Four members of our Collette tour group rafted the Sarapiqui River Rapids. The adventure was thrilling, but we never felt unsafe. Our guide Abel was the best. Gave the paddling commands in English and following his guidance we were able to navigate the river successfully. Fresh fruit and lunch at the end of the trip was a bonus. You will get wet so dress accordingly and bring a dry set of clothes that you can leave in the transport vehicle. Photos turned out great and I was able to capture some great gopro video.

James and his crew created a fun day for us on the Sarapiqui River in small rafts! The water was warmer than I thought and the class 2/3 rapids were very fun for all. There was a pineapple snack break and there were howler monkeys in the trees above. The lunch at the end of the float was delicious and the photographer caught some great shots of our family having fun!

We had an outstanding time on our white water rafting trip in Arenal. The team of pros who lead our journey were so professional as well as amusing. We split up and had four adults in one raft and put our four teenage kids in another raft. We had a great day, stopped along the way for some fruit, and had a delicious lunch at the end. I feel like we found a gem with this one and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable white water rafting trip.

From start to finish the Jacamar Naturalist company did an excellent job. They were all upbeat, friendly, focusing on safety & ensuring everyone was okay &.enjoying themselves. Loved the break to relax & eat fresh fruit cut up upon arrival to the stop area. The photographer did an awesome job capturing memorable moments. Needless to say we purchased the option to have link sent to our email with over 70 shots taken specifically for our canoe. Each group got their own set of photos & a very reasonable price. We received the link for the shared photos about 48hrs later & so happy we purchased. You get a chance to view the group’s photos while having lunch. Lunch was plentiful and so delicious. You get the option of casado plate with either chicken, pork, vegetarian, etc. We had chicken & entire dish was perfect. We had pick up at the resort & shuttle bus in tip top shape & so clean including windows inside & out so they must clean them each night :)! Was the best excursion out of 5 we did in La Fortuna area. Will never forget the day & staff for their hard work, enthusiasm, and attention to all detail. Miguel was our canoe guide & he was fantastic!

We had a wonderful time on this raft trip. There were 5 of us and we were able to ride in a raft with just us and our great guide Miguel! Highly recommend!

We originally found Jacamar through the Mytanfeet blog. Everything Jacamar set up fro us was fantastic. This was one of our favorites and it was because of the guides. We had rafted before numerous times and MIguel made this one special. My 12 yr old got to ride the bull (up front) and so did my daughter. My daughter accidentally fell off the raft while riding the bull and Francisco (who was our safety guide in his kayak) was super quick to grab her and her shoe as it was floating away. Miguel also went above and beyond to show us nature including a sloth, toucans, and a monkey. Thank you Diego, Miguel and Francisco.

We had a fantastic time today with Francisco and Luis. Francisco was with us for the day and our guide on kayak while Luis was our guide on the raft. Both super knowledgeable about the terrain, local hot spots and agriculture. The rafting was amazing. Our teen kids were laughing and and said that this was our best rafting excursion so far and we’ve done a few. We enjoyed the snacks prepared mid-journey and the lovely lunch in their private park area too. We would definitely recommend going with Jacamar.

We had an amazing first time experience white water rafting with our guide Carlos. He made sure we were safe and had a good time. His 30 uears.of professional experience was very reassuring. The kids had so much fun and it was their favorite adventure of the entire trip. A must do with Jacamar. Pura vida!

This was an incredible excursion!!! The tour guides were so attentive and I’d recommend booking with them!! We passed several other groups with tons of tourist, but our group was small and they had attention to detail!

Great tour! We loved our guide, James. We only wish it was longer! It’s a long ride to the white water rafting so I would go for the whoe day!

My wife and I, mid sixties, took our twelve year old grandson on his first trip out of the US. He chose Costa Rica. Our first adventure was white water rafting. The tour was lead by Fransisco and guided by Diego. Rafting class 2 and 3 rapids was enough of a thrill without having to worry about what his mother would say to us if he got hurt! Then when you add a delicious lunch, you have the perfect day.

We had such a fun time rafting with Jason (the Water Sloth)! Jason was an excellent guide and made the whole experience fun and easy for our family. The rapids were perfect for our 10 and 12-yr old, and Jason did a great job helping us navigate a fairly crowded river that day. Beautiful scenery and tons of wildlife. The lunch was great after, too. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the La Fortuna area!

We took the class 2-3 rafting trip led by Francisco and with James as our guide in our raft. It was a wonderful day and very easy/safe. They were great! The most important thing we learned about Jabacar during the day is that they focus on smaller groups for their tours. They don’t really promote their business this way andn not sure why. We were 1 of only 2 rafts on our tour which made the trip more personal. Their tours are a bit more expensive but for our family the somewhat quieter experience made it worth the extra cost.

Jason, (water sloth) rafting guide was good. Stopped in between & gave us pineapple & Water melon. Lunch was provided, which was yummy!

This one not to be missed! Very professional and knowledgeable staff. My family had the time of their lives. Highly recommended. We were picked up promptly. What an amazing day on the river!! Our guide, Tom, not only helped us down the river but he also was a wealth of knowledge about the area, it’s history and culture. The rapids were just enough challenge for all of us to have fun (even the teen boys) but not too much. The last part was like a nature tour with sloths, monkeys and a variety of birds. The lunch afterwards was truly perfect. Everything was made from the Jamar farm and the service was second to none. Each staff member was so proud of their country and was genuinely happy that we were visiting! We definitely recommend!

We are a family of four with two children (9 & 12), and we did White Water Rafting Class II & III. It was a lot of fun, and we recommend to anyone who visits La Fortuna/Arenal areas. Jacamar Naturalist Tours is very professional and experienced, and we are so glad that we chose this company. The guide we had for our boat was Francisco, and we had another boat for which they had Jose as guide. There were a safety guy and a bus driver, and they were all very polite, efficient, and professional. During the bus ride that was a little less than one hour to the starting point, Francisco thoroughly explained how to use the paddles and all the safety commands. Also, he explained local trees, fruits, and vegetables, which was great. Although many of us on the boat were first timers, we felt safe from the beginning. During the rafting, we saw several sloths in the trees, toucans, and iguanas. We had fruits and chips for snacks in the middle, and then we had a very nice lunch after returning to the town (La Fortuna). Throughout the experience, Francisco was amazing. There was a point in which we were able to jump off from the boat and swim in the river. It was very adventurous and we enjoyed everything. THANK YOU FRANCISCO AND THE TEAM! Alejandro and Francisco were amazing!! We even got to see bats and sloths along the way. Everything about the experience was professional and fun!

We did the Class 2 and 3 rapids with Jacamar and it did not disappoint! Reyder, Miguel, and the rest of the team took great care of our group (ages 21-72), which came as no surprise to us since we'd had them for the Rio Frio Nature Safari Float the previous day. In addition to a great time on the rapids, they sprinkled in some additional talking points regarding the local flora and fauna. Midway through the trip we made a quick stop for a snack (cookies, watermelon, and pineapple), and at the end of the trip they took us to lunch at a local restaurant in La Fortuna (steak, chicken, or fish casado and dessert) before dropping us off back at the resort. Other general tips: - Remember to wear some kind of footwear that can get wet and has a closed back (i.e. not flip-flops or barefoot). The rocks can be sharp, and you will most certainly get wet. - Remember to bring a change of clothes and footwear to change into. You can leave it on the bus and change at the restaurant. We also brought a towel but the company provides some if needed. - If you didn't get soaked from the rapids, there's a spot near the end where you can jump in for a quick swim. Thanks again, Jacamar!
