Even though couldn’t hike to the top due to constraint of the weather, the guide spoke good English and managed to arrange another activity.

Blas was a great guide! I felt safe and had an exciting adventure. The view was great at the top and the difficulty of the hike was reasonable. Everyone should try this!

This was the best experience of our trip (and we took many tours on our 3 week vacation). The staff organizing the trip ensured we were well-prepared for the hike. Joaquin, our guide, was very knowledgeable, funny, and encouraged us throughout the hike in all the right ways. He felt like a friend by the end of the day. The hike itself was difficult, but beautiful and very rewarding. The way down was extremely fun, sliding down the mountain. I would highly recommend it!

I just sent a message on what’s app and got sorted so quickly. Super friendly staff - boots, gloves, backpack with all the snow bits in it and a little granola snack were all provided. I ended up being the only person on this particular trip with guide Blas and it was awesome! He is super knowledgable and knows the mountains so well - we had a bit of craic along the way too! Nothing like you’re own private tour😅 The summit was closed due to volcano activity being risky so I will have to come back again to get a look in the crater!

Climbing the mountain was one of the most challenging moments of my trip in South America, the views are stunning, the experience of climbing a Tahaga volcano to the mouth is overwhelming. The climb is difficult and suitable for the physically fit. The descent is in a hurry with fun surfing, scary loading, we went with the company .backpackerpucon,they were amazing, I really recommend to do this

Amazing, definitely recommend. We were extremely slow as it was my partner's first big hike and they had broken their elbow 6 weeks earlier and our guide Grace was so patient and helpful. They provided all the equipment you need and at the end provided drinks and treats. Definitely worth it!

Super amazing experience with Rutas Outdoors! The guides determined the best day to do the hike amidst crazy wind and thunder storms. There were 5 guides for a group of 10 client which made for a lot of personal guidance and information about the volcanos in the region. They were all super experienced and prioritized safety of their clients. We started hiking around 7am, summited around 1pm (lots of breaks and challenging winds), and returned to the base around 3:30pm. I will definitely be back to do Volcan Villarica with them, but next time on skis!

We had a fantastic time climbing the Villarica volcano. Grace was our guide and she was brilliant. Setting the right pace for us - not too slow/not too fast and helping us get comfortable with the tricky parts - crampons on the steep glacial ice/snow slope and the tobogganing down. It is quite an experience climbing to the top, looking into the enormous crater with a gas mask on and specially the descent sliding on your bum through the snow chutes.

It has been a wonderful experience to climb the Villarrica volcano with specialized guides and with the necessary implements in good condition. The Volcano is beautiful, it has a view of the landscape that I will always remember. And reaching the top was a dream come true. I am very grateful to the Rutas Outdoors agency for having helped me in this experience. Fully recommended.

Definitely a must do experience if you pass through Pucon. Hike is not a piece of cake but very doable if you’re reasonably fit. Even though the day was cloudy we got a great view of the volcano once we were above the clouds. The Ruta Outdoors people were great. Equipment was top notch and you get everything you need - boots, cramp-ons, ankle covers, waterproof pants and jacket, gloves and ice axe. Blas, our guide, was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. On our descent, we slid down about half way using a sort of flexible plastic dish (also supplied), which was a blast! All in all, 100% recommended and you won’t go wrong if you choose Ruta Outdoors.

This was my first ever visiting a Volcano with my husband in 2003. Incredible experience, the place is very beautiful and the hike through the volcano and the descent through the snow is super fun! Our group guide was really amazing and don’t remember his name . It was really so tuff to climb and I didn’t have any food with me and that there were some Israeli students helped me with their sandwiches, while I waited for my group .

It was a really good experience, more than I expected. There was like 4 hours of ascent, the view was amazing. As we were higher the view was even better. In term of difficulty it wasn’t as difficult as I thought. The guide and the team were worry that everybody were enjoying the experience, stopping if it was need it or going slower if someone was tired. They also provided a very complete and good equipment. When we arrive to the top they prepared to us a picnic, whith an amazing view to the volcano and to the lake. It was December 31st, so they also brought New Year cotillon. To go downhill we slidding with part of out equipment like a trineo, we have a lot of fun. I strongly recommend this experience! Was amazing.

Rutas is awesome! I participated in a few activities they organized - including the volcano + hot spring, Villarica climb, and a trek to a local waterfall. They were incredibly helpful in answering all my (many!) questions and provided candid advice on how to spend my time in Pucon. All of their guides are very professional and prioritize safety - but also work hard to make sure you have a great time. I also love that Rutas provides all the gear you need for activities and it's all very high-quality gear. Also, Rutas takes covid seriously with mask wearing when indoors and plenty of attention to cleanliness. I felt very comfortable. I hope to return to Pucon and work with Rutas again!

This was our favorite outing that we did during our week in Pucón. We went as a couple, and were joined with another group of ten for the ascent. The guides (there were four) and equipment were excellent. I have done plenty of hiking, but this was my first time using an ice axe. The views from the top, including peering into the crater as it smoked, we're breathtaking. The most fun part of this trip was definitely the sled ride down.

The whole set up at Rutas Outdoors is just brilliant; you will not find a better company to book your adventure with in Pucon. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledge and helpful. The equipment provided was all top notch, well looked after and laid out ready for collection when. we arrived. The hike itself was just just awesome. Well paced with lots of smiles, fun and laughter. 5 hours of hard, breathless climbing was well worth being able to gaze down in to the volcanos crater and the sledging down was an hour of continuous child like screams of excitement and joy. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us and for sharing a little piece of the place you're lucky enough to call home with us.

If you are heading to South America and spending any time in Chile, make this adventure a must do on your travels. The trek up the volcano was steady paced and safe. We had the absolute best weather for a stunning day of hiking and breath-giving views. At the top of the volcano, you are near the portal to Earth’s core with smouldering, hissing lava just below. The views from the top are yet again, breath-giving. And then the decent down the volcano...what an absolute blast. We geared up in snow sliding gear for an epic slide down the volcano in a bobsled-like track. Reminded me of my childhood days of sledding down snowy hills. But the best part of the day were the guides. Absolutely professional, knowledgeable and really fun!! They knew their stuff and always had safety first. When we arrived back to their shop, we had a lovely surprise of fresh lemonade, homemade cookies, strawberries and nuts. I highly recommend this company for a day to remember. Guide Blas took an awesome video of our group that will forever remind us of our fantastic adventure

this could be the best climb i have ever done. spectacular mountain, fantastic guide, interesting route yet gradual, amazing views at the top, smoking crater (with gas masks), and a superfine descent on sleds. blas and his team were top notch. safe, supportive, smart and fun. i am coming back to climb with him! could be the highlight of my year
