We had such a good time we didn't want the day to end!

We had an absolute blast rafting with Wave Expeditions. All the staff from the driver and guide to the photographer. We had a tasty treat midway and a great lunch afterwards of several traditional dishes. When we were done, we had a little area to change into dry clothes.

Wave Expeditions provided us all an excellent day of rafting on the Balsa River. Daniel was our host on the bus ride out and back and he was my raft guide as well. He is very personable and made the entire experience enjoyable. The team led us down some challenging and exciting class 3 rapids for the first half of the trip. We stopped for a break and they provided fruit. Then we continued on class 2 rapids which were also fun. Them the team took us to a great restaurant for lunch they included a demonstration of how to extract the juices from sugar cain. We got samples as well. All in all it was a very fun day and I would definitely tour with Wave again, especially if Daniel is our host.

We had great fun rafting with Waves. Our guide Enzo was vey skillful and knowledgeable. Our rafting and safety equipment was in great shape, and the tour well organized. Our trip was exhilarating, but we felt safe at all times. Be prepared to get wet. The fresh fruit beach snack was a welcome bonus!

The class II-III rapids were perfect for newbies. Axel Lopez, our extraordinary guide, was funny, thorough and provided perfect instruction and motivation! We stopped for fresh watermelon and pineapple mid-point and closed the experience with a change to dry clothes and a private restaurant with local delicious cuisine. Our driver Jose’ (Billy) made us feel safe and secure! Our fav experience! Thank you Axel!!

This was so much fun. The ride there in the shuttle was easy. The driver stays with the shuttle so our things were secure. We stopped to have fruit and the cows were there waiting for their share. Enzo was a great guide and we felt very safe. Lunch at the end was delicious. So glad we added this to our trip!

What an amazing trip - the best of everything we did in Costa Rica! Highly recommend this company and this trip. Their attention to details and communication was exceptional. They are so professional and create a fun and safe day ! definitely buy the pictures .

Very well organized. Our guides Diego and Alonso were knowledgeable and funny and made us feel and be safe during the adventure filled with adrenaline rush. Alonso was confident and firm ,we just had to follow his instructions and we had an amazing time. The rapids alternated with pools were we could swimm and the scenery was unbelievable.

We booked the class 2/3 rapid trip before online. We drove ourselves to the store front and did street parking for a 10:30 departure. You're riding on a large charter bus so you can bring anything you want on the bus and the bus will act as a locker while you're paddling. Bring a change of clothes and a tip for after the trip. WAVE has towels to use and has water, beer and juices after the paddle. Midway on the 1 hour journey to the put in site, the bus stops for a bathroom break. Here you meet your guide. We had Meeka from America. She'll be here for another two weeks if you're looking for someone who definitely knows how to read rapids, communicates in great English and has a fantastic personality. Safety first but fun is a close second with her. My 10 year old was excited from the beginning. My younger son warmed up and started to enjoy things about a third of the way through. Midway though the paddle you stop for a snack (in our case fresh pineapple and watermelon). Right before you stop to eat, the boats will let interested paddlers get out and jump off a high riverbank into the river. After the paddle is done, you return your gear, there are changing rooms and you get on the bus for a 5 minute ride to lunch around 2p. The lunch is delicious! We had veges, rice, beans, juices, either chicken, fish or beef and more! A giant plate. When you factor in the cost of the bus and food this is an all day bargain in our book. Everyone is super nice. I can't see how any other rafting trip can beat WAVE.
