My friends and I did the half day white water rafting during the high water season. It was absolutely amazing! My favorite rafting experience so far. Thank you to Big Ben and team for being the best guides! We look forward to booking with Bundu again in the future :)

This is a lifetime bucket list trip! It's an absolute insane thrill of a lifetime. I'm still getting physical therapy on my back two months later - no joke! But I'd do it again in a flash. I'm 66 years old, and my 62 year old wife joined, along with my 25 year old son and his buddy. Both boys are world class professional fishing captains, and we had spent the previous week fishing on the lower Zambezi River for tigerfish and giant vindu. But we were also looking for adventure up at Victoria Falls and we sure found it. After jumping into Devil's Pool at the top of the Falls and leaning over the edge -- another bucket list item -- the next morning we were picked up at our hotel and taken by Bundu Adventures to the top of the river gorge at the national park. There, we were given a very thorough preparatory talk and outfitted with a life preserver, helmet, and paddle. We then set out down the stairs to the river which the guides assured us was only a couple of minutes away. BEWARE, this is a pretty gross understatement, at least during the low water season. The hike down to the bottom of the gorge is not too bad, although it was 100 degrees outside and it's very humid because you're in the river gorge. Bring plenty of water. That hike, mostly down cement steps, takes about 15 minutes. Then things get a bit hairy. If you want to paddle at the base of the Falls -- and you don't want to miss this because you also get to swim in the river up there -- you've got to hike about 1/2 mile upstream along the bank. The bank at low water is about 20-40 feet above water level and consists of endless jagged boulders that have eroded from the cliffs over the eons and fallen to the bottom. So it's not a walk -- it's scrambling over these jagged rocks in 100 degree heat and 100% humidity. When you're a heavy, 66 year old this is not an easy "walk in the park." I certainly struggled, needed lots of water, and eventually, help from the guides along the particularly dangerous last section where there were iron hand holds in the cliff and ropes that you needed to hold onto. But I made it to the boarding point where you basically had to drop 10 feet into the raft. I COLLAPSED INTO THE RAFT, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! First, the guide rowed us upstream underneath the cataracts. That's pretty insane to be at the very base of the largest waterfall in the world. Then we floated by a giant pool where we were offered the opportunity to swim in an area supposedly free from Nile crocodiles. Since it was so far upstream past all the rapids, the crocs are said not to get up this far. I deferred. Then, the rapids began. What a wild wild experience. The rapids range from Class III to Class VI, but the Class VI rapid is called "Commercial Suicide," and no raft has ever taken people down it. Basically, you'd die in a commercial raft. A very few kayakers have made it through. Everyone portages around this absurdly dangerous rapid. Most of the rapids are Class V and Class IV. Our guide was ridiculously talented -- probably one of the world's best white water rafting guides. It was a joy to watch him take us through these unwordly rapids. We were accompanied by rescue kayaker, also supremely talented, who was having the time of his life Eskimo rolling through the world's fiercest rapids. And a videographer accompanied us in a second kayak. We were not allowed to use our cameras or cell phones. The guides know all too well that we'd have destroyed or lost all our cameras in the rapids. So Bundu provides everyone with a professional 6 minute long video that they email you a couple of days after the trip. It's a lifelong conversation piece. The rapids were terrifying and exhilarating. We made it through all without flipping -- that's considered very good (there's a 50/50 chance of flipping in any of the major rapids. At the end of the trip, at the base of the gorge, Bundu provides a lovely spread of food and drink. Then you have the un-Godly option of hiking out -- or you can upgrade and take a three person helicopter ride from the base of the gorge back to the Bundu headquarters. The pilot will fly you over the Falls for another bucket list trip. SPRING FOR THE HELICOPTER RIDE OUT. The pilot is absolutely amazing. The view is astonishing. And you will not have a heart attack climbing out of the gorge. When I was at the border station crossing into Zimbabwe, I met a late 20s woman who said she is a professional whitewater rafting guide in Colorado. That means she runs the Colorado River and other big water, and she was in superb physical condition. She said the hike out from the base of the gorge was one of the most horrible climbs of her life and SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO DIE. So there you have it. Bundu runs an absolutely TOP NOTCH OPERATION. Safety was the primary consideration at all times. The guides are wonderful people, very caring, and very talented. BE SURE TO TIP THEM at the end. as well as the porters who carry out the raft and who bring down the food and drinks and pack out the garbage at the end. They all work extremely hard for low pay. They support large families, and tips really really help. BE GENEROUS, AND ENJOY THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!

We had a spectacular time experiencing the 'Mighty Zambezi' up close and personal with the wonderful guys from Bundu. Swimming under the falls and in between rapids, one flip. It was a wonderful and exhilarating day! Highly recommended!

My friend and I had a great time rafting with the guys of Bundu. The day started by spending time at the base of the Falls climbing over rocks and swimming in a pool. We then spent the entire day rafting through 21 rapids (plus many "freebies") where we flipped twice. Our guide gave us a lot of time to swim in the river, too, while we were making our way between rapids. It was an exhilarating trip that never made us feel unsafe. The guys at Bundu are great! I highly recommend doing your tour with Bundu on the Zambian side, especially since you get the extra experience of swimming under the Falls!

