During our recent trip to Iceland (early May), my wife and I did a whale-watching trip with Friends of Moby Dick – it was all around terrific! We were provided with warm weather gear that kept us comfortable; the boat was a nice size for a couple dozen people and good for moving around to see wildlife. And we saw lots of wildlife during our morning cruise–including humpback whales socializing and a blue whale! The marine biologist onboard provided a wealth of information and the tour took care to not stress the animals we were viewing. Thanks Friends of Moby Dick!

Guide was very knowledgeable and the ship is beautiful, clearly taken very good care of by the experienced captain! Looking forward to going again some time in the future.

We booked the morning trip and it was fantastic! We got to see two humpback whales surface and dive multiple times, and our guide Marda plied us with amazing facts about whales throughout the trip. We couldn't feel our extremities by the end of the experience but it was totally worth it. You do have to keep in mind that you're watching an animal in the wild so you won't get very close or see too much of them, if anything at all. This is a worthy accommodation to make for sustainable observation of these animals, so as long as you go in with right expectations you'll have a great time.

We had a lovely experience on the Moby Dick and were glad to have Mada as our guide on the boat. She is a marine biologist from Portugal who gave us interesting insights to the whales surrounding us - 10/10!

The staff was great! Gear was clean and in great condition. Our marine biologist was informative and we got a chance to see orcas! We also saw white beaked dolphins and humpback whales.

Great trip with an excellent guide from Portugal. She knew so much that it made our trip extra interesting. When a “crazy” whale jumped 5 times , it made our trip even more special.

We travelled just over an hour from Akureyri... this is by far the cheapest and the best reviewed operator I found and what an amazing find this was! What an awsome day out. The team went over and above and we saw plenty of whales. 2 Minky Whales and 2 Humpback Whales. 1 of the Whales breached fully out of the water 3x!! And gave us 2 chin slaps! That never happens! What a treat. There was plenty of space in the boat and everyone managed to see the Whales I would highly recommend this!

Such an amazing time! Saw both a Razorback (fin) Whale and a Humpback Whale! Mada was an excellent, fun, and friendly guide! Definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I had the most magical time whale watching. We only saw 1 humpback BUT he did a full breach right next to our boat, completely unexpected and shocked us all! Even our guide said she had NEVER seen a breach like that so close. I honestly think everyone was in shock and nobody got a photo or video. It was one of those magical moments with an animal that not many people get to have. We also saw a super pod of dolphins. We loved Moby Dick because the group was smaller then all the big companies and also our boat was super respectful to the animals we were observing, where as some of the other boast I felt were way to close to the whale. Definitely recommend!!!

We got to see 2 whales. The guide was very enthousiastic. The experience was relaxed and comfortable. Moby Dick waited until we all could see a full whale tail etc. After that, we returned. Total time about 3,5 hours.

It is a very service minded tour and we saw 2 minke whales and 2-3 humpback whales and in a close range. Such beautitul experience. I can only recommand to everyone.

We booked a tour with this small company. We had a wonderful 3 hour trip. The crew respects the animals and keeps a fair distance not to disturb the whales and dolphins. We saw 2 whales swimming together. Madalena, the guide, is a marine biologist and answers all your questions. We were 8 passengers on the boat, that's what I appreciated the most in comparison to the bigger companies who's boats are/were crowded. The captain has over 30 years of experience and can spot the whales when no one else can. We were lucky to see a whale jump out of the water during our sightseeing tour. I would recommend you book a tour with Friends of Moby Dick to see the whales around Husavik.

The most amazing whale watching experience! This is a sweet little family run business and they had a great boat and warm suits! The guide was great and ensured sure we all got to see the whales and dolphins. Her enthusiasm was contagious and she was very knowledgeable about the animals and area!

Very welcoming new (but very experienced) crew! Informative, friendly and helpful. The response to change our booking was fast, and they allowed us to change the tour to a day where we were the only ones. A special experience in a small boat, kindly received by Captain Svava and our charming and very well qualified guide: Madalena. It's impossible to the operators to guarantee someone will see the whales, but we had luck in our day and could watch five whales relaxing in Husavik Bay.One of them offered an unforgetable jump for us.
