Somewhat disappointed. The settting is nothing special. What annoyed us the most was after paying for premium tastings and asking about a cheese board we were advised one cheese board was not enough for two people. WRONG! One board is 100% shareable between two people. It’s big ugly chicks of cheese that wasn’t explained to us so we had no idea what cheese we were eating. The port was nice but generally a lack of attention and overall experience was poor.

You can't visit Porto and not tour a port wine cellar/cave. I love wine, never got a taste for port but still nice to see. Being two gay guys, of course, we picked "Cocksburn" to tour. When we arrived, much to our surprise (Ok, honestly - a little to our disappointment) we learned they dropped the "CKS" when pronouncing it making it pronounced "Coburn." Oh well. Lol. Maybe marketing reasons? We had a great time and everyone was very nice. A nice big shop as.well.

Perfect! Great guide, could explain herself perfectly in english, it wasn't a pre-studied text that she just went through, she really told us the story. you could ask any question and she knew. Nice to see they also show appreciation toward the people who make the wooden barrels and the people in the vineyards! A very nice history and nice port tasting, for us it was the best thing we did the whole trip :-)

Had an amazing time! The tour was really interesting, with a lovely guide who was passionate and knowledgeable. Answered all of our questions. The tasting was a great addition to the tour. The cheese board was very reasonable as an upgrade to the tasting. There was a delay on the hot food, but the staff went above and beyond to apologise and sort this out. So left very happy.

There are 100+ port lodges in Porto/Gaia, but we choose Cockburns for no other reason that we enjoy it back at home. However, the visit experience from arrival until we left was fabulous! Our tour guide was Manual, and what an asset he is to the Cockburn team. There was nothing he didn’t know, and the manner he presented the process showed how passionate he is about it - and he made us laugh during the whole experience. One of life’s really nice guys! Cockburns and Manual - don’t miss it!

Great experience to learn about port winemaking. We selected the package that included wine tasting with chocolate. Really enjoyed the tour and tasting.

Juliana was a fount of knowledge with excellent English. We had a very interesting and enjoyable tour. The tasting also demonstrated well, the different characteristics of the different ports.

Had a tour with Juliana in perfect English. Juliana had all the answers re port history and production and also comparing production techniques of different wines and spirits with port. It was then helpful to use the new found knowledge when contrasting the sample ports at the tasting at the end of the tour.

This was a huge surprise! Manuel was our tour guide and you could tell he just loved his job! We took the 5p tour and he was funny, had so much positive energy and was very theatrical making the tour very enjoyable and knowledgeable of the port history. The warehouse and caves are SO impressive and also the workshop for the coopers to repair the barrels. We got to the tasting room where Manuel explained our ports and how to pair them with food. We loved it! Left with a bottle to go!

We had a fantastic trip around the cellars and a port tasting. Super interesting and Julianna who was our guide was fantastic - knowledgeable and passionate about all things port. If you have the slightest interest it is worth a trip and of course taste a few glasses :)

We really enjoyed our visit to Cockburn’s. We had a person guiding the tour rather than an audio guide and I think this makes a difference. He really seemed to know what he was talking about and seemed passionate about the business. The tour lasted almost an hour followed by a tasting which was also very interesting. I haven’t visited any other lodges to compare but I would recommend this one!

Fantastic tour! It was just the right length and we learned a lot of really interesting information! Even though Cockburn is a little off the beaten path from the other big port places, we thought it had the best port of any that we tried. You get what you pay for with the tour and the tasting. Highly recommend!

The walk up the hill was exactly as described by others, but oh so worth it! I really enjoyed the tour and never have I ever seen such a big production like on Cockburn Avenue. Also loved the chance to see the coopers at work. The tasting with chocolate was great. Thoroughly enjoyable all around!

We had an amazing time on this tour! Me and my friends had a fantastic journey, especially enjoying the wine tasting. It was truly worth experiencing. We were pleasantly surprised by the great presentation about Port wine, learning about its fascinating history was eye-opening. Plus, the information about manufacturing Port wine was entirely new to us. Thanks to Mishka, who made the entire experience both fun and educational. Highly recommended!!!

We visited Cockburn's cellars with a small group of friends. The darkness of the warehouse with huge vats and the smell of the wine gets you as soon as you get in. The guide, Misha, was well-informed about the whole process and the way he explained it made the experience fun. Amazing tasting at the end of the tour, with cheese and port wine.

Beautiful facility, wonderful and knowledgeable guide (michael....sorry going for American pronunciation:) ) my only complaint is that I now feel like a port aficionado that only likes 30+ aged bottles!

Great but as we visited at the weekend the coopers weren't working which would have been interesting
