We had already done a food tour in Kolkata and thought it was so good we wanted to try another one. And this one was just as memorable - Muzaffar showed us to interesting, bustling parts of his city, feeding us along the way as well as giving us history lessons. A great way to spend three hours.

Our guide, Muzaffar Khan, was knowledgable, professional, and fun! In 4 hours we had no less than 10 unique and exciting tastings/experiences. We were met in our hotel lobby on time and escorted into an a/c’d taxi for a ride to the Indian Coffee House which also offered a chance to see the College Street book market! At the coffee house we had fish sticks and egg battered fried mutton with a delicious curried ketchup sauce. True Bengali comfort food! We also enjoyed a “special coffee” the was rich, thick, creamy, and sweet. Special indeed! We then walked to Putiram Sweet Shop, a traditional spot for Bengali sweets for over 150 years, for a sample tray of desserts, all of which were delicious, but not to be missed is the pista barfi! A pistachio flavored milk based dessert that reminds of cheesecake. 😋 We then walked to several more spots including a restaurant serving Kathi rolls (brilliant burrito-like wraps with tandoori chicken inside), a street vendor serving fresh pressed fruit juices, a stop to sit and share masala chai with colleagues of Muzaffar’s, a stop at a saree shop in New Market (a special treat when I shared that I was interested in sarees), then a visit to a food festival (part of the celebration in preparation for Durga Puja), where we had panipuri, chicken kabobs, misti doi (a tangy, yogurt-like milk pudding), and finally a tasty little finger sized treat wrapped in beetle leaves! A truly tasty night to remember and a great intro to Kolkata!

Absolutely incredibly. Great food, historical aspects of Kolkata, great conversations. One of the best tours I have done.

Fantastic tour, I had such a great time exploring the river front, riding the Metro, trying street food, Indian Coffee House, fresh juices, sweets. Much more than I could eat! Muzaffar was so much fun to spend the evening exploring Calcutta with. Highly recommend!

Our last night in Kolkata and the best. A private tour full of humour, stories, history, adventure and insights into this great city. With a backdrop of amazing food stops! Don’t eat before you join as Muzaffar will keep your belly calling for more. His relaxed style is open to side detours and a candid view of the history of Kolkata and life here today. Highly recommend would give 7 stars if possible!!

This was great fun. Muzaffer is knowledgeable and very good company, and he has a fine selection of authentic food venues to take you to, both restaurants and on-street vendors. Be warned, come hungry (no lunch!) and don't be tempted to eat too much at the Indian Coffee House which is early in the tour, because there is plenty more to come. We went here and there by taxi and on foot, speeding about, seeing different corners, back streets and markets of Kolkata, and chatting. The Hogg Market area especially was pretty spectucular at night.By the end felt we had made a friend, as well as eating FAR too much!

Muzzaffar picked us from the hotel, showed us many of the night spots locals go. we tasted local foods and explained the stories behind the places, the food and the people. Muzzaffar is a great story teller, know his home city and where to get good local snacks. Great night.

I had a 1:1 private tour with Muzaffar who is very punctual, friendly, and attentive to your need. I am vegetarian so he tried his best to capture the vegetarian places/food and, spent time beyond the tour hours. he has shown authentic cafes/small restaurants/ sights in Kolkata. coffee House is must visit. I recommend the food tour with Muzaffar for good quality evening time with amazing food.

Muzaffar was a friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic guide for our evening food tour of Kolkata. In addition to sampling local specialties like kati roll, phuchka, and rasgulla, we also learned about Kolkata’s history and notable sites. This was a highlight of our stay here - highly recommend!

Muzaffar shared my enthusiasm for Bengali cuisine and went out of his way to accommodate my rather unplanned booking! He was generous with his time, is an excellent guide and genuinely cared for how I was faring! Given the jetlag and intense heat I started flagging so without me having to ask he was intuitive and suggested cold juices & sweet desserts which made the walk comfortable and fun! I really enjoyed Muzaffar's company and how much I learned about the culture, the history and everything in between. I was astounded at the variety and deliciousness of all the choices of foods I was able to eat! Muzaffar knows all the best spots to have the most authentic experience! He is generously helping me sort out my future travels in India so I can guarantee that his services are well organised, efficient and well worth it!

I love food but don’t like to stick to restaurants catering tourists and for that reason I had a great time visiting places the locals go while tasting a sample of snacks, sweets, warm and cold drinks. Muzaffar is very knowledgeable and a proud Kolkata, he provides an interesting commentary of the various points in the city. We hit a few food stalls that Muzaffar made sure were safe for unaccustomed tummy :-)

As first time visitors to Calcutta we were a little overwhelmed and uncertain where to even begin exploring the city. We initially booked a food tour with Muzaffar and with his infectious passion, incredible knowledge, sense of humour and grace, he quickly put things in context for us and unveiled a Calcutta we would never have discovered on our own. His tour is comprehensive and takes in many of Calcutta’s tourist sites & culinary highlights. But be warned, Muzaffar is also very generous when it comes to food so make sure you bring a big appetite !!! The food tour with Muzaffar was simply one of the most enjoyable tours we’ve ever experienced and comes sincerely and enthusiastically recommended. PS - his Calcutta sightseeing tour is equally awesome and is also enthusiastically recommended. Mitch & Teresa (Australia)

Had a great time exploring and eating our way through Kolkata in the evening. Muzzaffar was kind to wait for us as we were delayed in traffic. The food options were great and varied. We were offered more food that we could possibly eat, so come hungry. He even helped us bring a few things back to our hotel to enjoy later. I would definitely recommend this tour to get a real feel for the city using you senses (smell, taste, vision, sound, etc.). The mango milk share was a particular treat.

Having been unexpectedly left stranded in Kolkata, I swiftly proceeded to find myself something to do that didn't involve getting dragged around the usual tourist traps. Finding Muzaffar was exactly what I was looking for 🙏. We walked around the city eating and eating ... chatting and chatting like two old friends. Yes, the monuments were in the background and Muzaffar was brilliant at explaining their historical significance, but they weren't the main attraction - rather, we walked around the city like a local would, chatting to loads of people along the way. Not only am I now confident at eating from the street stalls but, as a woman in an unfamiliar place, I was surprised to feel very much at home by the end of our evening (which ends on a boat BTW). This option is not to be missed if you'd like to see the real Kolkata. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I were ever back in the area.

My expectations were exceeded on this tour. I had a 1:1 private tour with Muzaffar who went above and beyond to show me some truly authentic and historic (heritage) cafes/small restaurants/ sights in Kolkata. He was very generous with his time and showed me many of Kolkata's old 'buildings/landmarks stemming from the British rule. One of the highlights was the Çoffee place on College Street where all the top minds meet - you have to visit this if you are in Kolkata, it is quite the experience.
