I want to highlight that our guide, Gary, was incredibly kind and helpful. He also provided an option for us to go to the hot springs on the 3rd day (which was an extra 50 soles but well worth it). We would not have been able to continue up the mountain on day 3 and the hot springs should be a break included in the pricing and package. They also give you warming pads and extra blankets for the first freezing night which was really amazing and helped. Being greeted with coca tea every morning was fantastic. The porters were also very professional. Things to consider: - The ultimate says online it's ~64 Kilometers. We were informed the day before leaving it was 82 kilometers. - There was intense pressure to stick to the program which meant that most days were spent waking up at 5am and then walking until at least 6pm. We felt we were in military camp and had absolutely 0 downtime to enjoy. I'd have rather woken up earlier to have some resting time in the evening. - We had only brief rests after shoveling food down our throats before walking again. - There was clearly a lot of stress that things 'went to the program' regardless of how the trekkers were doing. - My friend was injured on the 4th day and we were informed there was no way she could get to Aguas Caliente other than walking 10K more on her injured knee, which seems rather unsafe. - Most tours did not complete the final mountain hike on day 4 because of the amount of rain and mud making it a risky trek. We were told initially that probably the guides just didn't want to do it. As we started down the mountain we had over 1.5 hours of slick mud to trek through. i fell twice and my friend once. It was scary and unenjoyable. We should have been given the option to skip that hike and take a bus, I would have happily paid more. Because of the injuries sustained on day 4 we were unable to complete our additional hike at Machu Picchu, which meant losing 75 dollars and the hike that I actually wanted to do. I was very disappointed. The company should build in options for hikers if they are going to extend it by 20k more kilometers than advertised. The food was fine. Day 1 it was fantastic but not nearly enough protein the rest of the week, especially for the hikes we were doing. However, there was a lot of food at all times and it all tasted good. The chef did great. I want to thank Gary for doing all he could to keep us optimistic through the hike. It was clear he wanted to do well for us. He should be given more resources to make adjustments to the program based on safety and how the tour group is doing so that injuries could be minimized. We noted at the end that all other groups seemed happy and to be laughing. Our entire group was broken and exhausted. The one benefit is that we bonded and will remain friends. After speaking with friends who completed with Salkantay Treks and other companies, the key difference is where we were walking longs blocks of road (of which I can only assume are the extra 20k not on the program) they had been taking busses (even though they were also doing the 5 day 4 nights). All in all, I'm glad I did it but I would only choose this trek if you want to spend your time being pushed to your limits versus enjoying the landscape.

Me and my sister are super happy about choosing TreXperience! The food was awesome, the camp locations were amazing, the equipment great and the staff always took care of us. Especially our guides Gilbert and Gary were so nice! They had so much knowledge about everything, worked perfect as a team, were so funny and always made us laugh! Our favourite part of the tour, besides the amazing views, was talking to them and spending a fun time together. The prices are a bit higher that what you will find at other companies but it was definitely worth it knowing that the salary of the staff is way better than at other places. We also had a free cooking class included which was super fun and we got to take the vista dome train back to Cusco!

The TreXperience team did a fantastic job at making us feel comfortable during the Trek. Our guide was knowledgeable throughout and fluent in English and Spanish. The chefs cooked amazing food and we never went hungry. There were lots of little 1-percenters that made the experience memorable. Throughout the trek, the contrasting landscapes and sceneries provided us with an abundance of photo opportunities. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area, and discover some of the history, stories and myths of the Incas, the Spanish and the Peruvians.

