We drove from Reykjavík to Viking Rafting which took a total of 4 hours but it was so worth it. It was easy to find and communication with them via email prior to the day was great. Despite it being only myself and my partner rafting that day because of people not turning up, the guides really made us feel welcome. It started off with a 45 minute drive to the rafting point but it was a great opportunity to get to know the guides who were very interesting and knowledgable about Iceland as a whole. The safety briefing given by Hunter was great and then we pulled the raft down to the river and off we went. The views were absolutely incredible, literally second to none and once the rapids hit, it was just pure excitement! The dry suits were surprisingly warm and significantly better quality than on another excursion we done a few days prior. We stayed completely dry and warm with a few fleece layers on underneath the dry suit. Don’t let the time of year put you off booking this trip! Seeing the snow/ice melting in to the river made the trip even better! The trip was so worth the 4 hour drive there and back. And a massive thank you to Hunter, Benji, Pablo and Roshan, you guys were incredible! Not to mention the quality of the photos taken by the guides, we couldn’t believe it when they came through only a few hours after the trip! In a nutshell, it was one of the best trips we have ever done and we would love to come back and do it all over again!

Hunter and his team were super fun to be out on the river with! They are very skilled and were very good instructors, as we felt prepared for every big rapid. And the food back at the base was amazing! Easily the best adventure of our Iceland trip! For sure deserving of more than five stars!

Our whole experience was beautiful starting with Rosa an excellent greeter (when we first arrived). She rescused us from what seemed so overwhelming. Her personality & sharp listening skills made us feel relaxed and cared for. She definitely set the stage for a comfortable, well informed trip and pleasant atmosphere. All her tips and how to's gave us the tools we needed to fully enjoy ourselves. Others that treated us like royalty were in house greeters Antonia & DeVonte. Everyday we went to the club we felt extra special. I am so sorry I can't remember one housekeeper staff's name that lady clean our room with such excellence & attention to detail not to mention tender love we had to leave her something at the front desk because she was off the next day we were leaving. Others were good but she took it to another level. I see if can find the paper I wrote her name on. GREAT JOB WESTGATE STAFF! GREAT JOB!

Best rafting tour ever and my family and I have been on a few. Guides, scenery, thrills and meals were outstanding. A must for anyone visiting Iceland!

Amazing experience on a beautiful river, fun and challenging. Would do again when back in the area. Martin our guide was fantastic and gave us the roudy trip we wanted. The food afterwards was excellent highly recommended.

I‘ve been rafting before… but this tour by Viking Rafting was amazing! The guides first explain everything very well and with a great sense of humor. Everything is well organized: waterproof clothing, waffles & hot chocolate at the stopover, endless fun and action, cliff jumping, high level of safety through other guides in the canoe, very tasty fresh lunch! The time on the river is around 3-4 hours… sounds long but the canyon view is soo beautiful and on the water is so many action all the time, so you never get bored! Viking Rafting makes this tour very special and to an unforgettable experience. I‘d make this tour again right away :)

Well it was something speacial.., the best rafting we did so far. I would do it again and again.The instructors are profesionals and really friendly. The one who wants to feel real adrenaline and experience power of icelandic river should definitely make this one. I wanna say again big thank you for this unforgetable experience. I would 100% recomend this to everybody who is thinking about trying a rafting in Iceland.

Marc and the team were absolutely wonderful. Even though the rafting was very action packed, it was safe at all times and the dry suits kept us and our clothes completely dry during the whole trip (not like with other companies where you dont get these suits😅). Also highly recommend to order the food, it was the most affordable and best lamb we had in Iceland so far and you get it right after you come back.

After experiencing the fun of the West river, our teenager really wanted to try the more exciting East side. So we rearranged our itinerary to come back the next day! We are so glad we did. We had an action-packed day led by Mark with Hunter as our raft guide and Benji steering the third boat. Amy and Roshan were our kayak safety team with Roshan doubling as an amazing photographer. We all had a blast and felt it was the highlight of our trip. Hunter was a wonderful guide and took care to ensure everyone experienced the level of excitement they were comfortable with. The team at Viking has a great operation with a real focus on safety and communicating clearly about what to expect and prepare for. We were nervous at first but their professionalism and the calm, friendly demeanor shown by all the staff put us at ease and made for a really special day and fantastic memories. Special shout-outs to Giana at the front desk and Alina, who was especially kind and helpful. Oh, and if you get a chance, order the meal of the day. It is totally worth it. So fun, exciting and well run. We had novices and experienced rafters in our group and all had fun and felt well prepared. Guides are excellent, lunch was great and all the staff were very helpful and responsive. This is a must do trip if you like rafting, it’s a great river, big rapids with excellent experienced guides. I recommend getting the photos, they capture all the action throughout the trip and are really great to look at afterwards.

It was my second time on this river. The rafting experience was absolutely amazing ! The guides were skilled and made the trip safe and enjoyable. The scenery was breathtaking, and the adrenaline rush from the rapids was unforgettable. I highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for an exhilarating outdoor experience.

This was such a fun experience! I had high expectations from other reviews, and they were more than met! I have done a handful of other whitewater rafting trips (including a few class 5s), and this stands out as one of the best (if not THE best) trip, even though I'm an adrenaline junkie. And worth noting is that my wife (who generally feels ambivalent about this sort of activity) also had a great time! The river itself had lots of exciting rapids, though nothing legitimately scary. Everything felt very doable. Also included on the trip: "surfing", cliff jumping, and multiple capsizes! We ended in the early afternoon back at the base, where we had one of the most delicious meals we had in all of our Iceland trip. Our guide was fantastic, the weather was gorgeous, and I'm so happy we were able to include this in our trip! One final callout - the photographer was one of the best I've ever seen! He had the most amazing, artistically shot photos that captured the entire experience!

The best activity we have done in Iceland. We were very pleased to thank Mark for his unmistakable English humor in addition to his expertise as a rafting guide. We felt safe all the way long, and the Drysuit keeps you really dry no matter how much time you spend in the water, and you will be in, no doubt. Had such a fun time! The tour guides are so nice as well as fun and make the trip extra worth it! If you want a fun day on the water, jumping of rocks, swimming in the river, going through rapids, and see if you can flip the raft, this is the perfect adventure for you!! They also take such great photos of the whole adventure and would recommend also getting the photo package to remember the day!

I had a wonderful experience with this company while white water rafting in Iceland. The guides were professional, friendly, and attentive. My favorite guide was Mark, who had a great sense of humor and extensive experience. He was undoubtedly the best rafting guide I've ever had.

EPIC rafting adventure and MUST DO in Iceland! We've gone on many Viator trips in Iceland and this was far and away the best. They provided dry suits so we weren't cold at all on the East Glacier river. Each guide is extremely cool and funny, and the rapids are up to class IV. The basalt canyon is stunning.
