Unfortunately, Samaria was closed the day of our trip due to a recent landslide. The company quickly pivoted and took us to a smaller, but very close nearby, gorge and we got to have our hiking experience just the same. What I would add for anyone booking this trip (and I recommend you do) is to know that this trip is very comparable to many of the other Samaria excursions on TripAdvisor, despite there not being very many details in the listing. There are two stops for coffee/food, one on the way out to the gorge and one on the way in, so you don't have to be worry about opportunities to eat. We also visited a beach after our hike. Also, it is a very long day. We were picked up at our resort in Hersonissos at 5:25 am, so be mentally prepared for that.

Helen was an excellent knowledgeable and friendly guide who made us feel welcomed on our trip to Samaria Gorge. The experience itself was breathtaking with beautiful views all around the gorge. We would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Crete but be warned the walk is not easy and a good pair of walking shoes are essential. We were very happy with the price compared to other providers and would not hesitate to book with Altino Travel again.

Michael the tour guide was awesome. It wasn’t an ordinary trail hike it had many different aspects. Brutal but worth it!

It was mind-blowing and unbelievable. The views in the Gorge were breathtaking, the cliffs on a boat trip from Agia Roumeli were gorgeous. The whole trip was unforgettable. Don't forget to prepare accordingly! Wear comfortable sports shoes, grab a hat and a sunscreen, take an empty bottle to fill it along the way, bring some snacks (protein bars or trailmix) and favourite music. And even if you are a physically conditioned person, your legs are gonna give you hell next two or three days.

The early start out off the rest of the family but I do wanted to do the trip to the Samaria Gorge I undertook this outing solo. The coach arrived bang on time at 5:15am and along with everyone else I managed to sleep until our first comfort stop. The guide Sargeo was informative pointing out lots of landmarks and interesting information along the way - and ensured we were fully briefed on what to expect in the Gorge. The gorge was everything that was described and more - it was so beautiful but very very hot. The route is very steep at the start and takes the river bed which is big boulders and rocks, after lunch. You do have to be reasonably fit and steady on your feet to enjoy the trip. After the gorge there was time for a dip in the sea to refresh before the ferry crossing to connect with the coach and the return journey. My only complaint was that the coach driver was constantly holding and using his phone for making calls and texting whilst driving!

Très déçue. Nous voulions visiter les gorges de Samaria mais Altino travel à annuler 2 fois moins de 24h avant la prestation. la 1er fois les gorges étaient fermées (Ok on comprend), la 2nd fois pas d'explication. Comme cette excursion n'est proposée que le lundi, nous n'avons pas pu réserver à nouveau...

Je suis tout a fait d'accord avec elisabethg189 La descente en foret, rien d'exceptionnel, nous en avons des mêmes en Suisse. A faire depuis le bas. Vous perdez moins de temps et vous pourrez faire autre chose le reste de la journée. Cela dit les falaises sont belles.

Randonnée de 19km dans les superbes gorges ! Attention être bien chaussés , crème solaire et lunettes de soleil obligatoires ainsi qu une casquette! Il y a des fontaines sur tout le trajet , ne vous chargez pas en eau ! Magnifique endroit , très propre.. c est à faire ! Il faut avoir l habitudes de marcher .. et baignade appréciée quand on arrive ! Trop bien

Ein wunderschönes Erlebnis, das man unbedingt mal machen muss! Ende Mai war die perfekte Zeit. Der Guide war unglaublich nett und hat viel über die Insel erzählen können. Die Wanderung an sich ist nicht sonderlich schwer, nur ziemlich lang. Es ist empfehlenswert viel Wasser (2 Liter pro Person) und ausreichend Essen (Obst, Sandwiches) mitzunehmen. WC sind immer mal wieder auf dem Weg vorhanden. Am Ende der Wanderung kann man in dem Dorf Agia Roumeli gut trinken und essen und anschließend auf dem Boot entspannen. Nehmt euch was zum Umziehen und auf jeden Fall offene Schuhe für danach mit! Eure Füße werden es euch danken!

Accéder aux gorges de Samaria à partir de Xyloskalo, ce n’est pas une promenade, c’est une randonnée pour marcheurs expérimentés. Le paysage est beau mais pour qui connaît un peu le sud de la Méditerranée, il n’a rien d’exceptionnel en dehors des 5 derniers kilomètres, c’est à dire des gorges elles mêmes. Là, le défilé entre les parois rocheuses est spectaculaire. Cependant, la longueur du trajet (16 à 18 km de descente selon les évaluations), le sol exclusivement caillouteux, et la nécessité de respecter un horaire à l’arrivée sous peine de manquer le bateau de retour, tout cela fait que la journée est extrêmement fatigante et même stressante. Les mises en garde sont adressées dans le bus, quand la journée est déjà engagée. Personne ne souligne la difficulté du parcours, ni la nécessité absolue d’avoir des chaussures de randonnée adaptées (idéalement avec une pointure de plus et deux paires de chaussettes). Dire que les 45€ de la randonnée incluent un guide est un mensonge: un accompagnateur prend le car avec vous et récolte l’argent, il vous retrouve le soir. Mais pendant la descente, c’est chacun pour soi. En résumé, c’est long et épuisant, très risqué, pour un intérêt touristique limité. Si vous avez plus de 60 ans ou si vous n’êtes pas bien équipés, n’y allez pas! Il est préférable d’aller voir les portes de fer en 1h de montée, à partir de la mer.

Ein tolles Erlebnis und eine atemberaubende Landschaft. Wir können das nur weiterempfehlen. Am Ende waren aber konditionell am Limit. Gute Wanderschuhe und etwas Erfahrung sind hier von Vorteil.

Très bel endroit où on est totalement dépaysée. Il faut vraiment être sportif car le parcours n’est pas facile. Les km sont longs et peu de point d’eau. Si vous faites un malaise ou une chute vous êtes seules.

Was echt een onvergetelijke dag! Wel zwaar, maar heel erg mooi. De begeleiding was super. Na de tijd konden we lekker afkoelen ik de zee. Tijdens de busreis werden leuke gingen verteld over de omgeving. Top georganiseerd.

Une super randonnée dans les gorges de samaria, vaut vraiment le détour, marche de 16km, avec les 4 premiers assez abrute mais faisable sans trop de difficulté. Visite à ne pas manquer . Top