The day before our departure, we learned our Salkantay Trek was unwalkable due to heavy rains and landslides. We were offered an alternative route: Ancascocha trek with one day on the Inca Trail. The Ancascocha trek reaches over 15,000ft and is very challenging - this is not a hike for beginners. But wow it was beautiful, and we did not see another group the entire time. My favorite part…being away from the crowds! I believe if we did the Salkantay trek it would have been much more packed (everyone in Cusco is advertising for it). We had the most amazing guide, Leo. He is such a positive, funny, kind and amazingly athletic person. He made the experience very special. He looked after us (8 people in our group), kept spirits up, and treated his team of porters and horsemen very well. The rest of the team was also amazing: Eulogio Gallegos Rosalio Churata Mauro Donato Paulino 12 horses that packed our belongings On the last hiking day we walked “backwards” on the Inca trail. By walking backwards we passed so many porters who were packing in the Inca tour groups items. Horses are not allowed on the Inca trail, so the porters pack everything on their backs. Very amazing, hard job that most definitely does not get paid enough. It was insane and made me sad. On the last day we arrived at Machu Picchu. It was of course amazing but was my least favorite part of the entire trek. There were so many people/tourists. Overall, I had a great experience on the Ancasocha trek. Very glad I did not do the Inca trail or Salkantay trek. The team was amazing and I met some wonderful people.

I went with a group of 5 travelers with the Trexperience company. We had a guide Sara, a cook Amilcar and two assistant cooks Enrique and Tiburcio. They were especially responsible for how amazing the whole experience was. Sara really took care of us and made sure we were ok at all times, waiting always for the last person during a walk and making some pretty tough decisions on the spot, as we encountered many landslides that had happened only as we had already started the journey. The food was also incredible, very diverse, delicious and abundant and included breakfast, lunch, dinner and snaks for the day. It was all really a 5 star experience that I will never forget. Shouout as well to the amazing porters who carried our stuff during the trek, they really made it so much easier!

Before the trip, Trexperience was excellent in communicating with us. Our guide, Sutta was amazing. Our group was faced with several altitude related health challenges during the trip and Sutta took real good care of us. Unfortunately, one of us had to leave early and Sutta arranged transportation for him back to Cusco on a whim. During the trip, I was conversing with him and it was very clear to me that he really cared for us and was keeping track on everyone's health continously through the trek. I felt very safe and taken care of under Sutta's watch. Our chef was Sinchi accompanied by Julio, and Luis. They did an amazing job. Every meal was delicious and plentyful. Every meal was well balanced and had at least 4 different dishes at each meal. They even made us a delicious cake with frosting as part of breakfast one day! Oh.. and Sinchi's team served us tea and cheese sandwiches when we arrived at Salkantay pass @ 15000+feet. That's right, they lugged extra weight to serve us food at the highest point of the trek. Sinchi and his team also accommodated different diatery restrictions that our group had. I ate so well on this trip, I managed to not lose any weight despite the miles of hiking everyday. If you like the outdoors, and like to physically challenge yourself, do this trek. You are gifted with amazing views after concurring challenging terrain at altitude.

Doing the Salkantay Trek was a very good decision and we had an unforgettable experience. With TreXperience we found the perfect company for us: We were a small group of five travelers and were always in front of the other groups. Therefore we could experience nature without being surrounded by too many people. We couldn't have wished for a better Guide: Leo knew everything about the nature and the culture and didn't leave a question unanswered. Our chefs (Zenovio, Felix, Andres) did an amazing job and every day we were astonished again about what they were able to cook on the mountain. Over all we really can recommend this tour: Every day we were able to see a different side of nature and waking up on Llactapata in front of Machu Picchu in clouds was very mystical!

We had such an amazing and memorable trip on the Salkantay trek. Our guide Sutta was fantastic - he was so knowledgeable, fun, and experienced. We loved chatting with him during the hikes and at our campsites and meals! The hikes every day were beautiful! Definitely challenging (don’t underestimate the altitude!) but the views were worth it. I wasn’t feeling well the first two days of the trip (unrelated to this Trek), and Sutta made sure I felt comfortable and safe, and provided thoughtful options for us and was attentive to our needs. Sutta is well prepared for any situation, not only with supplies and medical knowledge but with the experience of having led hundreds of treks! Our chef Sinchi, assistant chef Julio, and helper Luis did an incredible job preparing delicious meals for our group. I was not expecting such elaborate dishes! Lots of different types of food at each meal, and they were able to accommodate others in our group that had specific food allergies. The food was not only tasty but always so nicely presented too - a nice surprise when you are camping! Our final day at Machu Picchu was great - Sutta was the best tour guide, taking his time to explain the history and significance of everything we were seeing (not just reciting facts but sharing the history and culture in an engaging way!). We added on the Huayna Picchu hike which was steep but the views at the top were awesome! I truly had an amazing (and humbling - those mountains and that altitude… whew!) experience, and highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a memorable adventure… and make sure to ask for Sutta!