Everything felt very safe and professional. The guides were good, and it looked as they knew what they was doing. Also liked that if you get ingrid they pick you ut by helicopter, but luckily now one needed that.

ā€œKā€ our guide made me feel so at ease and as safe as possible. His knowledge is insane and as long as you listen to him, you will have the best time ever!!! I was hesitant at first to do white water rafting but have zero regrets. It was the best thing we did in Zambia. Not only is ā€œKā€ an expert, but there are kayakers that follow the rafts and if you ever fall in they will pull you to safety. I couldnā€™t recommend white water rafting with Bundu enough and am so thankful for the work everyone does at Bundu. Definitely have a couple of beers with the guys at Limpos afterwards too!! Overall, greatest experience!!

I have to say I was nervous as my husband booked this as a surprise for me... however, the team who looked after us were second to none. It's not for the faint hearted - steep climbs down to and back from the river but totally worth it. Our guide Kendall (K) was superb - I felt in really safe hands with him....and in fact when I fell out at Rapid 3 (a cat 4 I think) the rescue canoeist Windass was there immediately. I relaxed into the fun and we had such a fun day - a whole day isn't too long ...we had a little lunch on the raft with water and juice and carried on....beautiful scenery and weather . Many thanks to Ben who pulled me out several times - fantastic fun!

I am SO glad we signed up for this activity!!! There were only two of us and they didn't cancel. They found two guides to balance out the boat. First we hiked to swim under the falls. Seriously if you're clumsy or easily tired, think twice. The half day tour was perfect and we felt completely safe with the expertise of the guides (they explained their certification process and it's VERY thorough) and educated us on the river difficulty in various water levels. They provided water too which is really important in the dry heat. We flipped near the end, and I got some big drinks of the mighty Zambezi!!! It's the best WWR trip I've ever taken. Just be warned, you will pay for your fun with the exhausting trip back up. They will stop for you though so don't let your pride kill ya :) ENJOY!!!

Enjoyed rafting with Bundu couple of years ago. This time i brought my family to share this experience with them. Thank you Potato (guide) for making it very special. We felt safe all the way despite the flight on the photo. Great from the booking (including booking of tours from other operators) to the video of our adventure. Suggestion: go for the full day. Your initial terrifying experience gradually eases into pure joy

Such a fun day, we did flip the boat and I also fell in at another rapid but was amazing fun. Quite a physical challenge getting in and out of the gorge and being on the river for I reckon around 5 hours on the full day tour. I was the only person in the afternoon as everyone else on my boat just did the half day but a few locals jumped in and we had a great laugh.

My Husband and I went for our half day white water rafting trip with Bundu Adventures, and had such an amazing time! Our guide was Ben who was very experienced and professional, and always ensured our safety throughout the trip. I will highly recommend Bundu Adventures if youā€™re planning to go white water rafting down the Zambezi river

My son & I booked the day before, and with no others on the trip were put on standby. Another party booked rapids 13-onwards, so our trip was confirmed for a half day Rapids 1-12, and we had the raft to ourselves (with guide, helper, and 2 rescue paddlers) - what a treat! It was fun from beginning to end - the guide was experienced and competent, the rescue paddlers sharp and busy (with huge smiles, having fun on the rapids) and the raft & equiment in good nick. The experience itself was excellent - the rapids were running big, the 2 Class 5s were all I would ever be happy to do. The photos say it all - mix of delight and anticipation on our faces. We got thrown out on one of the big rapids, floated down another tamer rapid in the water, swam and showered at the base of the falls, and overall had an excellent day. Highly recommended to anyone with a little bit of fitness (the walk out could be challenging for some) and a sense of adventure.

I'd never been white water rafting before so this was a great introduction rafting on the mighty Zambezi. We only had a small group doing the rafting (3 of us in total) but I was impressed with the number of people making the day run smoothly and safely. Our guide was very professional, communicated clearly and made sure we had fun. We had four safety kayaks accompanying us. We flipped the raft once on the Terminator rapid, which was terrifying but I was quickly rescued by one of the kayakers as I found myself the opposite side of the river to the raft. The only downside of the trip was the long walk down and up the gorge, but that's just the geography of the area. It was a tiring half day, but very fun and exhilarating. I'd definitely recommend it, and would go rafting with Bundu again.

I'm writing this review for all the sooks. I was very nervous and scared about this tour. I can't really swim and I can never go on rides at the park. But white rafting at vic falls, I would do it again. I felt safe the whole time even though I fell in the water couple of times and drank heaps of water. First of all, the view is just amazing. I've walked around the national park, did angel's pool but don't think I got to experience the falls this closely with those. Despite being really scared at the start, I had a lot of fun! One advise would be to wear good shoes because you have to walk about 30mins down and up, before and after rafting. I wore crocs in sports mode which worked :)

We had the most incredible day on the water making our way through 25 rapids on the last day of low water rafting. The rapids were intense and the guides made sure we got through safely. Everyone working there was a pro and super friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better overall experience. Even the food they served us on the raft and afterwards was delicious, a pleasant surprise. Just reapply sunscreen midday or you'll get burned, it's hot out there!
