This Botanical Garden did not disappoint. While you can take public transportation to the garden, I highly recommend this tour as it’s kept to a small group in a mini-van (with AC!). The botanical garden is beautiful to walk around, with many places to explore on your own. We enjoyed having a bite to eat at the restaurant, which was nice given all of the walking made us hungry! Just know that the tour includes a stop on both sides of the botanical garden. First you stop at a local tourist stop that includes a free coffee tasting, where you have the option to buy some food/beverages and other touristy stuff. Then on the way back from the botanical garden there’s another stop at a local Tequila shop where you get to sample around 6-8 Tequilas (you can opt out of course). We patronized both businesses but I dropped one star from the review because these were no doubt tourist traps. None of the vendors ‘pushed’ their stuff on you, so I don’t want it to sound like we had bad experiences. But our motivation for the tour was focused on the gardens. Overall, this was still a nice option for those that want to spend the day getting out of Puerto Vallarta - especially if there’s a cruise ship that’s unloaded a bunch of passengers that overload the Malecon.

Our tour good was courteous and informative and our van was comfortable. I found the botanical garden to be very interesting. I would rate this trip five stars except our guide made an appointment extra stop at a coffee shop/tourist stand in addition to the scheduled stop for a tequila tasting. I would much preferred to have more time at the gardens and not had a he extra coffee shop.

This tour delivered everything promised. We were very happy that this was a small group tour. Our guide Raymond was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The drive to the botancial gardens was pleasant with Raymond providing great information about the towns, history, plants throughout the drive. The gardens themselves were spectacular. Raymond guided us through the beginning of the tour of the gardens, we shared a tea and then we were given time to explore. The tequila tasting did not disappoint. We sampled six tequillas and had the opportunity to go back for a few more samples before making a purchase. The meal was good. Thanks to reading other travellers' reviews we knew and prepared to eat lunch at the Tequila tasting. The cost of the lunch is not included. You should anticipate 900 peso per meal, however it is so generous that two persons can share a meal. We did not order drinks because we had already consumed quite a bit of tequila...

The site is wonderful, serene. Lots a variety of plants really well presented. Eduardo makes an excellent presentation of the Garden, very professional and knowledgeable. It’s a must.

Our guide, Gustavo was excellent. He gave lots of history with a comical flare. he was told the tour began at 11:00 so picked us up at 10:40. the email, text and program said pick up at 9:40 and tour begins at 10:00. waiting was the only "bad" part

Love this Botanical Gardens, great photo ops and a lot of hiking trails and some museum exhibits displayed here and there. Flowering plants, cacti/succulents, orchids, agricultural plants some sculptures and even a restaurant and nice gift shoppe with many different kinds of chocolate bars. Not a difficult walk. Places for romantic picture taking for couples. You won't get lost. The hiking trails is through the tropical forest. The tequila distillery has many flavors of tequila to try. The fish and seafood restaurant is located there. It's best to have a private visit with the owner afterwards on the agave farming and tequila making . Enjoyable Botanical Gardens can be reached by county bus.

Wonderful tour guide who highlighted so many great viewing points on our drive to the botanical gardens. He is passionate and knowledgeable about the country side and his conservation work with macaws. First stop was a small coffee plantation before the botanical gardens. This is a great place to get a bite to eat before tequila tasting. Lunch at the tequila distillery is limited and pricey. Tequila tasting was cheeky and fun and I highly recommend.

Gardens were very pretty. FYI When you stop for lunch your tip is already included on your bill. Ramon was a very nice guide.

The botanical gardens are worth visiting and the tequila tasting was good. Was hoping to learn more about the tequila making process which we got to see or learn very little. Also would not recommend ordering the lunch as it was expensive and not nearly as good as the food from restaurants in PV. If I were to go again I’d take a taxi and do the gardens only and enjoy a lunch there.

Loved the butterflies, church, gift shop, views, peacocks, and trails. One leads to the river, and everything is so lush.

The orchids are beautiful!! Jorge is a very knowledgeable tour guide. The tour description is very accurate. Note that it is a long ride, over really bumpy cobblestone roads and dirt roads. Definitely dramamine worthy!!!

Jorge was a great guide. Really appreciated all his knowledge. Botanical gardens were beautiful. Tequila tasting was fun but we could have had a shorter stay at the restaurant. We thought the day would be over by 3:00 or so but didn’t get back until after 5:00. Restaurant was also expensive.

This tour was a fun way to spend the day. While the bus was a bit rough on the inside the seats were comfortable and the a/c worked well. The drive was longer than I expected but tour guide and driver were fantastic the stop at the coffee farm was a waste of time. The gardens were very interesting. Jorge the tour guide had fascinating information about his group’s efforts to protect the native Macaws in the area. While the garden was not as polished as others we have been to they were very nice. The amount of butterflies around were an added treat. The next stop was Rancho Los Veranos for tequila tasting and lunch. This is not included in the cost of the trip but worth the additional money. The tasting was informative as well as fun. They were generous with the tequila. Of course that helps you to buy their tequila. It is only sold on site. Their extra anejo is very smooth. It is as good as Don Julio 1942 especially when it is about half the price. More time is spent with lunch and tequila than at the gardens but a fun day.

Having been coming to PV over 30 times, this was a place I’d never seen. We went with Viator since we use them all over the world. Pick up at our resort was on time. Our guide, Jesus, was outstanding! He told us so many interesting facts and history during our drive. It is around an hour from downtown PV in the Sierra Madre mountains. Beautiful ride. We stopped at a family coffee place, very nice, several people purchased items. When we got to the gardens Jesus led us around on jungle paths. Note: if you have walking problems not for you, up and down steps! We then had an hour and half to go through the gardens. A young couple went to the river to swim, we decided to have a pizza there since the restaurant is well rated, then we wandered around for half hour. It was started by foreigners and could use more care… but we enjoyed it very much. We left and drove a short way to a tequila tasting and a place to eat. Since we had eaten we were not interested and only wanted a drink, this part wasn’t pleasant. Carlos the driver was a good driver. It was a pleasant day out. I do recommend going to San Sebastián in the mountains tour- it’s a lovely old town,

We ran late from the ship due to the difference between the ship time and local time. They went out of their way to get us picked up. Very much appreciated. First stop was in town at a jewelry store. This was not part of what we expected and was an average tourist stop. But after that, what a great drive up the costal line with a couple of stops that offered great views. After that, the drive to the gardens. This is very tropical, exactly as expected. Great time walking around and taking it in. We were there for 2 hours. Then off to the Tequilla tasting that was very very fun. This is next to a Mexican Restuarant (cost not included) that was also very good. We spent at $70 USD for meal with drink and enjoyed it. Highly recommend that tour and Mayamex tours. Back to port in plenty of time.
