The fish market at dawn is quite an experience - busy, noisy, full of color and life. And a little smelly! From there to the flower market via newspaper sorting and the public laundry was an incredible insight into the workings of Mumbai. Batul is a wonderful guide, very informative and a lovely person to spend a few hours with early on the morning. Definitely worth doing.

Amazing Morning Trip in Mumbai. You have to go if you have time. Never thought the fish market was this intense. My favorite was the flower market with rows of Mary Golds.

Having already completed 'Highlights of Mumbai' with guide Meherban Irani, we were delighted to find out that he was also to be our guide for 'The Original Mumbai by Dawn'. The early morning alarm clock call is definitely worth it ; we experienced sights and sounds that would have been impossible without a guide. Early morning, before dawn, Mumbai is such a different city - we seemed to be the only tourists around. Every stop was worthwhile and completely immersive - you get right in on the action! We would fully recommend this tour if you want to do more than scratch the surface of Mumbai - although you might find you slightly smell of fish when you get back! An excellent insight into the real Mumbai, visiting the fish market, flower and vegetable markets with a stop for breakfast, chai and rolls, and a view of the worlds largest outdoor laundry. Our guide Meherban was very knowledgeable, informative and painted a great picture of the city!

We enjoyed this Mumbai by Dawn tour so much the first time we came to Bombay that we couldn’t resist sharing it with more friends this time around. The original “Mumbai by Dawn” tour from No Footprints is not to be missed. If you are already upside down from a huge time difference getting up for this 5:15am tour is the perfect treat for the senses. And even if you don’t like getting up early, find a way to make it happen as you will see, hear, taste & smell the genuine local Mumbai experience like you can no other way! Our experienced guide, Adi, along with Shruti and our highly skilled driver took us on a tour we will not soon forget. From the famed fishing docks, to vibrant and bustling fruit & vegetable markets, on to early am newspaper routing by bicycle couriers, and finally the oh so colorful flower markets were all expertly described in perfect English with two delightful guides who kept us safe and having all kinds of fun. Adi has a great sense of humor, and his knowledge of the local ways and customs was fascinating to hear, see and experience so directly it was quite astonishing indeed! Especially so for the four of us fresh off the plane from the states. He was also most helpful with photo taking, and his microphone-amplifier made it very easy to hear and understand over the delightful chaos that swirled all around us during the tour. By the way, we were back in time for breakfast around 8:00 at our hotel, and had time for a refreshing long nap before enjoying the rest of the day on our own. Thanks again Adi!

If you want to experience a side of Mumbai hidden to most of the tourists, you definitely should try this. Wake up early in the morning and head straight to the fish market, which is the most peculiar thing you’ll see! My guide was Derrick and he was marvelous! I kept asking lots of questions and he kindly answered them all and kept things very interesting. Footprints is very professional, the driver was superb as well. I’d highly recommend this tour. I wish I could’ve done other tours with them. Thank you so much!

If you're looking for a knowledgeable, smart, and funny guide, Aditya is the right choice. He was waiting for us at the Taj Palace at 5:15am and we got started on his tour of Mumbai. The fish market is the highlight, with the sights, sounds, and smells of a working dock. The rhythm of the market is hard to put into words but Aditya's energy matches it well and it's an immersive experience. From there we went to the vegetable and fruit markets, stopped by the newspaper delivery staging area for a chai and then finished at the flower market. I think what sets Aditya apart is his seamless style and delivery. It was 100% authentic and we came away feeling as if we were a part of all the markets we visited.

This was our second trip to Mumbai, but experiencing it again with Heer was fabulous. Not only was she knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge in a way that was interesting to us, but was also very accommodating in trying to fulfill all the ideas we came up with. Definitely a pleasure to spend time with her and would highly recommend her

Excellent Mumbai with Dawn tour, led by Adi! This is really a “behind the scenes” tour showing how the city awakens, including a lot of the activities that underpin daily life in Mumbai - the fish market, newspaper sorting and distribution, vegetable market, fruit market, flower market. The colors (vibrant), the smells (good and bad), the pace of wholesale trade - all of this and a quick circuit around Mumbai with minimal traffic. We even stumbled into a boisterous birthday celebration of a revered historic figure, with drums, firecrackers and hundreds of men in white robes and orange turbans! Our guide, Adi, did a wonderful job explaining many of the customs and practices that we observed. Outstanding!

Excellent guide and so interesting to see Mumbai wake up in the early hours of the morning. The hustle and bustle on the fish docks, watching the newspapers being manually packaged, the vegetable and flower markets were so interesting. Don’t leave Mumbai without adding this to your touring plans.