This is the kind of trip you will definitely enjoy as whole trip is designed to make you feel confortable. Our tour guide Filio is so nice & patience with 20 years experience, who shared routes, local remedies, incas lifestyle & he is a really good photographer (do not hesitate giving him your camera to take you photos). On the other side, the porter Ireneo & the chef Vidal were amazing, both so friendly helping with your stuff & ALL MEALS are AWESOME.

The whole tour was well organised and streamlined. Our tour guide Roger was an amazing guide and photographer. Our chefs eulogio and Rolando made some of the best food I've had. Imagine trying to prepare that food 4200m above sea level.

Chef Sinchi was fantastic at catering for my allergies!! I am severely allergic to dairy and gluten intolerant (alongside other niche allergies) and was very anxious prior to completing this trek due to the risk of potential anaphylaxis in such remote places. But the food on the trek was fab and Sinchi took care to ensure all my food was safe!! I was happily surprised with gluten free bread with breakfast (made from corn, tasted great) and Sinchi cooked with minimal dairy for other guests to reduce the risk of cross contamination. I took so many snacks with me just in case there weren’t many options for me, and ended up bringing loads of them back with me!! Travelling with allergies can be really stressful, but the team here ensured that eating during the trek was a relaxing and enjoyable experience for me. Sutta is a wonderful guide and he made the trek a thoroughly enjoyable experience!! He has so much knowledge and was super informative throughout the trek. We got sick on day 3 and he was excellent at checking in on us, providing advice and alternative arrangements for us when we were ill. Very considerate and accommodating - I’m really happy we got to do the Salkantay trek with Sutta leading the way! The rest of the team were also excellent and so much effort goes into making this trek seamless and enjoyable for all. Would thoroughly recommend!

Salkantay Hike - Sutta and Sinchi We went on a 5 day trek over salkantay with Sutta leading us, he is the best guide we could have asked for. He was exceptionally patient with us, many of our group were ill from the altitude and Suta was extremely attentive at all hours of the day, he even came to wake us up at 03:30 in the morning to check we were doing okay. Sutta is a fantastically knowledgable and responsible guide, he was able to answer every question we had about anything on the hike, ranging from explaining the detailed history of the native settles in each district, through to contemporary politics! Suta has an excellent sense of humour and is fantastic company on a 5 day long hike. Having lived in Australia and America for over 5 years his English is 10/10 and there was absolutely no language barrier. One of our group had several dietary restrictions including a deadly allergy to milk, where any cross contamination would provoke a reaction, while we were remote camping for 4 days the chef Sinchi prepared separate meals 3 times a day for 4 days and removed milk from the kitchen to attempt to reduce the risk as much as possible. When we went to established places to eat Sutta was excellent at explaining the allergies to the waiting staff without being promoted by the person in group who had the gluten and milk allergy. He made what can usually be a very stressful and nerve racking situation very relaxing, and as a result, there were 0 allergic reactions across the 5 days. If you have a food allergy I would 100% recommend going on this trip, they are fantastic at catering in several ways for those in need.

This trip was amazing! The views were unreal. I was traveling solo, but brought my AirPods and zoned out while i was walking. The staff was very friendly and the cooking of the chefs was beyond my expectations. I am not an experienced hiker, but it was absolutly do-able and did not need my hiking sticks.
