Only issue we had was meeting our guide because the confirmation I received only had an address which covers a very large building. Should have also included "at the plaza." Otherwise very informative.

Shirley is an amazing tour guide. We really enjoyed her stories about Cannery Row. Fascinating history of Cannery Row and the area. She knows details about plants, people, culture, that made our walk colorful and fun. True local character!

It was a fabulous way to spend a couple morning hours. We learned all about the area historically and current concerns about the town. The walk was perfectly paced and relaxing. Thom was a wonderful guide. Learning from a local is always the best way to walk around town. We highly recommend this tour.

Shirley is one of the most knowledgable guides I have ever met and she gave an amazing tour. Highly recommend the historic tour as well that she does. A small thing Tripadvisor booking through Viator had some issues it's better to book directly with the company called walkmontery dot com You get to support the local tour guides directly as well

Thom guided us through Cannery Row in Monterey for a couple of hours and we learned a huge amount about that area, which is what we wanted. We enjoyed Thom so much we stayed later and went on his afternoon tour of the History of Monterey, which we also extremely enjoyed.

Highly recommend! We had 3 generations on this tour (My mom, my son and myself). Everyone loved it! Our family has been on walking tours around the world. It is a fun and interesting way to share history with our 3 children, who are now young adults. Many thanks to our guide, Tom, who brought the history of Cannery Row to life. It felt like a friend was showing us around his beloved hometown. We will be back for their other Walking tour of Monterey.

Tom was an excellent guide. He is very knowledgeable of the history of Cannery Row, and he is passionate about it. He is a great story teller and brings Cannery Row back to life with his descriptions. The tour is about 2hrs, and after the it you will see Cannery Row in a whole new way. This tour is definitely worth it!

Tom was an excellent guide: knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time with us and was willing to answer each and every question. He made a point of asking us what we were interested in learning about and seemed to cater the tour to the interests of those present. When he learned that everyone on the tour was familiar with Steinbeck's "Cannery Row," he was careful to point out a lot that we did not know. It was nice that he asked (and remembered) the names of the people in our group and often referred to us by name. If you are looking for a personable guide and a relaxed (yet fact-filled) walking tour, you won't be disappointed,

Tom lead our group of four (2 couples) and we enjoyed it immensely. The pace was great for both young and old and we learned a lot about the sardine canning industry and John Steinbeck.

Tom was an excellent guide to the history of Cannery Row, particularly in the context of Steinbeck's novel (from which the neighborhood's current name derives). He was funny, wise, and deeply knowledgeable. One of the highlights of my trip to Monterey this past week.

Our guide, Thom, was deeply knowledgeable about not only Cannery Row but it’s connections to Monterey’s history. He provided an interesting view of Cannery Row’s development as well as the way Steinbeck depicted it. This walking tour made me feel less like I learned a lot and enjoyed doing it. Thom was a great guide!

Thom was great! He provided plenty of insightful information about the history of Cannery Row and Monterey in general. We have been to Monterey multiple times, yet we didn't know as much as we thought we did about the area and its history. Thom made everything very interesting!

During a two day trip to Monterey, I took this great tour of Cannery Row. Thom does a wonderful job of weaving tales about the Steinbeck novel with the history of how Cannery Row became the sardine capital of the world. This was a great way to explore the area during the afternoon.
