James was incredible! He met us at the train station, and we rode a train 30 minutes to this adorable little town outside Vienna. He was knowledgeable and really made us feel comfortable during the trip. We went in the winter so we didn't do the hike and instead he planned a second wine tasting for us! Which I rather prefer anyway! I would definitely recommend booking this tour. Totally worth it to see the country outside of the main city.

I booked this as a way to take advantage of glorious weather, taste some new wine and get out of the city on our longer trip. James was amazing- he met us bang on time and took care of everything. He was thoughtful, prepared, informative and funny. We had a short train trip during which he set the stage , explained the geography and characteristics of the wine region and set expectations for the walk and festivities. We disembarked in a storybook town, saw some historical points of interest and started our walk through some lovely woods. The walk was glorious with some slightly challenging parts- wear good shoes- but nothing six middle aged relatively fit people couldnt handle. We reached the high point quickly and then ambled agreeably through the vineyards, towards our lunch and tasting spot. The path is lovely, dotted with heurige tables and little spots where people drink in the summer. We had a fabulous Austrian lunch in a beautiful courtyard, complete with dog welcoming committee and then proceeded to a orovate tasting. Our winemaker host was informative and we really enjoyed his chemistry with his guests and his wine! James translated and provided very knowledgeable and accessible , unpretentious commentary. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and left with two boxes of wine packed for travel and a mission to return. Worth every penny and a splendid way to spend a day! Highly recommend!

James was fantastic! He did an incredible job of providing information and guiding us throughout the day. It was a truly unique opportunity to explore the Austrian woods and have a one of a kind wine tasting!

Went with zero expectations. First impression was amazing with on the dot pickup at the spot by the charming enthusiastic guide James and 5 handpicked team mates. James took us through the woods a 2 hour trek which was a cakewalk due to his constant motivating words. Then after a brief downhill stroll came to the actual vineyards. A very splendid sight of acres and acres of grapes Fahrenheit and black perfect and ready to be picked. After an hour of walk drenched in this splendor came to the most beautiful lunch place, literally ate under the vines. Finally came the much awaited Wine tasting. A warm humble host welcomed us into his home and served us each of his creation with utmost sincerity and affection. Amidst a very cozy pleasant chatter we relished each of the wines and tried to experience a little of the passion of its creator!!! After this 6,7 hour long magic we dispersed dizzy with content and of course the wine inside and in our hands. I sincerely recommend this tour for any one looking for the most amazing wine tasting experience!! Mr. James is an excellent guide anyone would be at ease with!!

Fantastic Day with James hiking the hills and through the vineyards near Baden. James is a charming knowledgeable guide who takes his time to get to know everyone in the tour. The hike/walk does take awhile (definitely earning lunch and wine) so I would recommend brinigng a small snack in addition to a refillable water bottle. Very tasty alpine water along the trail. James picked a terrific place for lunch and the wine tasting with Herr Biegler and Sabina was so memorable on many fronts. Delicious wines of many varieties, informational discussion with a passionate wine maker in Herr Biegler, enjoying chatting with Sabina about their beautiful home and family and an impressive tour of the wine making facilities/cellar. Highly recommend this day!!

Fantastic day trip from start to finish. Appeals to everyone, I’m a wine enthusiast, so I was in my element. Scenery was beautiful, lunch was exceptional, wine tasting was intimate and delightful. Would love to do this again in the late summer / early autumn when the bars are open in the vineyards.

We loved the Vienna wine tour! This was a perfect day trip out of the city. James was knowledgeable and easy going and took us to some fantastic little locations. The walk through the vineyards was beautiful. The wine was delicious! Would definitely go again.

James was a great guide on our hiking wine journey. We saw some beautiful landscapes and learned so much about Austrian wines. The highlight was our tasting at a private home!

Absolutely fantastic day, and James was the best tour guide! The hike was the perfect activity to “earn” our wines. We were rewarded with excellent views of the surrounding vineyards and the foothills of the alps. We also had a chance to wander through some very sweet small towns, and of course tasted plenty of delicious wine. James has curated the perfect experience.

There was a little confusion initially about the schedule, but James set up a half day tour that perfectly met all of our schedules. We met him at the train station with plenty of time to get to know each other on the short ride to the first vineyard. The wine and views were amazing and the even the new-to-us varietals were such a good value to purchase and take with us to fly home with or drink later in the trip. James was such a good guide and we'd book again in a heartbeat!

What a day! I can only highly recommend Venture Vienna! We had a very pleasant day through the vineyards with lovely views and tasting Austrian wines! It was amazing! Both stops for tastings were very unique and I was surprised by the red wine quality as well! I thought I would taste white wines only. We learned a lot about the history as well with many ‘fun facts’ as well from James! He really knows a lot and we can see how much he enjoys doing it! The wine tour was so cool that I booked the kayak tour as well! It is the perfect combo! Really pleasant day in the water. I was not expecting the views from the Danube, incredible! Both tours were the icing on the cake from our trip in Austria! They mustn't be missed!

Really enjoyed this tour. A combination of fantastic scenery strolling through quaint Austria villages experiencing a part of Austria that most tourists don't get to see, with the opportunity to sample some stunning local wines. James our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the wines produced in this region and was an enthusiastic and friendly host who made everyone on the tour feel included. He also had some great recommendations for things to do and see (including places to eat) whilst we were staying in Vienna. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our day and this is a tour I can thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I had a free day on the front end of our Christmas markets tour so we looked for a unique day tour. As wine lovers this tour seemed perfect and it was. James is personable and friendly. He gave us good information on the places we went, recommended delicious food for our lunch and really made the day feel as if we were hanging out with an old friend. Oh, and the wines, they were fantastic! We got to try wines we've never heard of and learn about the uniqueness of Austrian Reisling. I couldn't recommend him enough. In fact, since I'm a travel agent, I will recommend him to any and clients visiting Vienna. Oh and his kayak tour sounds amazing! Hopefully I'm in the area one summer to do it.

We were looking forward to our wine tour from the moment we booked it. James' itinerary was perfect. He is a knowledgeable and fun guide. It is obvious he loves the countryside and it's wines. Freigut Thallern and the Anton Luegmayer wineries were great to visit and their wines were all crisp and delightful. Hiking through the countryside was a great break from walking the streets of Vienna which makes James' Venture Vienna tour the perfect addition to a Vienna visit.

Joining our fellow companions and James at Hauptbanhof, we boarded the train to the spa town of Baden and headed towards the vineyard's of the Thermal Region. Exiting the town, we ascended into the woods and after about 30 mins we reached a lookout tower with breathtaking views across the Vienna basin and open countryside - certainly a just reward for the uphill hike. As we descended out of the woods, we were soon walking through the vineyards and towards our first tasting. Sitting amongst the vines, on a beautiful warm and sunny late October day, drinking in the views, oh, and some wine - was perfect. James introduced us to some lovely wines, imparting his great depth of knowledge of the wines, cellar door and the region. Having purchased a couple of bottles, we set off towards the beautiful village of Gumpoldskirchen for a hearty lunch with more wine. Feeling reinvigorated, we headed towards our second tasting at Freigut Thallern, a former 12th century monastery and another excellent selection of wines. We had so much fun and the day felt like meeting up with friends you hadn't seen for a while - conversation flowed and generally, just great company. It was a fantastic introduction to Austrian wines in beautiful surroundings. Having experienced guided wine tours in many different countries, this was probably my favourite, for complete enjoyment. James was a great guide and made sure everyone had a wonderful day.
