From the moment of booking, Choose Balkans was incredibly attentive and provided a phenomenal service. There were consistent, helpful updates leading up to our departure which left us reassured that everything would be ready to go the day of the tour. The tour guide Ilir arrived on time and found us without issue, allowing us to promptly begin our tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a wonderful discussion of the sites we saw as well as the history of the countries. He provided ample amount of time for us to enjoy the various locations we stopped at and truly made us feel like we had the opportunity to take part in various activities throughout the day without feeling rushed. The car was clean and comfortable and we were dropped off and picked up exactly from our hotel with no hassle involved. We cannot recommend this tour enough, especially for those with limited time in Tirana!

The views throughout the trip were amazing, the guide was excellent throughout the trip and gave us a fun and good experience. And especially Ohrid which was stunning in every way.

Our tour guide Erik was brilliant. Nothing was too much hassle for him. Picked up on time, very informative and interesting guide. Gave us a fantastic run through of the history of the areas. Erik spoke fantastic English and couldn’t be more helpful. Even when the tour ended he went out of his way to source me tickets for a football match the following day. I couldn’t recommend Erik and this day tour any more highly.

My adult son and I wanted to see surrounding countryside outside Tiranë and decided to try this tour. It was fantastic! Far better than described and worth both th time and cost. Our driver and tour guide was Juli, a native Albanian from Elbasan, just outside Tiranë. He was knowledgeable, a great driver (we were his only passengers), and knew the answers to all of our questions. At each destination, we walked and he pointed out interesting sites and described their history. He was amazing, and I highly recommend this tour! As amazing were Sirma, Suzy and Bato. Sirma and Suzy work for Choose Balkans, and while I expected a typical tour operator, they acted more like an exclusive concierge. They were with us every step of the way – not in person but through phone and message app – to make sure everything was perfect. From pickup to drop-off, these women made the tour experience phenomenal, exceeding all expectations. Then there was Bato. Choose Balkans selected him as our private driver when we wanted to travel to Sarandë, a 4-5 hour drive south. We planned to stay a few days then wanted a driver to take us back to Tiranë. Of course, Choose Balkans delivered beyond our expectations! Bato, while not speaking English, found ways to communicate none the less, and when we paused at a rest stop along the way, we used our phones' translation apps to share stories of our families and get to know one another. In the end, while I expected another driver to pick us up to return to Tiranë, Bato wanted to do the trip and we were delighted to have him as our return driver (this meant he had to travel first to Sarandë, then back to Tiranë - a very long day!). To summarize, we are deeply grateful to Sirma, Suzy, Juli and Bato for sharing their hospitality, their beautiful country and their care to make sure we had the best possible experience. I am looking forward to my next trip to Albania and my next tour with Choose Balkans!

An amazing day trip with stunning scenery! Gerion was the friendliest most knowledgeable host. It’s very worth it to go on this day trip to North Macedonia if you have limited time in the area. The lake scenery was stunning. Highly recommend!

Great time! I was the only tourist on this trip, which was fantastic since I am short and was able to see everything from the front seat! I had a wonderful guide, Erikson, and a bonus--one of his colleagues from the office tagged along. The cities and lakes were beautiful, and it was great to be out in the country. This company specializes in small group experiences, so being solo was fine with them. Very informatiove and laid-back. Five stars!

Before we came, we had so many different assumptions of this country, but none of them can compare the moment when we really saw it. The crystal-like lake surround this small old town of Ohrid, and you can almost feel the touch of time. We went all around the small town and enjoyed an amazing panorama view of the monastery. And we got some time to enjoy a beautiful meal and afternoon sunshine at the lake side, which was so relaxing. And our guide, Juljan Bradasheshi was so helpful and he gave us a lot of knowledge of this place, which added more charm to this beatiful town. I would personally recommend to everyone who is interest in learning more about this country, and I believe you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent tour of Struga and Ohrid. Picked up promptly from our hotel by friendly tour guide Ana. Six of us on the tour. Firstly, to Struga with a rest stop for a coffee en route. Struga has good views of the lake and nice lakeside restaurants with cheaper prices than Ohrid. We weren't able to get currency in Struga as it was a Sunday, but it didn't matter as we could use euros or pay by card where we got a drink. Ana explained a lot about the history of the town and the region and was happy to answer any questions. Secondly, we went to Ohrid, we drove up to the gates of the old town and walked to the fortress (entrance included) with beautiful views of the lake. We then walked down a woodland trail to the church of St. John (entrance 3 euros) for the famous view of Ohrid. We then walked back into town and to the church of St Nicolas (entrance also 3 euros) beautiful frescos inside, but photography is not allowed. Finally, we walked to the lakeside where we had some free time for a late lunch, Ana recommended a good value restaurant with great views that accepted card and euros. There were many gifts, shops, and clothing shops open on the Sunday and lots of restaurants to choose from in town. Guide Ana was excellent throughout with great information and stories about the locations. Would throughly recommend this tour.

This amazing tour started at 7am when we were picked up by our guide Erik. He created us with some traditional Albanian candy and then we were off for our adventure. As we drove through Albania towards North Macedonia we heard about the rich history of the area until we stopped for a short coffee break in a beautiful little area. After 15 minutes we continued across the border. We saw many towns, farm lands, mountains, and streams all with unique histories. Our first stop was the town of struga, which had a lovely river walk at the mouth of the river at lake Ohrid. After a guided tour and souvenir shopping, we drove to the beautiful town of Ohrid. Truly magical old town fortress walls, churches, shops, eateries. This place was so magical. Lots of hills but the walking tour was very worth it. Lunch overlooking the lake and mountains was amazing and we even stopped for more souvenirs and dessert! It turned out to be a very beautiful day and on the drive home we took turns listening to some of our favorite songs from around the world. Cannot recommend this tour enough.

Our last tour from Tirana was another wonderful experience. Just two stops but we had plenty of time to explore each town at our leisure. Scenery was amazing and our guide was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended this tour.

We had the MOST amazing day today with the lovely Ana from Choose Balkans. We visited Struga for coffee, then on to Ohrid. What a beautiful surprise! Amazing 11th Century frescos, an impressive fortress with very well preserved turrets and mesmerising views. Ana was fantastic. Drove us a long way, was patient and extremely knowledgeable. Went out of her way too meet all of the group needs. Was so warm and welcoming. We loved every minute of it. Thank you so much. We highly recommend this tour and this company.

A good day trip with a new electric car, perfect. Ohrid is very nice. Neli was so sympathique, he offers us coffee and special cake to celbrate the summer day in Albania. Thanks to him.

Great day tour, Eric was an excellent guide. Picked us up at our hotel on time and was very knowledgeable, even gave us a few tips on places to go for our time back in Tirana. Would highly recommend as a way to see a bit more of the region.
