Duran was very knowledgeable! He was also fun. It was probably the best tours I’ve ever taken. We has short stops along the way. Everyone in our group was over 70. He was very considerate of us all.

It was 4 hours and I could have done another four. He does bike tours and cooking classes as well. There were 4 of us and we were all in awe, even the one person who wasn’t too keen on the idea. The History & Street Food tour with Durán Angel Eduardo was, hands-down, the best tour we’ve had in Colombia so far. It was a private tour that we will cherish in our memories for years to a come. Angel is very passionate about the city and its culture; a passion that has not dulled at all despite 3+ decades of experience guiding newcomers and re-visitors alike. His passion is not only noticed by us, but also the locals who openly greet him throughout the tour. His enthusiasm shines through with every topic that he talks about, from Cartagena’s beginnings to current day, which made learning about Cartagena’s history a lot of fun, rather than a dull lecture. Angel is the epitome of Cartagena’s warmth and hospitality—he is extremely friendly and kept us engaged, laughing, and safe throughout the entirety of the tour. Angel even made sure that we had a chance to try a street food that was not originally a part of the tour, all because we had asked about it. We enjoyed this tour with Angel so much that, when we return to Cartagena in the future, we would make it a mission to re-experience this or another tour with Angel again. Mr. Duran was absolutely phenomenal as a tour guide. For historical knowledge, he navigate us through the key sites and taught me and my daughter some incredible lessons on the history of Cartagena. Senor Duran was a great guide. For about 3 hours he took us to a variety of sites around Cartagena in the old city and Getsemani, explaining the history, architecture and characters that shaped the city. Very informative, took time to make sure his guests were comfortable. We did stop at an emerald workshop which I wouldn’t normally like because it’s obviously a way to make a bit of extra commission, but it was fast, not pushy and a nice break to have some air conditioning and coffee. Would recommend the tour.

We loved our walking tour with Angel Duran. I always like to understand the history of places we visit and Mr. Duran was exactly the tour guide we needed. So many interesting stories and our teen daughter was very engaged as well. Cartagena is a stunning city stacked with history, art, architecture and flowers everywhere. Duran Duran tours came to our hotel to pick us up and gave us a great intro to the area so we feel confident now to explore more of the city.

Our hotel organized the walking tour with Duran Duran. He is so fun, friendly, engaging, and knew everything. He also seemed like he knew everyone around town, always stopping to say hello and shake hands with people. We joked that he was the next mayor of Cartagena. He answered any and all of our questions, and didn't hesitate to be our photographer every time we stopped somewhere beautiful (which was often!). We learned so much about Cartagena itself and Colombia as a whole. You will not regret booking with him!

Duran took us on a walking tour around Cartagena and was excellent! We learned so much from him! He knows everything about the history and the city! He also took us to the monastery for a amazing views and even more knowledge. He is knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and just absolutely delightful! We had a wonderful private tour, Duran Duran is very knowledgeable and was an excellent guide taking us on a tour of the city. It was great to learn so much about the history of Cartagena and his passion for Garcia Marquez added an extra dimension to the tour. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I booked this trip on Trip Advisor and everything from the beginning to the end was seamless. They emailed us the meeting instructions and were met by Angel. Angel gave us so much information about Cartagena and Colombia, going into details and it's rich history and diverse culture. The walking pace was perfect and the stops at the location were filled with so much detail. Angel is very interactive and made sure to stop for questions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to not just pose for pics with the sights, but also those who are interested in learning so much about the beautiful people of Colombia.

My wife and I visited Cartagena with our two children (ages 7 and 9). Angel Duran organized and led a fun and exciting walking tour of the city on our first day. The kids got to see the Naval Museum and then walk through the streets of the old city with Senor Duran sharing stories of the city’s history. On our second day, Angel took us by car to the fortress, La Popa and the market. We were very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and engaging guide through Cartagena!

Did not schedule the tour with the cruise line as we have had good luck hiring a driver to site see. We left the boat and there is a beautiful garden area with birds, deer, ant eaters, parrots and nice gift store. We left this area and were met by guys selling trips as usual. Negotiated a price with a taxi for $60.00 for two hours. Said would take us on a walking tour of Old Cartagena inside the walls. The guides English was ok. Had a hard time understanding him, but enough to figure things out. First stop was a Fort. Very impressive, but once outside the door, we had people trying to sell us all sorts of junk, and they were very persistent. Our "guide" knew them all. We did buy some things, but once you buy, others start coming. We pushed to leave. Got into the city, he explained things and where we were which was nice. Once we reached a certain point, he said we would get out and spend an hour walking. Beautiful area and history, but every step of the way, we had people trying to sell junk. You can negotiate if you want to buy. It became obvious to us, he knew the people he would allow close to us, and tell others to go away. He was also pushing us to buy. Think he was getting a cut as he would encourage us to buy from one and not the other. Was getting irritating and we did not feel he was providing us any protection from the vendors. It was not scary, but frustrating. My wife wanted to go to some shops and the guide got mad because she wanted to shop a bit in the stores, which we told him up front. His idea of shopping was different from hers. We picked up coffee and a few other things. We kind of expect some of this, but the guide was definitely in on it. It was a beautiful area. Got some history. Negotiate up front and bring small bills.

Duran was remarkably knowledgeable about the city, perhaps because he's been giving tours there for 20+ years! We learned all about the architecture and history of the city and he taught us things about the buildings that informed everything we saw in the week following. He's fun and entertaining and it was so enchanting that we booked another tour -- to the Planeque village -- that we'd highly recommend. His wife also does an amazing cooking tour that begins in the bustling local market. Five stars -- this made our Cartagena experience.

I could not imagine a better way to get an authentic introduction to the rich history, literature, and architecture of Cartagena than through a walking tour of the city with Angel. He is very knowledgeable, articulate, passionate about his City, and makes an attempt to provide an objective perspective of its colorful, yet at times gruesome, history. I would highly recommend Angel as a guide to anyone who wants to go beyond the tourist veneer.
